So, I've been kind of stupid and worked on lots of stuff that isn't tapping or legato, so I haven't made a huge amount of progress on the song, but I figured this was worth an update: http://i.imgur.com/QDtervn.jpg Hopefully I'll be able to move on up a bit once I actually practice the stuff that's holding me back on this song. @@2groggy - I totally get you on the floppy strings. D standard I find OK on normal strings, but there are some Mastodon songs that are AGCF (which pretty much has to be played with a B string) and some 5 or 6 string songs that are in drop A (AEADGC or something similar), and for those the low string is barely playable because the tension's so low. As for the genre, CoF isn't really my thing, but the vocals are at least less annoying than I remember them being when I heard some of their stuff a while back. I also think a lot of the fun of this is getting to listen to bands and genres that you wouldn't hear normally. Even if you don't wind up liking them in the end, I always like being exposed to (and learning to play) new types of music.7 points

91% MC Lead - forearm's dead too, unrelated to guitar playing though. Think I pulled a muscle or something, can't exert any force with my middle/ring fingers. I'm having trouble with the selections for my classes this week. For advanced bass, the genre just doesn't interest me and I really hate the floppy strings on low tunings. I've worked on Cradle of Filth for an hour or so and ran it through once to get a score on the board and do something else. 80% I much prefer the Muse selection. It's taken a lot more work in RR at a lot slower speeds too. So far, I'm at 88% accuracy, but the score is not valid because I got leveled down in one section. The ugly truth is that in all of the palm mutes, I'm playing single notes instead of doublets, and the system doesn't notice the MISS. I really prefer this song so I'm going to focus on this one this week. I'll slow it right down in RR until I'm satisfies with my performance and then up the speed a little at a time. Edit, On Muse, I'm playing lead, bot bass.4 points

It's half term so I'm gonna take a miss this week, I'll probably fall off the board but not that bothered tbh, all the more fun working my way back up again, and besides, I really need some practice in the lower tiers to build up some lost "abilities" from slacking off moving house and working etc... So, as loosely promised, a video of Big Gun :) A bit late but... (I went all Australian there!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUrM77qs_2s3 points

not bad this one, I only miss the palm mutes and the tones could be better. tab is ok, a few minor issues but nothing dramatically. http://up.picr.de/22019063cp.jpg but the rhythm path needs some fixes in the calm arpeggio part and during the solo. I will do a request.3 points

I don't know why, but for any reason I cannot pass the outro in Addicted To That Rush with less than 30 misses. If I try at full speed it's 30-50 misses, and even if I play in RR with speed down, at every speed the same, tried until 30% speed, the same. I tried many various ways to play, with hammer ons/pull offs, with slides, plugging each note, with pleck, also tried tapping (index on 3rd fret) and tried all technics in 5-8 fret on E-string, always the same, all about 50 misses and of course one strike in the end. If I get only 30 misses there I'm very lucky, but it doesn't matter which technic I use :(2 points

I like this a song, for a few reason. It very fun to play, despite at a lot missed notes it sounds very good and crazy fun (i`m used my pedalboard for fun and very similar tone), Yes it very hard in same time, but it look like a song with high diff rate for intermediate class, when for they impossible pass in SA, but we early stayed a song for challenge. So second reason that my vote don't change a song it MC players too must be one some time to got rape ass :D Such way MC players will be more good understand feels participants of other class. And i don`t see big issue with charting there, exclude complicated a song with a lot notes+techniques. There my last attempt: http://i.imgur.com/BnSbkyf.jpg2 points

Those palm mutes at the start look oh so easy, but i just can't seem to get it right consistently. It seems like the right way to pick this is to start with an up on the D7 then down on the same note, down on the G9 and up on the same note, then repeat. This sound right?? I'm going to need to work on my pulloff technique too... http://i.imgur.com/Sd6TUJC.jpg I don't know how I didn't get a strike on that end section. As I said above, I'm definitely going to need to practice my tapping and hammer-on and pulloff technique (that section at the end). In addition, I'm probably going to need to go over some of the more complicated tapping sections so I actually have some semblance of an idea of where my hands should be, rather than just flailing at the fretboard and hoping. Edit: Just did a runthrough on RR to see how many notes there are in each section. The first tapping section had 72, the second and third each had about 100, and the outro had about 170. I think the total note count in the song ended up a little below 1300 (maybe 1286?). So those sections (which don't include all of the technical and hard parts) comprise over a third of the notes in the song. In other news, I'm helping out on making a bass version for Mastodon's song The Motherload. I've made the bass part in a Guitar Pro tab (the 19th measure should match the 27th, but I think otherwise this is the most recent version) mostly based on this live performance, especially from ~1:10 through 2:40. The studio version is here, in case anything's done differently between the two versions. If you could check it out and see whether it seems accurate, that would be a big help! I haven't done much of anything with the part during interlude and solo, and it would probably also be especially helpful to double-check what is a slide but shouldn't be (or isn't a slide but should be). Thanks!1 point
