  1. Hello,We are now taking votes on releasing an CDLC approved area. mini-faq: What does this mean? If the votes equal "YES", we would launch a new CDLC area for APPROVED CDLC's only. This means the CDLC will have everything finished, and tested by the community. This would include: Lead, Rhythm, Bass, Vocals, Custom Tones, Synced up, RR And optional DD. (NO issues) (exception is if one of the Arrangement types isn't available for the song)Additionally, you would need the appropriate album artwork, title, and everything else So like SA's old system, right? Similar yes, but better executed. All of the "approved" CDLCs would have to be 100% finished, in the correct format, and at an appropriate host that won't delete the song in a week or month if not downloaded. EDIT: This is NOT going to a separate section! There will be three filters - approved, unapproved, and in progress. The default will be to show all customs, but you can filter if you would like to see only approved customs. It will be integrated within our current search.

  3. I think a good way to avoid this would be to only allow each user to have only one finished custom in the approval process at any one time. If they don't finish it to address user feedback, they have to withdraw it to put it back in an unfinished/incomplete category before they can bring up another one for approval. And to prevent obviously unfinished charts from wasting the time of reviewers, previous suggestions to track which user-tested parts (ie. a particular arrangement) of a chart have been tried and seem to work could help. A chart can wait to be fully reviewed until at least a bare minimum (all arrangements, riff repeater, etc) have been user tested in general.

  4. The approved section on SA was the reason I no longer wanted to be a Mod on there due to the approved section being changed for just any old shit goes in here regardless of how complete it was, If you are saying complete then mean it complete not missing anything.

  5. My concern is for the less popular songs. Songs that are hard to play, or are by bands that most people don't listen to. They'll tend to never get approved because they lack traffic. This leads to needing testers who are motivated to test these songs. How does a more obscure song get some recognition? How does a charter who puts a ton of time into an obscure song get a song approved and get the recognition? And I don't have answers for it either. I just like more obscure music and I want to see those songs getting charted too. Just a thought, really, for consideration.

  6. This may relate to point 4, What if in the Customs Database, The 'Parts' section (L/R/B/V) in addition to keeping the not done sections as greyed out, parts at a Workshop level were coloured bronze, parts that need tweaking get silver letters and parts that "sound like Jimi himself were playing" get gold/diamond sections. Example: (totally made up, if you've released song X and are now crying because I'm saying it's bad, its not you, it's me) I look through recent posts in the database and see that B.B. King "Every day I have the blues" is fresh out of someone's workshop and is in the database listed as: [L] coloured gold - (it's accurate and it's gotten (~5) votes [R] coloured black/silver - (released, but only a vote or 2 for approval so far, maybe in the song thread, someone has commented tone/bends aren't quite right yet, and author mentions plans to fix it) coloured grey - (I have a bass tab, and am confident and willing to chart it, so offer to do that part and send it to the original CDLC'er for co-credit or no credit or whatever.) [V] X or [N/A] - (pretend it's an instrumental and no lyrics exist, so song could be 'Approved' without needing this category filled) I think as a partial solution, it could get more people involved who wouldn't otherwise. example: someone who loves lyrics but has no confidence with guitars could quickly skim through the list and find songs to contribute to by learning to chart the lyrics, which would leave more time for guitar charters to chart. EDIT: append an [A] part for Album art (maybe rate the metadata here like Artist/Title/Album Cover are correct, and display correctly in game - there are a few songs that sort weird from capitilisations, etc)

  7. http://puu.sh/5Ghqf.png I’m proud to announce my RS2014 CDLC project: Bass Hero! It’s very simple; I’m just doing CDLC for bass players of Guitar Hero songs! (GH 1 to GHA excluded)The advantages are:-I have the files for every instrument; this means I can take the bass-only audio files and make the most accurate tabs possible! I think that’s important, because the bass players often have bad tabs, due to the fact we can’t always hear it very good in the original songs-I have access to the GH files, so the tempo map is already fixed, and notes position too! Gain of time guaranteed!-Vocals are also already made, so you will have them for every song! -By not making guitar, I’m having a huge gain of time; every CDLC I make for this project will have most functions such as dynamic difficulties, custom tones, potential automatic tone changes, etc…-I am choosing songs randomly; this means you will have a large variety of music genres and you have no excuse to be jealous!-If you want to do a guitar part, go ahead and send it to me! Your contribution will be directly integrated to the pack.-If a CDLC for a song's already made with bass but the bass tab doesn't looks right, I will ask to the creator if he accepts my help If you have anything to ask; anything you want to be changed, please ask in this thread! You will be joyfully answered! Here is the list of songs already made: 13 GHWT:Rise Against - Re-Education (Through Labor)Lostprophets - Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast) GHM:Sytem of A Down - Toxicity (removed for being officially released)Mercyful Fate - Evil GHGH:Extreme - Play With MeTwisted Sister - I Wanna Rock GH5:David Bowie - FameJohn Mellencamp - Hurts So GoodBilly Squier - Lonely Is The NightMy Morning Jacket - One Big Holiday BH:Snow Patrol - Take Back The City GHVH:Deep Purple – Space Truckin’Foreigner - Double Vision

  9. I just posted my very first custom (here: http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/pale-blue-eyes-r1839 ) and I thought I'd start a thread just to say thanks to this community. It was definitely this site that inspired me to jump in and do this, so a special thanks to @@Unleashed2k for putting it together so quickly. And a huge thanks to @@raynebc, and his endless patience with me as I was trying to figure it out how to use EOF. I really had a blast making my first custom, and I'm already looking forward to the next one. Hope I can help other people too.

  13. Hi, With EOF, you can add sections and phrases. Each section is divided in one or many phrases. Sections are generally indicated on the partition (or the tab) : - intro - verse - chorus - bridge - ... - outro The same section name can appear many times in the same song. The phrases are used to identify the same sequence of notes and are usually from 2 or 4 measures length. If you use DDC to create the Dynamic Difficulties, the names of sections and phrases are not important (for example, I always use the same name for all my phrases in a song). For DDC, the most important thing is the start measure for each section and phrase (always define a section or a phrase on the main beat of a measure). To define a section in EOF : - Select the main beat of the start measure (vertical bar) - Use [beat][Rocksmith][Place RS Section] - Select the name of the section - Click on the [OK] button To define a phrase in EOF : - Select the main beat of the start measure (vertical bar) - Use [beat][Rocksmith][Place RS Phrase] - Set the name of the phrase - Click on the [OK] button To review the sections and phrases already created : - Use [beat][All Events] to review all sections and phrases in the song - Use [beat][Events] to review local section and phrase of the selected beat

  16. in terms of obscurity, ALL SONGS THAT ARE SUBMITTED WILL BE TESTED... there's no way around that... it will be a lot of testing, but it's the only fair way to make it happen. there shouldn't be any issue on things getting approved based on how well liked the song is

  17. OK, honest question here. I do appreciate the efforts of our custom content creators, and I don't mean to belittle that. But why exactly do we want to leave CDLC behind? In the scenario above, where the original author is long gone, both from this site and from SA, why wouldn't we want someone to just post it here so people can make use of it? And further, why wouldn't we want to embrace more of an open source model where anybody and everybody is free to add improvements to existing CDLC?

  18. Here's what I've noticed in score attack: The phrase starts green. After enough errors, it goes grey. From there, errors turn it yellow to warn you it's about to fail. After that, it goes red and you see the X. "Perfect" doesn't mean 100% accuracy. It's just what they call the green phrase. If all of your phrases are good enough to remain green, you'll get platinum. If any turn grey or green, you're downgraded to gold. From there, it depends on the amount of red phrases. The threshold to drop to each level appears to be based on the number of notes within the phrase. If you made a few errors in phrases that have large number of notes, you can still get the "percect" phrase. The achievements appear to be "this level, or harder." If you complete it in hard, it will give you credit for easy, medium, and hard. If you're looking to maximize achievements without going crazy going through each level, you can handle them all on hard/master and skip the easy/medium options, yet still get credit for all of them.

  20. alright... couple of things i mentioned in chat, but wanted it to get put up here so people can think on it a bit. 1. the idea of this is really good, makes sense, but should be further diversified IMO... let me explain - it's been explained that the approval hinges on hard factors such as the completeness of the chart in terms of instruments, this makes sense and is nice, but should be its own sub-category for a couple of reasons. those reasons are as follows. 2. reason list =p - lots of songs don't have all parts involved, or some people may not be able to find certain tabs or whatever. leaving only one particular instrument to be done. for the sake of completion, yes, you'd like them all, but if they aren't it shouldn't hurt your chances of being "approved" - some people may only care about one of the instruments in particular, why pseudo punish them for only doing what's relevant to them if they make it neat, playable, and well organized? other portions or even complete versions can be made my other people if they really want it, or a collaboration can be done in order to get all charts involved produced. things like vocals are a grey area in terms of their importance as well because they don't actually DO anything but fulfill the completeness effect. 3. Important notes/considerations - people will put higher weight on "approved" songs in terms of quality and worthwhile-ness to download just because it's given a name - primary role of an "approved" section should (in my opinion) be to weed out the good from the okay or bad in terms of functionality of the song or accuracy of the song (such as bad tabs, bad sync, general unplayabilities) - having a specific section for total completeness is a grand idea, but it could function more effectively if it is only a portion of the approved area. 4. suggested alternative (minor changes really) -test on content as explained above, have a large list of accepted works, but show specifically in what areas they were approved (ie. multiple instruments) so on this list, you could say "oh, this song got approved even though it only has guitar and not bass, so we'll show that in our database somehow" - make a list that shows what is available in each approved chart so people can work together to make it more complete and know that the platform they use to complete a song is a sound one - allow people to not do certain instruments, if somebody does a sweet job on guitar but doesn't like bass, just make sure the system can alert people to that information 5. DO have a section for total completeness within this list, but don't disqualify others from getting in based on completeness, it will make it much harder to find good charts and stratify the quality too much to be user friendly everything mentioned above is my personal opinion, and you don't like it, sorry... i'm just explaining things in a way that i believe makes logical sense... if anyone wants clarification on a certain part, i'd love to give it to help!! i'm sure i've confused at least a couple of you with this... thanks!

  25. Chulahoma is my favorite Black Keys album by far. All the songs are Junior Kimbrough covers and it's what got me into Mississippi hill country blues. RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, pretty much anything on the Fat Possum label and some other bands that are heavily influenced by that kind of music, like Hillstomp and Left Lane Cruiser. I love it all. But yeah...that's why I'm working on both Junior's and the Black Keys' version of Meet Me In The City. That may be my most favorite song of any genre.
