Ehhh not a big fan of this. I know I can do much much better but I just don't like the song, so this is gonna be it for MC

A bit of an improvement, finally could reach 95%. I'll try to push for 96%

This is my first time entering the championship, looks fun. I just saw Octavarium was one of this week's songs so here's my score
This was my second run, I could probably do a tiny bit better but 20 min is long... haha

@pedropmf - levels up to mc bass on his 99.5+ score, congrats.

 

I myself am used to play bass fingerstyle only, that time i did one try with a plectrum and have achieved an upleveling score here, too. Cheating! I stay down until worthy. (unless someone thinks it would be unfair)

I have been been realizing how much better you are than me considering I use a pick all the time.  Sometimes I think I need to go back to the beginner class and ditch the pick.   (not a comment on you staying in advanced, I think the song was so dense in notes it make a high percentage easier to achieve)

Ah c'mon.

Look at last years leaderboard. You won against me and you won the adv class! And you won by a ton. You are the better bass player.

 

There is nothing bad about picking the bass, i just have decided a long time ago that bass means fingerpicking practice exclusively for me as i like that style a lot.

 

As you say last weeks adv song was special when it comes to scores.

It's very easy to tell I have some lag issues after playing Future People.  I have to hit the note just slightly prior to the note actually hitting my string, resulting in a perfect played note rather than good or late.  I have always seemed to have a difficult time with this setting in the game (whether to increase or decrease the lag setting number).  Any tips on making  this easier to get it right would be helpful. I often wonder if it is in the created song version or if it is lag? When I hear the song (or any song) I can tell when I should be playing the note to stay in rhythm and that would fit in a the right moment. I can tell when I play some songs that it is way off, and its not me.  So I guess what I'm asking, "Is there anything that can help with the lag setting in the game"?  The little light does not seem to help me lol!!! And with the lag setting incorrect it affects my score attack scores.

I see what you are saying, I guess it comes down to the technique.  I'm perhaps a better pick player, but I am really a beginner on fingerstyle, pops, slaps, etc.  I really should break it all down and work on that style, but bass isn't really my passion. (however learning fingerstyle on guitar is on my list)  I play bass to help me understand the song structure and because it challenges my "melody first" mindset.

My point is that I'm impressed because you hold your own utilizing a much harder technique and you deserve props for that!  And I occasionally feel guilty because you can beat my scores on the occasion that you use a pick, but I couldn't touch your scores without one.

Of course none of that means I'm going to go easy on you this year.

Hey, I'm a guitarist, and I'm absolute shite at fingerpicking. But don't feel bad about your weaknesses - rock your strengths. There's plenty of powerful plectrum bassists in the world - if you ever want to work on your fingerstyle it's there for you, but it's no means a requirement to be a good bassist.

I'm getting better at playing the bass, and better at finding the picture url.

This song was not that hard... I even tried the "intermediate". And this time it is not that impossible (wondering why last week at the same level for both intermediate and advanced (7)).
Though when playing the second, I was wondering... Why did I ever buy a bass with more than one string? And here thinking about the discussion I had about why not change strings instead of wanking the bass. But on the other hand, if the song was made using different strings, it would have been much easier, so now I have an excuse for practicing my hand movements.

You are not limited to just a beginner. You can show your scores from higher classes. If you are the best there, you will win and will automatically be promoted to a higher class

Thanks... But I'll try to get the accuracy a bit up higher... higher that 60% before showing (off). But for now I'm practicing my wanking bass-style. I'm not good at that... yet.

I did an okay run (but made the screenshot a bit to fast). And seemingly this is not the result of this playthrough. I feel more comfortable in the beginners league.

But I must ask: What is wrong with using some of all the other strings?

I think Future People is much more technical and more difficult than God Knows... I rate Future People at 8 and I would transfer it to the masterclass, and God Knows is more 7 and advanced.  This is my suggestion
