  1. This comes from the discussion over at http://customsforge.com/topic/1470-the-need-to-separate-good-cdlc-from-unfinishedbad-one/ Basically this is a list of guys willing to commit some of our time to testing CDLC and commenting our findings be it at the workshop pertinent to that CDLC, via PM and/or the google docs below, if you need anything tested let us know by posting here or via PM to any of us at the list below, PERSONALLY i preffer PMs that way i get a notification so yeah, also let us know if you would like to test CDLC, this is an open group and we are happy to get more guys to join just try to keep it relaxed and follow our example, cheers :). COMPLETE LIST OF TESTED CDLC: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqgJhtukD_LedE85eVg4V3E2TjlZZ0t0RFJnNlZSU1E&usp=sharing%C2%A0 GUIDELINES FOR TESTERS(this are suggestions but we would really appreciate any tester keeping close to them): -If you plan to test CDLC on a constant or semi-constant basis please let Olorin or myself know(its much more convenient for us if you do it via PM, BTW) that way we will add you to the list. -Its not a job, you can do it on your own speed but we do ask you to report your feedback in at least two places, 1) the CDLC/workshop post of that particular song and also the GOOGLE DOC(link up there). -If you report feedback at the CDLC post please go as much in detail as you feel to but when posting feedback in the google doc please try to keep it short and simple, read the first feedbacks to see how we did it and take from that example. -Also please be sure to post links to the particular file you are reviewing for clarity sake. A little explanation on the google docs entries logic: As you can see we have the basic information colums: Artist, Song, Testers, Link, Status and Feedback. ***Artist/Song: self explanatory, name of the artist and the particular song you tested. ***Testers: basically, US, you, whoever has valid feedback for the CDLC. ***Link: link to the CDLCDB/WORKSHOP/FILE you tested, try to keep them valid in case the autor of the CDLC changes something. ***Status: The current status of the TESTING DONE on the CLDC, NOT the status of the charter project/CDLC, i.e. if it needs more TESTING, if it has been fully tested or not, personally i manage 2 status, FULLY TESTED(which i color GREEN) and AWAITING TESTERS (means me or someone tested the CDLC but would also like for more people to give us feedback on that particular CDLC, specially if i/we didnt tested ALL the features in the song, for example i only tested the bass but no lead) ***Feedback: BASIC feedback, specially short comments that summarize your findings, feel free to go into more detail when posting in the particular CDLC entry at the database or workshop post. For example: "Lead: good but tone is too muddy/overdriven, rhythm: good but a bit imprecise at the end, bass: great" As you can see you give info on what and where needs work but you can go into waaay more detail at the post of that CDLC on the DB. ALSO, i just added the "CHARTER" column, that way we can give credit to whoever charted the CDLC ;). THANK YOU :). TESTERS: CrazyEddie (on weekends) *************** JayEm ********* Olorin ******** urworstknight ****************** xDatBoiSOBLE ******************* Joe ***** piepesado ************** Firekorn *********** EDIT (26,04,2014): Just a small notice, i havent run away haha, ive just been busy with work and will continue to be until the end of this month (april, 2014), i really want this small project to get serious enough to help the community while being relaxed and not stressfull specially for the rest of our team ;).

  3. Totally agree. I only play bass... even went and bought a 5 string hoping to hit Drop B and no go. Fortunately Guitar Center has a 30 day return policy. Swapped out for another 4 string Bass with DR-DDT drop tuning strings. I can play all the way down to C standard with those bad boys no problem.

  4. I'm thinking of doing some Mugstar, they've got some great stuff. Holy Fuck are great too. Om might be fun too, although you'd have to be pretty brave to chart a 20 minute song.... I think they have some shorter material, I'll check it out. Shouldn't be too hard to tab their basslines (which don't change all that much). Slap an octaver on there, and you can play them on guitar too. I'm a huge fan of minimalist repetition music. Any other suggestions?

  5. Only the rhythm guitar is played with a capo, bass and lead guitar are played without one.

  7. I love Schecter guitars. They feel great to me and I can get any sound I want with them. They just plain rock. I've tried so many other guitars (Fender, Gibson, ESP, Epiphone, Jackson, Dean, Etc.) and none of them come close to the quality of my schecters. The company takes a lot of pride in how the guitars are constructed, and each one is personally inspected to make sure there are no flaws when shipping to the store. I know I sound like an advertisement, but that's how strong I feel about my two Schecters. Here are my babies :D http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd148/koikomoru/schecter-2009-diamond-series-c-1-classic-deep-sea-green-6-string-electric-guitar_zps655a3e75.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd148/koikomoru/schecterbass_zps386cf662.jpg

  9. After playing the lead part here is my feedback : Shorter section, inside the riff repeater we have to wait during some long no guitar part. There is one slide starting from the 12th fret on the high E that is not correct. The phrases of the lyrics are off.

  14. Quick question for the bass player : Are you able to play correctly in C standard? just to know if it worth the try to get all the Drop Bb in C standard for the bass part which will allow me to minimize the loss.

  16. I just started to get into the customs game, so I figured what better way to introduce myself than by showing the guitars, I do plan on streaming at some point (though not right away). I have 3 main axes and a 4th thats just a sentimental piece cause it was my first real guitar. I'll just show the main body shots, I have more detailed pics if anyone wants them. First One: Jackson Kelly JK20 in metallic blue, Student Model, Made in India. added coil splitter, duncan pickups. Same wiring configuration and pickups as Petrucci used in his Ibanez models. My first real guitar. Second One: Charvel 750XL in Trans Red (Flametop). Semi limited run model made in japan. Superstrat archtop. Custom made pickups . Third One: Custom Built Warmoth. Stacked Tone and Volume Pots, Custom made pickups, Amberburst (quilt top) mahogany body with a Pau Ferro Neck and Kingwood Fingerboard. Meets all Fender replacement part requirements. Last One: Jackson Custom Death Angel. Trans Green Burst. 5A Quilt Archtop, Koa Neck and Body, Abalone Zig Zag Sharkies, Contoured Bolt Heel, Natural Binding, Ziricote Fingerboard, 3 position spliiter tapped into the 5 blade, allows for 15 or so different pickup configurations. This is my baby, took me about 6 years to get the money together for it when I was in college. And it took them 2 years to build it. One of the last customs before Fender took over. Built by Mike Shannon http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r725/Khellendros5/Guitarsandsuch073_zps71480317.jpghttp://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r725/Khellendros5/Guitarsandsuch068_zps68daae77.jpg http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r725/Khellendros5/Guitarsandsuch064_zps34ed6f28.jpg http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r725/Khellendros5/Guitarsandsuch059_zps9b061d1e.jpg

  17. Use the latest custom song creator toolkit here: http://www.rscustom.net/ In the first tab (Creator) click IMPORT at the bottom. Double click the psarc file, and press enter one more time. It will create a folder on your desktop (if that's the directory chosen before you pressed enter). You can delete that folder when everything is done. http://i.imgur.com/p6iZMN0.png In the SONG INFORMATION section there is a volume box. If you want to make the song volume louder, make the value closer to 0. (-5 is really loud, -8 is normal, -11 is very quiet ) If the song volume is fine and you want to make the guitar louder/softer, double click the tone(s) in the TONES section. You can change the guitar volume here, but closer to 0 is quiet (-13 is very quiet, 22 is normal, 30 is really loud). When you're done, press GENERATE and it'll spit out a psarc file again if PC is checked in the PLATFORM area. If you get an error, make sure you uncheck Mac/XBOX,PS3, unless that's the format you want.

  18. Kasnitch, those are beautiful ESP's. I used to own an early 90's ESP M-2 Custom in Lemon yellow, best guitar I have put my hands on to date; I expect the newer ESP's are only an improvement. bought it used for 300 in '05, traded it for an 87' Ricky 4001. Still a massive regret letting it get away, Rick's come up for sale often but that guitar was something special! that said, Here's what i'm currently playing (Bass porn heavy!): What I do most of my recording on, MIJ Fender Aerodyne Precision Classic, P/J tone, Super thin/light P body, Jazz neck profile, one of my favorite workhorses! http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/FenderP_zpsad47e124.jpg http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/FenderP2_zps63237640.jpg my Eb bass, Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass: http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/Squierjazz_zpsee7b1644.jpg And the two that don't see the outside world very often, I think both were around 400 models made: The Boat Anchor! Gibson Silverburst Explorer Bass: I picked this up because it is identical to Skwisgaar skwigelf's 6-string "Thunderhose" explorer, in bass form. :) http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/EXplorer1_zpsff5942a3.jpg http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/Explorer2_zpsa613aea3.jpg Hipshotted Gibson SG Supreme Fireburst Bass (07' Guitar of the Week promo): The newest addition, went looking for something that would make it easier to move around, came up with this one. http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/SG1_zps5ee3f3aa.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k435/Altamont613/SG2_zps6d06d8f2.jpg I love them all but I've really taken to the short scale SG lately, The finish really comes to life in low light situations and it feels like I work less to do more. :)

  19. When I was first learning, I just put my hand in a fist, then stretched all my fingers out as far as they could go, I just kept doing that for ages. I'm sure there are some more effective techniques though.

  20. I don't want to start a flame war, but this does seem a bit precious to me. It's not like the charters wrote the songs or played in the recordings, and often they've used tabs created by others. Yes charters put a lot of work into making CDLCs, but I don't think there should be a problem with making available a CDLC made by someone who isn't on this website, unless you're also going to prevent CDLC that wasn't uploaded by the rights-holders of the actual song! The 'original charter' should be given credit out of politeness, but the idea that a CDLC is "owned" by the creator seems at odds with the fact that the "creator" doesn't own most of the content of the CDLC, and it's all provided as a gift to the community for educational purposes. The administrators of the website can obviously dictate whatever rules they wish, as its their website, but this does seem oddly inconsistent to me.

  21. Phew, good job. That was close. We almost got the benefit of playing those songs! Thank god they are now safely removed from the site so no one may ever make use of them again. Hurray!
