  2. Well, I thought I would give this a try. I just got my Rocksmith 2014 this past Wednesday, late, but I have toying around with guitars since the late 1980s. I greatly disliked the beginner song, Cannonball. Very much so not my type of music. So I decided to get my bass out and try the bass song and got this on the second try: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/366283084963302803/BB1EF4C5E79B9CC67A03359CB623A29DEB76299E/ Not a fan of metal, but that song was not too bad, and far less offensive than Cannonball. I will probably be a permanent beginner on guitar, so start me in that category.

  6. Arrrrgh! so frustrated with this song! I can make the bar chords register 99% of the time, but just cannot get those 3 high strings to ring out cleanly. It seems like the underside of my first joint is right over the b string and not pushing down on the fret enough. http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/d805zyywv5927d0/221680_2016-01-23_00001.png?dl=0

  7. Hi everyone, I really did my homework last week, I just couldn't deliver it on time, sorry about that. I really should post on fridays, we'll see. So, @@Rodman said he has 4 guitars, each with a different tuning. I just have an old one, but really could afford another. Thing is I never thought about using them like that, i's so damn practical! For the time being, a friend keeps her guitar at my place, so having instant E and Eb is just so great, so thanks @@Rodman I can't believe it never entered my mind. http://s12.postimg.org/aac53vnjh/2016_01_19_00001.jpg subir gif

Had one last try but I have to be in work early, no score still as I messed up at the exact same point as the other 11 attempts. spent so much time in RR but alas nowt to show for it, maybe I'll play this once a day for the next few months and see if I can eventually get a score in August :) 2017  Looking forward to a new week and some less pinky stressing songs :D again, great work chaps and chapesses on scoring! x

  11. @ personally feeling I need more than a week for MC and ADV, not because of lack of time to practice but because for me they're both quite stamina draining songs, sprained my pinky slightly practicing the MC ... Could probably do int pretty quick but for the competition I see no point, though I do want to learn it eventually for my own personal pleasure. It is not for the want of trying, I am, We are trying! The MC and ADV are nuts songs, great fun yes, but for myself and maybe a couple of others we just haven't quite the technique/speed/dexterity/memory etc to spam the boards with triple X screenshots such as mine :) I'm not moaning about being in MC but I find now I'm there I desperately want to stay competitive but am struggling to do so due to inexperience. I dedicated myself completely to practicing MC and though I can play 80% of the song, my inexperienced brain does not allow me to accomplish this in the time frame, it's a ball ache as I have been torn between "fuck it just play the others!" And "noooooo don't.give.in!" I had to though, unless my pinky gets better by tomorrow, then I will try again. These are great songs but I think when folk are transitioning from one class to another, we don't immediately become fully accomplished in that class. That's my tuppence worth on the lack of scores anyway :)

  13. Getting the last it's possible to get out of me. Can play everything on 95%, but first speedy part only at 90 and second speedy part only at 85 percent of speed... It isn't very comfortable to play on high frets of Les Paul typed guitar: distance between frets is small + fingers are placed somekind under angle to freatboard (cuz neck is really wide there) makes me often to occasuanly mute high strings with fretting hand, and string action is much bigger.http://i.imgur.com/qQ7eY1L.jpg

  14. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one that failed the MC song (bass) on the last F****** note! This is discouraging. :( It's the only song I've played this week. I'm none too happy that I haven't manage to complete it at least three times. :( I'm supposed to be advanced, but I prefer the MC song and only have time to practice one. Not sure what that does to my ranking, though... L

I cant learn the rhythm and i cant hear in my head what it is im supposed to play. So it like playing without hearing anything. It feels better than it did when i got my best score. But i still always end up with a lower accuracy. I think the song is cursed.

  34. I still have pretty much no idea what to do with tones (especially for guitar, since I don't have one). If anyone could advise on the most common types of adjustments (EQ, pedals, whatever) that would be a great help! I recently (as of Feb. 2016) started adding the notes.eof files to my download folders. For some of the older ones I think the .ini files were different which can cause the sync to get screwed up, so I'll try to update the older ones (I'll probably be wanting to do serious updates to lots of my older CDLC anyway). So far, my Blotted Science, Between the Buried and Me, Coroner, HeXeN, Nevermore, Skeletonwitch, Streetlight Manifesto, Testament, Vektor, and Warbringer customs have the notes.eof file in the download folder. See here for the basics of how to set things up so you can use the notes.eof files. Finished CDLC (organized roughly by genre): I haven't done every custom by every band listed here, which should hopefully be obvious. Just that I've done at least one by each band (I'll try to add the exact number I've done in parentheses). If I feel a band belongs in multiple categories, I'll put them in multiple times. 40. Here are my views on the bass songs. Gloryhammer: pretty easy. Fast gallops which I managed with my fingers, but which I'd guess are picked (and a lot easier picked). A few quick runs of different notes, but only a couple of patterns and not too bad. Alestorm: A little trickier, with a decent amount of fretboard movement, string switching and such. Also, the tuning isn't the most approachable, so better for a higher difficulty (advanced or MC). Still have the RR issue on bass, though. Muse: There's basically only one hard riff, yes, but parts of it have pretty awkward fingerings and it's totally f'ing exhausting. Kind of like Act Like You Know, in that it's a lot harder to play than it looks. My choice for MC by a long shot.

  42. well bass diff are about (3), 6-6-6 so the order of int-adv -mc is rather subjective. My order is - - Muse basically one pattern not hard to learn - a true int bass line - Gloryhammer - relatively easy metal bassline, that does require advanced endurance - Alestorm - it´s C Std and its a lil mharder than the Unicorn song open for discussion o.c.

  49. Great topic. Something I found myself thinking about as well. For me, I love rock music. I go to concerts and right before the band takes the stage, the stage is all setup, the crowd is anticipating, The roadies are off the stage. I ALWAYS think. "man, i want to be that guy coming out to rock us" Well, that will never happen and was always a bummer to me. Rocksmith was the key for me. I will be 50 this year. I have tried in the past to learn, but it just wasnt fun. Now I play along to Rocksmith and I know it makes me sound better than i am but I feel like i am actually playing something. That keeps me motivated. Not scales or practice. But playing along. I used to go home after my day and listen to music. Now i strap on the bass and play with it. thanks to this site, i can play about anything I want to play along with. I will never be onstage, but I can turn down the lights and turn up the volume and have a good time. And by doing that, i have gotten better! I dont care if I am ever in a band now. This is enough for me and it is fun. So my mindset is to have fun on Rocksmith and not worry about getting really good to be in a band. but I have got pretty decent and I am learning things about the bass the better i get. I dont play everyday, but at least 15-20 hours a week. I have been playing the bass for about a year now. it is my release and my fun. My love for music fuels my desire to play. And i have always been wow'd by musicians. How do they do that...
    1 point
  50. I really shouldn't respond as I just picked it back up after a year long depression and couldn't do much of anything but, right now, my motivation is because I want to be like the artists who play the music professionally. Not that I want to be a professional, but I idolize the creators and want to show myself that I can be like them with steady practice. Also, I get really passionate about certain songs and feel closer to them if I can learn them. I enjoy using my fingers to make things happen whether thats on Starcraft or on my bass guitar.
