  25. some songs i download have really weird/distorted tones when playing bass. For example, the song " i'll be there for you'' from FRIENDS, when i play, it sounds like im playing a guitar and the tone sounds like i am playing Jordan from buckethead lol. (also you can hear the actual bass of the song and it does not sound like that at all) please help and thanks in advance :) p.s. not all CDLC songs are like that just some. p.s.s. i read the comments on the download and no one complains about it.

  34. It's a showlights issue. If you have a pc, i would convert the cdlc on that. I've had this issue with a few songs and converted them with my pc and then they worked fine. I'm not sure if it's a mac toolkit issue or just a toolkit issue in general. Although, the latest toolkit build is working fine for me when converting cdlc's. It could be the customs themselves, you could ask the charter to convert them for you and see if that works. :D

  36. Thanks @@albatross213, @@Gamut and @@Mortalo, I probably spend an hour a day in RR at about 80% speed trying to work the kinks out of the advanced bass track for the week. I try to get to the point of near zero misses before speeding it up in small steps. My difficulty is that the time limit forces me to step up to full speed before my skill level is ready. I'm afraid of reinforcing sloppy habits.

  38. @@2groggy et. all: I think doing stuff above your skill level is a really critical part of improving. Not too far ahead, but just enough to spur on "a-ha!" moments. Getting better is all about playing the songs that are a notch or two above where you're at, and figuring out how to close the gap. Of course, there's nothing wrong with playing easy stuff for pleasure, I do that all the time too. But if you're bulking up at the gym, you don't get bigger by doing the same amount every day - the majority of your practice time should be spent pushing your limits.

  39. This Was My Life is not that difficult. Solo is simple, and chorus is not that bad either. In comparison I felt that Dead End HappyTree Friends is way above my skills and I won't be able to tackle it. @@2groggy Just like albatross said, go to RR and play it at slower speed. Build it up, maybe you'll reach moment when it's too fast to you, then you'll knew that it's moment to try something else. You can possibly play anything at correct slow speed. But as Motive said, it can be boring to do so, and will take more time then play few songs on your level. Here in Championship we try to push you, thus we're trying to level you up soon, bu we understand that it can be of high value to try easier songs, as everytime you play, you improve.

  42. Dead End Friends on bass is up to 85% but still feels like a random note generator on the last third. I decided to try something easier just for fun and got over 98% on Goodnight Moon bass on my 2nd and 3rd attempts. I've got a sinking feeling that working on songs that are too far over my head does more harm than good because I can't learn them and build up my speed in one week, so I make do with sloppy as long as I get a valid score.

This is a practice track for the 12 Bar Blues and it's variations as described in it's Wikipedia page in the keys of C, E, and G. The backing track is a drum-only loop of the 12 Bar Blues example found here. There is a number of sections each representing a variation. in order they are: [*]Standard [*]Shuffle [*]Quick Change [*]Sevenths [*]Basic Jazz Blues Progression [*]Bebop [*]Minor (with 7ths) Standard, Shuffle, and Quick Change are easy and play quite nice together (and so does Sevenths.) Sevenths, and Minor are a little more challenging. Jazz and Bebop are full of chords most other styles of music never use and are full of unusual chords... some you don't even play as chord because they sound horrible, you play them as arpeggios. Each section has 3 phrases each 4 measures (bars) long. So every section is a self-contained 12 Bar Blues progression on it's own, and they mostly play nice going one into the other. The guitar is all chords, 1 every measure or change. You can play anything you want in between: keep strumming, tiny little fills, mix and match. The bass is just the tonic but with a hand-shape (like an arpeggio) for the current chord at every measure or change. Same deal as the guitar just hit your designated note at the right time all the in-between are up for grabs. If you know a little music theory you will notice C, E, G for the C Major chord. That's to say if C is the Root/Tonic, E is III, and G is V. As long as you keep C as the overall tone you don't have to play all sections in the same difficulty. For example you play the first 4 sections as C, C, G, C making it a simple AABA type song. While testing I found that I felt into trance mode and stop paying attention so I threw in different hand positions to try and keep it more interesting. Bassist don't have that in E or G, as I got tired of looking up different fingerings. Alright, I would like feed-back of what works and what doesn't as far as a practice track goes. Depending on how it goes I may add the other keys. Links: PC (The Only One Tested) Mac Xbox360 PS3 Hope it is alright to post this here.
