  1. If you already meet the above things, please answer a few questions for us so we can review them and get you your shiny red name: Why do you want to be a moderator? Simply, to better the community. I truly love teaching, and tend to try to resolve conflict by trying to umm, smooth things out ( not all issues require mods to drop the hammer ) I am trying to be an ACTIVE member of this community and have begun charting CDLC along with hanging out in the chat and trying to help people with problems they may be having. What do you bring to the Customs Forge community that is unique to you? I don't know that it is unique but I have a firm grasp of the issues that arise with making customs run and I am LEARNING EoF. I also have a very solid knowledge of what makes computers tick and can make them run MUCH better. ( I.E. Tech Support, a member ID that I would suggest.) I tend to be VERY patient with questions and try to help people through thier issues and get them up and running. Cake or Pie? (this is important) Not sure why this is important,, but PIE, definitely pie. How much time do you spend on the site daily? I try to be on here at LEAST daily and generally,, about 4 hours in the evening,, my time. This obviously will fluctuate as I have a real life, job , kids, wife ETC. Have you filled out your profile information on the site? As far as I know I have filled out more than many. If you were to need more, let me know. Have you ever been a Moderator anywhere else before? I have not moderated elsewhere but I have ADMINED many game servers and a Vent ( Which I am still an active ADMIN of Which is available for ANYONES use, as right now the population has dwindled)). Can you follow instructions? I follow instructions well, 8 years Army and 7.5 years law enforcement, so, yes, I can follow direction well.

  2. Today I found a workaround for getting the low bass notes such as low B to work with Rocksmith. I posted a scrappy test song in the database but they already pulled the plug on that, can't say I blame them :). But I got enough data for it to work as a proof of concept, you can see the discussions we had here. Me and a couple of people got a low B note, the thickest string on a 5-string bass to register in Rocksmith. My theory was that the reason Rocksmith hits the wall at C1 is because after that you go into the zeroes, B0 is next. I thought it must be because Rocksmith doesn't like handling those zeroes in there. So could Rocksmith be tricked into thinking it is still in the 1st octave while in reality it's playing the notes that are of the 0th octave? This brings us to the workaround. First off, you fiddle with the tuning in Editor of Fire. There you set the tuning to whatever is your desired tuning +6. (This is now pretty much obsolete, it's better to set it to +12, see the edits) In my test, I wanted the tuning to be in BEAD, the 4 lowest strings on a 5-string bass, so I set the tunings to 1,1,1,1. Because the B-string would be -5 compared to the standard 4-string E-string, I get -5+6=1, and so forth. Then you just chart the song as it is played in the desired tuning. If you have a chart like that already, just change the tuning accordingly and don't transpose the notes. Next, in the Rocksmith toolkit you set the tuning for the arrangement the same as in eof, in this case 1,1,1,1. But here's the trick: you counter the +6 transpose you did in the tuning by setting the middle A as 311.2 Hz in the tuning pitch section. This causes all notes to be 6 semitones lower than normal. Now, in my case the notes displayed for the strings are F1,A#1,D#2,G#2 but because of the different frequency reference the frequencies correspond to the notes B0,E1,A1,D2 in A440, or the pitch reference we normally use. As you can see, we have technically eliminated the 0th octave from the notes. EDIT: I just realized you can probably do this in a more elegant manner. If you set your tuning to desired tuning +12 and offset that by setting the tuning pitch as 220 Hz you'll get the correct letters for the notes, they'll technically be an octave higher and octave lower at the same time if that makes sense :) The reason I went with +6 is because I first tried this pitch offset on the E standard tuning where you start off from 0 and are capped by the 11 semitone limit in EoF, but for B standard -5+12=7 if my math doesn't fail me here :P Important: Make sure you're not using the same tuning in the toolkit for guitar and bass arrengements. We have already seem some snapped strings because the creator edited the "B standard" tuning in the toolkit to be 7,7,7,7 for bass and that also got applied to the guitar parts. You have to have two separate tunings, one normal for guitar and one with this trick for bass, you can look at LittleLui's post further down to see how he did this. In game when you pick the song it shows the wrong note letters for the strings when you are tuning but they will tune to the correct desired note with the in game tuner (the game says the recording is "slightly" flat or sharp, just 6 semitones :P). Now if you've done everything correctly the chart should come out as it should be played in the desired tuning, and better yet, the game actually registers all of the notes. (EDIT: This bit is obsolete with the +-12 method, the notes should be the same. Though it will say it's in A220 tuning instead of A440) I believe this should work the same for even lower tunings, if you wanna have an A string you just set the tuning on that to -1 (edit: 5 with the +-12 method), or a Bb string with the tuning set to 0 (edit: 6 with the +-12 method) for that particular string. Some funny food for thought: the theoretical lowest note you could pull off with this is Gb0 I believe. Now, the maximum tuning you can set in eof is +11, and if you set the tuning pitch as 233.1, or 11 semitones below the standard middle A you could theoretically have rocksmith register a Db0 note, that is just over 17 Hz :P (actually, after what I realized, see the edit, the lowest you can go is theoretically C0 I think) This will need some testing and fiddling around, obviously it's not an intended solution. Then again, the whole concept of cdlc's were not intended by the developer :) EDIT: Here's a video of an actual cdlc by Rockfirstlast made with this trick, seems to be working perfectly. The tuning is C# Drop B Link Update: LittleLui has done a cdlc with BEAD tuning for bass with the +-12 method and it's working. The cldc is No Love Lost by Carcass if you wanna test it for yourself. He also made this comment in another post where he explains the trick in simple steps for already charted songs, might be useful to post it here: where csct stands for the toolkit of course.

  3. Since I noticed a gigantic gap in how to make a proper DLC for Rocksmith 2014. I am going to be doing a video next weekend of how to make a DLC from scratch. Going to cover ever aspect of making one. From beginning to end. Hopefully it helps some people or improves the quality of DLCs that are being released. Will post it next weekend in the Help Thread. Hopefully I can get it sticky'd.

  4. Why do you want to be a moderator? I'd like to have the chance to abuse some powers What do you bring to the Customs Forge community that is unique to you? My creepiness, there is no other like it. Cake or Pie? (this is important) As long as it is chocolate, i don't care. How much time do you spend on the site daily? Probably too much for my own sanity, but ill get back to you on that once i get a stopwatch. In the meantime, a fuckton. Have you filled out your profile information on the site? Ish, but only because i can't be arshed to fill out the rest. Have you ever been a Moderator anywhere else before? Admin on a SWAT-4 server count? If so, yes. Otherwise, no. Can you follow instructions? Fuck no.

  5. The most common problem with cheaper guitars is poor intonation and action. A more rare problem, but one to be wary of is incorrect fret placement. The action is easily judged with the eye and fingers. If you can see that the action is way too high, you should know that the notes will be sharp as you progress from the nut to the bridge because you're actually bending the strings in order to reach the frets. If you can see that the action is 1/2" too high but the 15th fret is perfectly in tune, walk away. :) Here are some tips on how to analyze the setup and quality of a guitar: Tune it to the nut, then press on each fret (on each string) and determine if the notes go sharp or flat. Could you adjust the action and truss rod a little bit (if the cheap guitar has one) to correct it? When I'm considering buying a guitar, whether it be cheap or expensive, I sit down at an amp that has a built in tuner and get it precisely in tune from the nut. Then, I'll bar the 12th fret and see how the tuner shows its accuracy. Check the 5th and 7th frets as well. If it passes the above fret test, the intonation test comes next, in the form of harmonic tuning. Natural Harmonic (NH) tones are the same at E5 & A7, A5 & D7, D5 & G7, G12 & (not NH) B8, and B5 & e7. I typically don't use the tuner for the latter test because you can tell by ear if they are the same. The tuner can help you confirm the notes aren't both sharp or flat, but that is rare because of the math involved in natural harmonics. This test takes string action out of the mix except for the G12. If the tones differ, or are consistently sharp or flat, BUT the fret tuning test passed, you'll probably want to put it down and walk away because this would mean that the frets are not measured correctly between the bridge and the nut. Let me clarify that last statement: If you put a tuner on a guitar and measure accurate notes at the nut, 5th, 7th, and 12th frets, but a NH tuning test finds the notes are off, then the measure between the bridge and the nut is not accurate. If the harmonics are perfect but and the frets are too, then it is likely a setup issue. Movement of the bridge saddle (used to adjust intonation) toward or away from the nut will cause the harmonics to quickly go sharp/flat (respectively) but the fretted notes will change more slowly. Using the above method, you may find that you've just picked up an $100 guitar that has amazing playing potential, or a $1000 used guitar that is never going to make you happy.

  7. We have some openings in our moderator staff. For the most part, the community polices itself and is very low maintenance. That being said, we still need to keep an eye out and look through every post just to make sure the general rules are being followed. We presently have 19,454 members and 27,641 posts as of 1605 EST April 14th. That is a huge task just reading all that. If you have ever considered becoming a larger part of our community, here are some guidelines to help you decide! We expect our moderators to do the following: Log on almost every day. Read through the posts and reply with helpful and polite information. Follow the rules themselves. (All of them) Ask questions. – This is more an understanding that you aren’t a one person show. Have a general understanding of where our community is headed and be a part of that. I look forward to hearing from you! Joe - Spades Please copy and paste everything from the line down into a new post and reply to the questions. ---------- If you already meet the above things, please answer a few questions for us so we can review them and get you your shiny red name: Why do you want to be a moderator? What do you bring to the Customs Forge community that is unique to you? Cake or Pie? (this is important) How much time do you spend on the site daily? 9. I was playing around with the Ignore function in EOF the other day -- this allows you to set notes that Rocksmith can see but doesn't count as a hit or miss. BUT: if any of the notes are set to ignore Rocksmith will never report full mastery. On one song, where I'd set entire sections to ignore, the song stuck at 35 percent. On another song, where I only set a few notes to ignore, it stuck at 96%. I don't know if this is what's happening with these songs, but it's a possibility.

  13. You don't even need to open two separate EOFs, you can copy and paste between tracks to combine them. But the way I've done it is to prepare the track in GP -- I like to create a new track and combine them into that, this way I keep the original tracks as is, in case something goes wrong (and for me, something always goes wrong!)

  16. If you already meet the above things, please answer a few questions for us so we can review them and get you your shiny red name: Okay Why do you want to be a moderator? I love this forum. I love the community, the attitude, the CDLC. I spend pretty much all day here in chat while I create my CDLC and help out those that I can. I want to live in a world where we can play any song imaginable just by looking through the search database. I would like to be a part of that in any way or form that I can. What do you bring to the Customs Forge community that is unique to you? My crowning achievement will be completing the entire Pearl Jam catalog in hopefully two months. Before I started there was NO PJ. Now look at what we have! After that I will be creating CDLC for as long as Rocksmith is a thing. Cake or Pie? (this is important) Apple Pie only if it's warm and I have Vanilla Ice Cream. Otherwise cake. How much time do you spend on the site daily? Even though I work 9 hours a day...I probably spend a good 3-4 hours on here while I make my CDLC and 2 hours at least daily actually playing RS. On Weekends I spend about 5-6 hours on here. Have you filled out your profile information on the site? I believe I got everything. Have you ever been a Moderator anywhere else before? No but I have been a Supervisor in real life! I have always wanted to be a mod however. Can you follow instructions? Your wish is my command.

  17. I have 2 schecter guitars, one is a Jeff Loomis signature series 7string with floyd rose. this guitar is an absolute shredding machine! 24 jumbo frets, emg active pickups, and grover tuners ... i couldnt ask for more. i also have a schecter omen 4 extreme bass .. it has schecter active pickups that rival my EMGs, and plays silky smooth .. half the time i play, i feel like i dont play well enough to deserve such a wonderful instrument.

  18. I use RS with an AxeFX II, and a pair of KRK Rokit 8 studio monitors. GUitar goes straight into the AxeII. Put an FX loop in the signal chain, plug the RS cable in to the FX send. Turn down the player guitar volume in Rocksmith, so the only guitar you're hearing is processed by the AxeII. Works like a dream.
