I decided to stop being a whining capital B and play the advanced bass song for the week, regardless or genre or tuning. I won't admit to drinking the Kool-Aid, but I did OK on the song after a few runs through in RR. I got up to 98.25%, but stopped there to avoid the debate about getting added to the traffic jam up in Master Class Bass. For the record, I vote to let @@missis sumner stay in advanced because her scores will have no bearing on my learning or enjoyment, and scores don't really matter.

Hello CS! Finally got my guitar fixed. I don't plan on being eternally missed, so here's that to get the rust off. My (seemingly) obligation to play advanced this week http://s21.postimg.org/6pvoxbwbr/2015_05_30_00008.jpg There are some strange slides in this song, (4-6 with no starting or ending note) I'ma have to play intermediate now to see whats up with that difficulty, but I do feel like this is a solid 7, the fretting hand is pretty dynamic, and there isnt a lot of comfort whithin this song, you'll either know it or you wont. Okay yes, there are two bass intros, one that cliff plays live, and the other is studio mix....the version here is the studio mix This definitely belongs in mc...10 on difficulty I was kinda shocked by this score too, since I never played Orion...most of my mistakes were at the end...

since my post from yesterday is gone here again with a MC bass update Ironbound Lead 93,98% Ironbound Rhythm 96,82% Addicted to that Rush Bass, 87% I was really surprised when i saw that score. Still cant believe i've hit that percentage of notes, as it feels like my fingers are flopping around randomly on that song. cheers!

Rudy Can't Fail seems a little tough for beginners lead with the sliding barcords and frequent changes in position on the neck. Now I have reason to slow it down in RR and learn all of the nuances that I was missing.

@@then3verend Thanks! Clash Nice song. Lead is really fun for beginner, some barre chords but also many easy single notes. Supergroove It's good that you like funk. Sad that bass has no slap/pop, as that was the funniest thing in their last song. Simon & Garfunkel Who would expect that this rock duo will come to visit us at Championship? Lovely tune, lead is like crazy arpeggios, but no solo, so it eases the difficulty. Rhythm has some tricky chords but it's not that bad. Metallica Best bass line by Cliff? Great song, and it's not that difficult as it would seem. Orion is first from 4 MasterClass Metallica songs currently in Song Selection List. I won't go with back-to-back Metallica, but there will be a lot of it in the following weeks. I had trouble (again) with bass ratings. I rated S&G lowest because it's that kind of bass line that does not give me much trouble, though I think that this short string skips can be deadly for some (as I'm using pick). Both Clash and Supergroove are quite similiar. Clash has more slides and is probably more complicated.

Well said @@Berneer, but in one point I disagree: it's about the vocals. It is nice to have them in a custom, but not important or necessary. If they're missing it's not a sign for a bad work. If you look at my custom you will only find one with vocals which are done by RSBass. My focus is always on the tings that are important for playing the music, and that is a good tab and good tones. The tabs of my customs almost are written by myself and very often transcribed by ear. Who does that themself know how hard and time consuming this can be. Compared with the rest it is the meanwork, but at the end there stays a almost nearly perfect tab what is the most important of all. So my custom has gone through all other steps I test and do necessary improvements like tone adjusting. I never occupied with vocals because there are still important things I'm not always sure about and I have to research.

MasterClass Bass - 86%, 124 streak Much better than I expected. I hoped only not to be downleveled, but it turned out 86%, having audience helps, I believe :P. I agree that there is something wrong with the Outro. I used the Guitar Hero technique of picking hopos, and I saw miss on miss.

I always liked the idea of cooperative custom creation (that was the idea behind my CCCP thread on SA if anybody remembers that :D) but it's hard to get people working together; really hard actually. It works if interests align but that seldom happens or if there's someone that really likes helping out and is actually able to do it; something that's even rarer. The same thing applies to fixing other peoples customs. And another problem with that: it's often more work than starting from scratch and therefore not worth the trouble. I did it only twice and in both cases the end results were acceptable but not up to my usual standard because I had to work with a setup that was already there. Without full control of the creation process, the whole thing can grumble because of a single mistake that was introduced before you even started working on the broken CDLC. I'm not saying it's impossible to fix other peoples mistakes but only that I can understand the reluctance to invest valuable time to make them work as they were supposed to from the start. It's also not very feasible to have people go fixing other peoples mistakes. It would be wiser to try and educate those who release broken customs about how to fix the problems themselves (at least as far as they are capable of doing so) although I know that many of them are unresponsive, in which case they should just be ignored and their work deleted if it is broken to such a degree where it wouldn't pay off to fix the actual release. So in short: Not fixing customs but educating about proper charting has to be the long term solution and that's why we should really focus on establishing a sort of "charting school" where pro's can give newcomers hands-on advice about the whole process. Tutorials are nice and all but specific questions arise all the time and the need to answer them appropriately and in due time is important for keeping someone starting out from losing interest or cutting corners. Let's make this the priority. Fixing customs should only be necessary if all else fails.
