Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 84

Damn, what is worst about the championship is that i can't play relaxed, and that causes big misses and ending with my hands shacking. Don't know if i'm the only one feeling like that 

 

I know that feeling.  I can play a song a million times relaxed but whenever I press the record button to make a video I tense up the whole time.

As others have said, I think it has a lot to do with how comfortable you are playing everything in the song, and also something to do with how much pressure you're putting on yourself to do well (though I don't think I've ever come out of attempting to 100% a relatively easy song with a racing pulse).

 

When I'm both seriously challenged and want to do well I usually end up with my pulse racing and... I wouldn't say my hands are shaking, but the tension makes it so that I'm not nearly precise as I usually am. This happened all the time with Addicted to that Rush last week. Even if I got reasonably good at the later tapping sections they were still way too fast and complicated for me to deal with and I'd always tense up and screw up since, although I could practice them calmly in riff repeater, I knew so much of my score was dependent on those sections and put a lot of pressure on myself on them. Even some songs that I'm not trying to score attack or anything can leave me like this if they're tough pretty much from start to finish.

 

As for what you can do about it beyond just getting more skilled, that's something I'll have to think a bit more about. The most obvious thing, as others have mentioned, is to remind yourself that it's not just about the score, but also an opportunity to have fun and listen to and play some great music.

As one of the more competitive people here(trash talking and other "heel" tactics) it does pay off to have that surge when you know you just had a kick-ass run and have the score show it.

While I take things more personal for stupid reasons(beating @@Blazikiller for requesting Fall of Troy, multiple rivalries with various comptetitors, and my hiatus). It is probably the most fun I have. I do try to not cross a line and piss people off for real, but I enjoy playing, being frustrated, and having that desire not only to score better but to be better.

 

To the people not having fun/panicking over a really great run of a song/etc.:

We get a new song every week, and each song has its qualities to make it awesome, imagine how fun it is to show off and say"hey look I can do this." If it isn't your cup aloft tea, find a song that is and request it, so WE can enjoy it as well.

I think the main problem is myself, i know that i play really good, but when a song of the championship is chosen, i just push myself very hard, and my brain is sayng the whole song  "don't fuck it up". And that is were i just get nervious and i start missing notes, and end up with my hand shacking and a little bit frustrated. I don't know, every time i tried to change the way i play for the championship, and i always had in mind that the score is not the first but well...damn brain hahaha :D 

Changing that will take time, but i know i can

Yo thats really weird...just got back from Royal Blood and I also got a drumstick...Maybe all CS players get drumsticks from shows today...oh and btw...MC Bassists...we need to step up our game...He plays all of that on the bass...and yeah...there's only two people in the band.

Took me forever to get a run where I didn't choke up on a phrase or two. Managed to keep the flow smooth this run, even when I did drop notes!

First one is no, I'm just stating what my limits are, and if you pass it, then you passed my limit, congrats.

 

Second one wasnt true at all i guess, I didn't think I'd have much more time this week to get some good runs in

(Had the Royal Blood show, and work the rest of the days), that and I was getting sick of the song. I also never put the solo in RR like I said I was(I did last night)...so I guess I'm playing mind games with myself too...yaaaay

Because Beginner Lead song turned out to be too difficult. And I did not wanted to change whole song.
