  1. After some more time in RR it is starting to get better, the arpeggios still sound forced tho. But the solo is really easy. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k228/maztor42/Rocksmith%20championship%202014/Only%20one%209689_zps5l4pn8xq.jpg

  9. I couldn't play much last night - I've got pain in my index finger again, but this time at the joint. I know why it is, like @@RicYin, when I'm playing notes on the same fret on adjacent strings I tend to span the top of my finger across the frets, not moving my finger much, just rocking to suit the string I'm supposed to be fretting. It's probably not the best of techniques, if it's giving me pain... I did manage a slight improvement on Diamonds SA though - I'll post it up later if I can't improve tonight.

  12. My first entry in the championship. After a couple tries I got a good score on bass for Diamonds in the mine. @@RealityPixels About notes on different strings but the same fret, i try to fret both strings (in this case) without moving my finger too much. I'm useless with a guitar, couldn't get past the first section in Underdog on rhythm. Maybe i just need to change strings.. they're all rusted and haven't been changed in more than a year xD I did manage to get a score in Heathens on lead.

  13. Please discuss Rocksmith Remastered here. FAQ: Q: My CDLC doesn't work! A: For windows: Please use the new .dll | Mac: Please use the Patch. You can get both here For further help regarding customs not playing see : CDLC not working - General Rocksmith - CustomsForge Q: I'm getting 100% on all the CDLC songs I play A: Thanks to @@cozy1 and @@Lovroman you can now update all your collection in the 1.2.6.4 beta version of CFSM that can be found here : http://ignition.customsforge.com/cfsm Q: I'm getting camera issue on some CDLC, why? A: The remaster update slightly changed how the camera is handle in game so CDLC that don't have section have now different camera issue than before that are more problematic now. Note that not having section also means that Riff Repeater (RR) isn't available in game and also means that the play count won't be incremented every time the song is played. If you find such CDLC, alert the author of the problem and report the CDLC to us via the appropriate report button. Q: The play count isn't getting updated when i play CDLC, why? A: The remaster update slightly changed how it counts the number of time someone play a song which seems be related to DD instead of only section as it was before the remaster. So any CDLC without DD won't have is play count properly working. Q: I'm getting crashes when on the Learn A Song page of some CDLC? A: The remaster update changed how bonus and alternate arrangement are visible which also have a side effect of provoking random crashes when looking at songs that have too much (more than 5) arrangement in the Learn A Song area of the game. If you find such CDLC, alert the author of the problem and report the CDLC to us via the appropriate report button. Q: I'm getting an error when launching the Rocksmith Remastered A: Please verify your integrity via Steam. We do not support pirated copies and we will ban you if caught with a copy. Make sure to have Cherub Rock DLC to be able to use CDLC. Q: Is Ubisoft trying to ruin CDLC? A: No. When they updated the game, the executable file changed which is why the dll needs to be updated, it's a side effect of software programming not a voluntary maneuver to break up things. Other issue arise by the discrepancies between how CDLC and ODLC are made, they aren't 100% similar inside and some of those differences can be put to light when the game changes how it react to some information. This is not ubisoft's fault as they never provided CDLC or mod support in the first place and when the main code changes, is it our duty to fix our mods to make the CDLC work again.

  14. http://i.imgur.com/lHWnRU8.jpg That verse tone doesn't even come close to doing that riff justice, but I guess it's a pretty hard pedal to emulate. http://i.imgur.com/PEJrNy0.jpg Was wondering what the hell I was even going to be playing going into this one, it's not like this song is ripe with sick guitar riffs. I thought you'd follow the piano, but it turns out you follow the vocalist.

  24. @@RealityPixels ahh yes I see you mentioned your ring finger getting stiff, aye, same here most of my videos my ring finger is perma straight and I still haven't quite figured out to get rid of its temporary paralysis while playing. If I do find a way to get around that problem I'll let you know but for the now I'm afraid I can offer no cure or preventative measure... I know a few bassists use gloves when playing, I wonder if that'd help? :)

  26. @@RealityPixels you will get there with practice. "Pistol switch" (original track on rocksmith) is a good song to practice for string skipping on the same fret and dexy's midnight runners "come on eileen" too. I also use colour blind mode for the same reason as @@Fraggle Baggle and it does help a fair bit. Have a dabble with some different rhythms too to help with your right hand plucking/plecking patterns. Ska P and Ninos con Bombas have some nice tracks for practice right hand technique. :)

  27. I get the brain farts too! Just curious, do you play with colour blind mode on? I do, because I usually find it impossible to id orange notes unless there's a yellow close by for comparison and even then... It does seem to make it harder for me to deal with greens + blues on the same fret though. Until the day I'm good enough to play by not relying on what I see, my conclusion is contrast matters, the more the better. I might have to try switching cb mode on/off depending on the song. If only there were a way to completely personalise your colour set! ^_^ Brain farts :D Yes, that's a good way to call them. I play with the normal colour scheme, will try the colour blind mode to see if I notice a difference. But, in my case is not about the color.. I don't know how to explain it: I can sight read at a glance changes from the 1th fret to the 16th or bigger and even nail them without looking at the fretboard (unless is a very fast song :D). But when I have to change strings on the same fret, or do constant arpeggios (like Muse's bassline last week) my brain kind of locks and I have to pause the song, riff repeat it slower or, as you say, rely on what I hear instead of what I see... But even then, sometimes i tell my ring finger to move but it don't want to :D I suppose it has to do something with my playing technique: I started playing bass about a year ago, but seriously and with a decent instrument since February. And I'm totally self taught. I know about the one finger per fret technique, but for me is harder to think what fingers goes where while I play. If i don't care about that my fingers just flow with the groove Now that I re read it that last sentence sound kind of arrogant, but you know what I mean :)

  28. Everyone does not learn and progress in the same way so with that said this is what helped me. 1. Finding easier songs in Rocksmith that are in my reach (beginner level) to earn a gold pick. The gold pick on a song in Hard Score Attack is my goal and 100% is my ultimate goal so that gave me motivation. I have to at least like a song to want to play it. If I love a song that's even better. I love Satisfaction so it was fun (not work) to sit down in riff repeater for hours to learn it because I love the song. I started out slow on the solos and slowly played them faster until I got to 100%. Also that song is is at my current skill level. I'd love to play Highway Star but it is out of my reach. My renditions are not great, but I do enjoy playing and over time I've gotten better. So... set a goal that is achievable, then when you reach it set another goal. It sounds dumb but I felt great when I finally got a gold pick on 7-nation army rhythm path. That is a super easy song but it was a milestone for me. I was off to the races after that. See the link in my signature if you want to see videos of easy RS songs. 2. Use video teachers on you tube. There are a lot of good ones. If you need help with finger placement for a solo or something look there. If you need help with a technique look there. I've never used a real live teacher. It may help I've just never done it. I am 100% taught by RS and free youtube lessons. 3. You will play more if you enjoy it. I enjoy learning new songs so once I learn one I will play it again but not probably every day (exception "Satisfaction"). If you hate your time with the guitar you will do other things with your time. If you love your time with the guitar you will find time to play. I don't "practice" per se, I learn new songs and play ones I know. Perhaps I am not advancing as fast as I could with a real "practice schedule" and a teacher led method but I am having fun. If I hated time with guitar I would not get better since I'd avoid it. 4. What is your goal? Mine is to have fun and learn new songs. If you want to play in a band or play professionally you are going to need to map out a plan. Steve Vai did that and practiced 10 hurs a day because he loved to it. He said it was not practice to him because he loved it. I would hate his 10 hour schedule but good for him. He found his love and set his goals and achieved them. Good luck!
