@@Candres To sum up what Rodman is saying - this are valid Power Chords. Don't be afraid, it takes quite some time to make chords register :) School Time! (Though I'm not the best tutor, if any :P, I hope I'm not wrong :ph34r: ) Power chords can be played with 2 strings or 3 strings. Why? 3rd string's note is the same note you're playing on 1st string, but octave higher. Thus octave chords are when you play 1st and 3rd string, muting 2nd one.

What's best, lately some users released fake cDLC (Triumph - Just a game, Satriani - Summer song). Probably the latest way of getting someone to do it right, without waiting in the request list. :wacko: When I stumble upon an unfinished cDLC, mostly done by unknown (not yet known, less known) charters, I give feedback and wait. Some may criticize I shouldn't blame what's free. Smiling on a nicely wrapped present, containing rotten KFC chickendips? No way! When there is still no update, I do the update for my own needs, and why should I not share my correction on the author's page? I did this sometimes (Muse_Bedroom-Acoustics, BlackSabbath- Heaven&hell, Antonio-Banderas_El-Mariachi ...) I would like to see some of us rise, a team of hunters, chasing down these bad and dead cDLC, and correct them, if possible. But what is a bad custom ? I suggest some kind of priority list, based on a playability criteria Easy to fix (import in Toolkit, EOF, takes less than 10 minutes) 1. Crash, Conflicts Low Tuning Error 2. Riffrepeator sections (non-selectable, missing or too large) 3. Tone (nothing worse than a distortion tone for acoustic) Tone Volume Balance (multiple tones can be tricky) 4. Empty charts : waiting 3min for the 1st note ? (merge rhythm and lead) 5. Errors in Titles, Artist names, Album Cover, release year (making the cDLC hard to find, "The" in "Sort Name" ) For a self-respecting author, no reason not to do. Lack of polishing (requires more time) 1. Bad readability (sustains cover next notes, blocks in slides, notes too close together) 2. Bad fingering, fret hand positions, arpeggio's (tough subject ;)) 3. Missing Ornaments (timing of bends, grace notes, pull off, hammer ons, accents) 4. Notes off the beats (creating bad DD) 5. Non-DD and DD versions not in one file. 6. Missing Vocals Hard to fix (requires about same time as to redo it) 1. Sync (no way of having fun with unsynced cDLC) 2. Wrong, incomplete Tabs 3. Missing Instrument lead or bass 4. Wrong Tuning The author can only fix what lies within his theoretical and play skills. Obviously, what we most need are tutorials and software to detect chords, rhythm patterns, and scales. Feel free to complete the list. :)

Hi guys im starting to play guitar i just have a couple of weeks playing im i lost three days trying to do this song, the chords are wrong im just starting with chords and i just realized that i was playing it wrong, i was playing with only 2 fingers because thats what its show on the screen, if u guys could try to check the song before putting it on the weekly challengue i will be gratefull, i dont know a lot of stuffs and i dont think that learning wrong stuff will help me improve on my playing. I always liked the idea of cooperative custom creation (that was the idea behind my CCCP thread on SA if anybody remembers that :D) but it's hard to get people working together; really hard actually. It works if interests align but that seldom happens or if there's someone that really likes helping out and is actually able to do it; something that's even rarer. The same thing applies to fixing other peoples customs. And another problem with that: it's often more work than starting from scratch and therefore not worth the trouble. I did it only twice and in both cases the end results were acceptable but not up to my usual standard because I had to work with a setup that was already there. Without full control of the creation process, the whole thing can grumble because of a single mistake that was introduced before you even started working on the broken CDLC. I'm not saying it's impossible to fix other peoples mistakes but only that I can understand the reluctance to invest valuable time to make them work as they were supposed to from the start. It's also not very feasible to have people go fixing other peoples mistakes. It would be wiser to try and educate those who release broken customs about how to fix the problems themselves (at least as far as they are capable of doing so) although I know that many of them are unresponsive, in which case they should just be ignored and their work deleted if it is broken to such a degree where it wouldn't pay off to fix the actual release. So in short: Not fixing customs but educating about proper charting has to be the long term solution and that's why we should really focus on establishing a sort of "charting school" where pro's can give newcomers hands-on advice about the whole process. Tutorials are nice and all but specific questions arise all the time and the need to answer them appropriately and in due time is important for keeping someone starting out from losing interest or cutting corners. Let's make this the priority. Fixing customs should only be necessary if all else fails.

So, I didn't really budget my time too well for making a serious attempt at a high score on Addicted to that Rush. Thursday night through Sunday I'm probably going to get little to no quality bass playing in, so if I'm going to do anything it needs to be either tonight or somewhat early tomorrow night. I guess the good news is that the current lead doesn't seem unattainable, but even if I grab the lead people will have plenty of time to surpass it. The other good new is that I now have a bunch of exercises synced to clicktracks in PSARC form, so I can remind myself to do them when I'm playing Rocksmith now. Speaking of Addicted to that Rush, if any of you want to try out your newfound tapping skills on another song, I recently made a CDLC for Egypt by Symphony X (only bass for the moment). The instrumental section has lots of tapping for you to enjoy. (Also, if people could test the guitar part for A Fool's Paradise that would be really helpful. I think the last tapping section of the solo the taps didn't get imported, but it should hopefully be somewhat clear what's supposed to be tapped, and I should be able to get around to fixing that today. It should be pretty fun to play :D). There's probably a good amount more Symphony X coming from me eventually, as they have a lot of really cool riffs. But first, I'll probably try finishing off the very first few CDLC I started on.

You need to remember one thing - ctrl+s is your best friend. Keep saving every time you can. But now you know it.

What one person did for one of my really old Customs I made, was they took a video of them playing a part in the song that was charted incorrectly. They then played the correct version and helped point out the notes that needed to be switched and stuff. It really helped making the song better and such. One thing I really like people doing is pointing something out that is incorrect, and giving solid proof that it's wrong. Let's say the song is in a wrong tuning. A lot of the times, people will just say it's incorrect with no evidence. I like it when people give me a link to an interview with the actual band or something, with them stating that the song is in a specific tuning or such. I love it even more when they give me a quality live music video of the band so you know what notes may be wrong. Of course, some live recordings are different than the studio recording, so that should be mentioned. I remember on Smithy's Anvil, there was an 'Approved CDLC List' that had songs that were DLC quality. I though it was awesome, except for one thing. I WOULD ONLY STAY AND USE THESE CUSTOMS. I wanted accurate tabs that were good in quality, everyone does. But I never wanted to go to the actually community customs in fear for downloading an incorrect tab of a song or one that was just badly put together. I feel like I am just rambling on now. But my least favorite thing ever, is I try really hard to get all three tracks on my customs with somewhat good tones to it, while other people literally just put a chart on a track and say: okay here ya go. Like I can honestly go through the list and name off at least 20 tracks that have the rhythm and the lead tracks mixed up. Or the entire song is in just one really bad tone that doesn't sound good. Uh oh, now I am ranting. I guess all I am saying I would love to see a lot more high quality customs! Not saying that there aren't a lot already, most are really good, but when I find a song with a lead track with only the song's solo, and literally nothing else, I just sigh and go chart the song myself.

I'm an educator in sports, and to reach my youngsters, they must bring in the required qualities : self - motivation self - respect. If they come for Glory, or think they are better, I give them a hard time. About education : I like "Whiplash". That's about the same for charters : "Look I made 100 cDLC, 2000 downloads", chances are they may not be that good, when main errors from my list can be read unhealed on their pages. Summersong made 500dl and never worked. Not a quality sign.
