@Vodka: http://www.instructables.com/image/FF4KCPAFA190CXR/Rubberband-Pencil-Capo.jpg And some scores: A malenki moloko: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B49Qq-EFnmrKaTB0c0F1NmRJU2c/view?usp=sharing Gloryhammer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B49Qq-EFnmrKc05TTUtYdWtidUU/view?usp=sharing I couldn't complete the Muse song, and do think it's more difficult that the Gloryhammer, but then I am still hung over from yesterday, and I have a plaster on my finger from when I was trying to cook my tea whilst I was drunk...6 points

Whale oil beef hooked! I have some scores... I'm not too excited about it though, they're not particularly complicated to play from the melody perspective... I quite like The Flipside... New Born I've had in my files for aaages but never got round to playing it so I'm going to concentrate on that this week so no score for that just yet, want to dedicate my practice after dinner to that. I'll plonk another MC attempt later in the week once my fat bass has got used to being down tuned for a couple of days. Beginner: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=607720513 Moloko reminds me so much of Portis Head...The track Glory Box particularly just the style of singing is very reminiscent... brought back lots of memories of Glastonbury 1998 where I spent the weekend drunk on homemade plum cider and covered in mud :D I'd say about a 2 rating but the timing is a little kooky so possibly a 3. Not your casual rhythm for bass. Advanced: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=607720634 ... Yeah, I can dig why they're a fun band to get into, bass is a bit boring but, meaty.. 3. MC: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=607720715 I should improve on this later in the week, very straight forward, nothing squiggly, fun, makes me want to wear an eyepatch if I do a video :) 5.5 points

Had a great day in the mountains yesterday, although my arms are quite stiff today from climbing. Still managed to have a bash at all this weeks songs. Moloko - I only know this band from the god awful 'Sing it Back' song that was all over the radio in the late 90s (99 maybe? can't remember for sure). I was pleasantly surprised by how good this track is. http://s12.postimg.org/5d56nyprh/moloko_flipside_lead.png http://s8.postimg.org/l31n1gvf9/moloko_flipside_bass.png Muse - this one's been on my Must Learn list for ages, tried a few times in the past but never really got anywhere. Some tricky chord shapes and the solo to be learned. http://s22.postimg.org/hdeldix6p/muse_new_born_lead.png Gloryhammer - what could be more metal than undead unicorns ?!? http://s30.postimg.org/ccwfg6v8x/gloryhammer_unicorn_lead.png http://s15.postimg.org/bevyg7duj/gloryhammer_unicorn_rhythm.png http://s30.postimg.org/9282gb5bl/gloryhammer_unicorn_bass.png Alestorm - another new song, but a definite highlight of the week for me. I'll be spending more of my time on this, but no bass due to the low tuning. http://s12.postimg.org/sbabwfdgt/alestorm_surf_squid_warfare_rhythm.png4 points

Hello everyone! I have tried emulated bass. The result: http://i.imgur.com/ZvoW3s1.jpg Unfortunately the other songs are not in standard tuning. I will not drop my strings. I'm afraid I will not able to return 'em to E back. My strings are old and can break any time. And I don't have a capo. Guess I should to buy it finally. some Moloko http://up.picr.de/24374242in.jpg http://up.picr.de/24374243oy.jpgfun and easy, for beginners rather a harder one (3/3).3 points

Here are my views on the bass songs. Gloryhammer: pretty easy. Fast gallops which I managed with my fingers, but which I'd guess are picked (and a lot easier picked). A few quick runs of different notes, but only a couple of patterns and not too bad. Alestorm: A little trickier, with a decent amount of fretboard movement, string switching and such. Also, the tuning isn't the most approachable, so better for a higher difficulty (advanced or MC). Still have the RR issue on bass, though. Muse: There's basically only one hard riff, yes, but parts of it have pretty awkward fingerings and it's totally f'ing exhausting. Kind of like Act Like You Know, in that it's a lot harder to play than it looks. My choice for MC by a long shot.3 points

Gloryhammer 97.47%: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=608101764 I'm not a metal fan, at all, but I played through a few times to make sure I got a score this week. :) My comment: I really dislike these types of songs, not because they are metal--though it helps--but because I find that the game doesn't fit the style well. The triplets (is that what they are called?) are very hard to do, and I know I'm doing it wrong, but the game does not penalize me because it can't tell that I'm doing it wrong. Plus, my arm hurts after... :) L2 points

Scores! (With a lot of rum) http://i.imgur.com/la1WISn.jpgAnd there's nothing more metal than undead unicorns, love Gloryhammer http://i.imgur.com/KmmjHd8.jpgFunny fact: Both bands were founded by Christopher Bowes2 points

Played through the higher difficulty guitar songs. Alestorm: http://i.imgur.com/nmBxdAf.jpg Gloryhammer: http://i.imgur.com/vTKRHKN.jpg Alestorm definitely has harder stuff outside of the leads (which @@fiddlesticks's screenshots show). Hard for me to say exactly how the solos compare without practicing them more, but I definitely wouldn't disagree with it being made MC rather than Gloryhammer (though I'm worried @@TrbInTrbIn will have a coronary if it gets changed). Either order works for me.2 points

a giant leap better... http://i67.tinypic.com/s30t5f.jpg in no way will i be able to make that song sound anyway right over the amp within the week... but i can try2 points

Ok. All fixed in latest beta release. You can download now. Added '&' and '/' back to acceptable character validation. Other changes include: Fixed bug in GetPlatform that caused Xbox360 to select RS2012 Added multi platform support to low bass tuning fix Code clean up and optimization in Packer/Unpacker feature Added underscore to 'Same name xbox issue fix' for consistency Fixed PC to PS3 converter Fixed PS3 and Xbox Packer/Unpacker and naming conventions2 points

I'll take a look at the RR issue in the morning. Let me know if there are any other issues with either song.2 points

and some actual scores for this, the others were older from testing the custom 100 is next http://up.picr.de/24387883dd.jpg a higher score would be hard since I got almost perfects till the end http://up.picr.de/24387885pg.jpg @@MonstaS4 the intermediate songs? 6 is hard for int, but maybe it's harder, the rating often depends on the skills of who added the song, and often it's underrated. I'll play this tomorrow to astimate it.1 point

It's a fine line between pushing yourself to learn something new and giving up in disgust because it's way outta your league. Playing guitar should be enjoyable......the last two weeks have been nothing but frustrating for me so i'm packing up my bat and ball and focusing on some more Clutch this week.1 point

Muse. Ow. XXX. this is rather wrist achey and spaghetti fingery. Hoping to get the pace up so fingers crossed... well that's if I can still cross them after mangling them all up after practice :blink:1 point

Can you make a minimalistic, simplified example GP5 file with an accompanying EOF file that shows the correct rhythm? Depending on how complex it is to program for, adding handling for triplets inside of a triplet feel measure may be a little too inception for me to make a priority.1 point

I'd like them to release Fools Gold or there was a GP file so I could make it myself Literally what I had in mind, or Sugar Spun Sister. I'd welcome any Stone Roses song gladly into my collection. My favourite band of all time without a doubt. Fools Gold would make such a great DLC song just based on how funky the guitars are in the track. I found a GP file for Fools Gold but real life is getting in the way of my Rocksmith commitments at the moment Would be badass if you made it some time though man! Any GP files for any other Roses songs by any chance? Times like these is when I wish I knew how to make CDLC.1 point

Thanks, guys. I went to that topic and downloaded the converter followed by PowerTab 2. After my anti-virus software won the war with PowerTab2, and I got all reset and running again, I downloaded MuseScore 2.0.2. It works great, awesome looking program. The converter converted all of my psarcs in less than a minute, including all of the original RS2014 songs. Maybe now, when I get overwhelmed by the screen or RR, I can use the gp file and work on the problem spot Now, my fingers hurt enough to take the rest of the evening off, I'll go at it again tomorrow or Monday. Thanks again, Lance1 point

I was thinking New Born is pretty hard for intermediate but I realise it's really just the odd chords that are the trickiest parts. Haven't played it in years. Another 10 MC lead, oh dear1 point

http://oi64.tinypic.com/30at4l0.jpg I would make the argument Alestorm is harder... Lower tuning, more intricate sections, solos are similar to Gloryhammer, Most of the scores for unicorn will be the chuggy bits, so the winner will win by a fraction of a percent1 point

Well, I thought I would give this a try. I just got my Rocksmith 2014 this past Wednesday, late, but I have toying around with guitars since the late 1980s. I greatly disliked the beginner song, Cannonball. Very much so not my type of music. So I decided to get my bass out and try the bass song and got this on the second try: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/366283084963302803/BB1EF4C5E79B9CC67A03359CB623A29DEB76299E/ Not a fan of metal, but that song was not too bad, and far less offensive than Cannonball. I will probably be a permanent beginner on guitar, so start me in that category.1 point

Getting the last it's possible to get out of me. Can play everything on 95%, but first speedy part only at 90 and second speedy part only at 85 percent of speed... It isn't very comfortable to play on high frets of Les Paul typed guitar: distance between frets is small + fingers are placed somekind under angle to freatboard (cuz neck is really wide there) makes me often to occasuanly mute high strings with fretting hand, and string action is much bigger.http://i.imgur.com/qQ7eY1L.jpg1 point

I am so exited! I am (more or less) done with my very own Rocksmith Footswitch and it is AWESOME! Thanks again to Rodman for this great idea and this detailed tutorial. I would like to share my experience with all of you, because I extended the idea. When I told him about my plans for the footswitch, a friend of mine had the idea to use a Arduino microcontroller instead of a regular keyboard. At first I thought this was way too much effort, but then I realized the potential. Footswitch with the first three LEDs alight, so it is currently in Mode #3: Here is a link to a folder with some more pictures: http://1drv.ms/1sls8Pi So, what are the advantages of using the Arduino instead of a keyboard? Arduino is a tool / platform / combination of both open source hardware and software. The microcontrollers have in- and output pins that can receive signals (e.g. closing an electrical circuit by pushing a botton) or send signals (e.g. lighting a LED by sending current through an output). When connected to a PC (via USB), they can also send signals to the computer, for example (emulated) keyboard signals. The code to control how the Arduino works is written in C - it is very easy, due to the number of tutorials available. By writing a useful program and uploading it to the Arduino, I enabled my footswitch to do lots of things, not only send the keyboard keys 1, 2, 3 and 4. With the 5th button on my footswitch, I can select different modes by counting how many times I pressed it. It works something like that: This explanation is not complete, but I hope you get the idea! The next thing I want to implement is a "hold button" command in Menu Mode to be able to navigate through longer lists or change settings like volume more easily. But at this point I can already control the whole game with nothing but my feet :D (Edit 1 hour later: I think I found a good way. If I press a button several times in a certain amount of time, it is now set to be kept pressed until I press another button.) So, what components did I use? I bought the Fame FS500 5 button footswitch. Here is a link to a german store, where it only costs 24,90€. http://www.musicstore.de/de_DE/EUR/Fame-FS500-5-fach-Fu-schalter-/art-GIT0010472-000?recId=51c07e20-9984-11e4-9d13-448a5bd44d45 It was the cheapest footswitch with 5 buttons that I could find on the internet, but the quality is very satisfying. The casing is completely made of metal (no plastic) and has a rubber bottom that prevents it from sliding around on the floor. It's also quite heavy, which feels good. When unscrewing the original 7 pin connector, the remaining hole is large enough to fit a usb plug through. The soldering and electrical connections inside are done well. Infact due to the pin connector that was used, I was able to connect the Arduino to the buttons with only pin cables. Soldering was only required to separately control the LEDs. The Arduino Board is a Arduino Leonardo (not all Arduinos can be used as emulated keyboards). Here is one tutorial that shows how to send keystrokes with the push of a button: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/KeyboardMessage And this one shows how to control a LED: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Fade Basically all I had to do was combine and extend those tutorials for 5 buttons and 5 LEDs. If you want to do it yourself those tutorials should tell you everything you need, so I won't do my own tutorial. But if anyone is interested, I am happy to share the code of my program! You need a special (free) software and drivers for the Arduino. Compiling and uploading a new program to the Arduino and resetting it takes about 10 seconds. But once you uploaded a program, emulating a keyboard works plug&play on any other PC (I tested Win 7 and 8), no drivers required. As you can see, the possibilities are nearly endless. I can extend the functionality for Rocksmith, but of course I can also use the footwitch for any other purpose. I could configure the buttons for use on the desktop or in other games and either upload a new program each time I want to use it for something else, or use the buttons to change the way it works. This is the first time I have used an Arduino, and it is exiting to think about what completely different stuff can be done with those. Go check out the "What have you built with Arduino?" videos on their website ;) Regards, Azrael1 point
