the penance for including Nickelback is to at least include One on bass path, ffs.

i will not be denied One bass path.

@ Rodman & @ Nacholede For the second week in a row, competitors in intermediate bass class get a song with very low tuning. In my opinion it would be worth finding something else as the main song and leaving Machine Head as a bonus.

yeah. fun song, but I have the luxury of being able to use a 5-string (I don't own) and i'm sure not everyone does

@ Rodman do you mind editing the song post to include the (Saturday) cut-off day/time (of your choosing)?

Where shall i add the time?

Yeah... i am gonna add One bass and check the Int situation!

I would suggest the score cutoff time (with timezone 🙂 ) to be either just above the first guitar path listing or just after the final bass track listing

I'm not a designer though - whatever you think is best!

Thank you! xD

I think that is not necessary.

 - Score deadline is when the next week is posted (and that timepoint shall be announced the hours before the switch)

- The timepoint is always around 7pm CET

As we all do that for fun and for free in our leisure time there will be slight fluctuations. But i am very happy how it is running - thx to everyone participating and putting effort in!!! In the last 8 years there has not been a single week that has not been posted till earlier sunday (CET) and 99.5% of weeks on Sat Eve (CET).

I understand all that's involved with selecting songs and rating them.  Yes it does take time and a lot of effort! Credit to all who are involved with those things!!! That doesn't mean I have to play or post a song. I have been discouraged from the past postings of  songs, some had won first place, while others where 2-4, and my score did not change in the player rankings. If you need weeks I'll be glad to show you, I have them all saved. I even asked to be bumped up to the next level of player, cause I was feeling guilty about staying in a level, and winning occasionally. I'm not here to win, but to learn, and enjoy playing all types music. There seems to be a click here of just a few, instead of a majority. So hence the discouragement. I'm a handy-capped player as well. But I will never use that as an excuse. And just so you know I have played every single weeks songs, even if I did not post them. Maybe thinking I would have time later on in the week to improve the score, and bam its late Saturday afternoon and to late, like today. I enjoy this competition it inspires me, wife hates it when I spend time playing. I have enjoyed all of this weeks arrangements and have not wasted one! Maybe I'll post and maybe not.

Ah man, that´s sad to read. We want nobody to get discouraged! And no - organisation is surely not here to favor a certain clique. The posting time has not changed over 8 years... its always within hours, and it will not be set to a certain timepoint for practicability. There is no point in not posting scores that you did - cause spirit of the competition is to improve over the week and see players improve. 5 Years ago i personally had a classmate or opponent who would post his winning score once in a week 30mins before new weekstart - so with litterally no time to fight back ... that´s not in the spirit of our friendly contest really. I encourage everyone to post any achieved score and eventually improve.

I can assure you that everything is calculated correctly in the 10-week leaderboards. Please pm me the issue or post here and i will check on that specifficaly. It really would be a bad thing if your participations rate would drop for disagreements with the organisation.

Rock!
Rod.

7pm CET has worked just fine. Just have the rules say "submission won't be cutoff *before* 7pm CET...1min after, and it is discretion of whoever is catalouging" - boom, done forever. Easy fix to rules, without a need to add a single sentence fragment to the post template.

Is the random variance kept in to actively discourage last-minute posts? I never thought about this as being malicious or unsportsmanlike - definitely have not intended on ever attempting to obscure my own scores! Hell, I don't remember off the top of my head the last week I won

...but I remember recently being outscored by 1000pts on a 100% run lol

I really think that does not improve things, but looking through the last years the vast majority of the very few weeks starting before 7pm CET were my selection, and i am ok with doing the extra work - YES - let´s try it.

Rules update: Entered scores are valid until 7pm CET of the running week or until new week start, whatever happens later.

@Hyphema - i really would need a member for a small task to be done every other week that will take 5-10 minutes. Are you interrested in helping out?

Rock, Rod.

regarding song selection:

Iron Maiden - Writing on The Wall is E Standard, not Drop D.

Sabaton - The Red Baron - custom tuning (did not have a chance to check which tuning is the closest, just wanted to play and tuning screen came up), not E Standard

@Rodman, I can try to help in entering scores, but only during the week, not weekends. Would this help?

Hi Kay!

Thx, it´s better now - IM was a copy from guitar error, Red Baron we need to be playing the historic version - the Album one is tabbed for 5-stringer (scores are welcome as bonus)

Yeah, that woulb be of great help! drop me a pm with an gmail address and i´ll set you up!

My 3 cents, if anybody's interested:

1. I agree that a stable time for closing the week is a good idea.

2. @ SpankNass The only thing I meant earlier was that if nobody posts a score, it 'looks' like nobody played it. Decisions can only be made on available information, so it's good you decided to speak up. I disagree about the clique thing tho, I've been here since November and I've only felt welcome. On the missing scores - everybody can make a mistake. I'm updating the spreadsheet rn, so I you see anything missing let me know. Also, you should probably repost your darkness within score here, so I can put it in.

3. @ kayteck Nacho week means all the cdlc were made by @ Nacholede

I didn't win the advanced bass class. @ jellisjenius managed to get the best score before you officially end the week.

that is true... cool thing is i updated the lb myself, (autosorting seems to not have worked) and still ignored that fact of knowing he won when presenting the winners.... brains, sigh ....correcting now
