After a bit of learn a songery, RR and an adaptation to fingering which I coined "Kitkat" picking (using all four fingers) I didn't do too bad. I have a giant bicep in my right arm now though  :blink:

Hey guys,

 

No submissions from me this week, but for a very good reason.

Myself and a few friends have been trying to organise a jam session evening for the last few weeks, and this week we finally managed to get everyone organised to be in the same place at the same time to play together, so I've spent the week learning some tunes for that.

 

Just got back from it, had a great time, hopefully it'll turn into a semi regular thing !

I was looking at the tabs on UG again, and I think the custom uses version 6 (5 star, most votes). Version 8 seems better in some places, but worse in others. Between the two and my ear I could probably cobble together a better (but still not perfect) version, but obviously too late for this week.

 

Anyway, what things do you notice being wrong? I mentioned a few earlier, but a more complete list after a few more listens is

1) Missing notes in the intro (where the second sustain is in each measure).

2) The 1st and 3rd phrases of the early verses are definitely messed up. The 2nd and 4th have smaller problems but aren't quite right.

3) The 3rd and 4th "repeats" of the transition riff to the faster stuff (starting about 2:52) are wrong.

4) The transition to the solo (under "Dreams") I think I'm hearing some Steve Harris clank keeping up the previous rhythm, though it's somewhat hard to hear for sure under the other stuff going on.

 

There's almost surely more that I missed, but of these the only one that I feel really hurts the custom is what happens in the early verses.

Finally some update, Some nonsense. All days practice with this track, more hundred playthroughs and could not beat my previous score 96.08, which recieved after 2 days practice.  RR for solo turn up useless for me, very fast shifting with a lot notes at way, possible only after month practice only with this solo, for perfect muscle memory.
