Now, dancing badly to Clutch :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=592145212 Still really bad at those bends at the end there but, what I lack in substance I clearly make up for with style! HAH! pthrrrrbt! :P Oh yes, and I know I'm not in the Clutch bass category but I like the song, A LOT! So n'yer!

  6. How exciting when the slightest amount of progress is made when playing one of your favorite songs from your favorite band. Monday morning after slamming my alarm shut with both fists I will have thoughts of playing this song at night to keep me sane. Strange that without DD my yellow score would go up to 84%..... anyway I know it's not the one that counts. http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20115%20-%20Ending%2009January2015/CF%20-%20Week%20115%20-%20Iron%20Maiden%20-%20Alexander%20The%20Great%20-%20Lead%20-%20Attempt%202_zpsptbmw2a7.png

Never heard of Clutch before, but after playing 1141 (the programmers here will understand :P ), I've now downloaded 8 of their CDLC's......all of them great fun to play. Playing them well is a different story though. Beginners have it tough this week. I'd call Blondie a solid intermediate song. Lots of fast shuffling all over the neck.

  14. Maybe the plays through at 90% are helping more than I thought. Just before I shut down for the evening I had another go at score attack and whilst I still felt way out of my depth and like I was just thrashing around, I was surprised that I managed to get up a bit If I keep running through at 90% speed, maybe I can get up over 80% accuracy. 15. @ - You're absolutely right, there's nothing complicated about the structure of the song. It's just the sheer speed that causes the problem for me. I can play the song reasonably at 85-90%, but that last 10-15% is a huge difference. It's no problem though, I'm still practising it, and learning from it, although at a lower speed level. I'm working to miss the least notes possible at a full play through at 90% in RR :)

  16. Adv update: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=592972185 Messed up royally on the escalator run from the 4th on the G widdley bit and a little later where I accidentally muted a bit too hard and made a sound on the G which pissed me off a bit... I love Bruce's voice in this song, it's a real anthem but the bass line is really quite dull apart from the widdley bit, that if I could pull it off, would be it's redeeming feature in enjoying playing this song... it's a class tune though :) My friend told me earlier I had actually heard Clutch before ( Which I had an incling but wasn't quite sure.. was possibly drunk at the time.) in the local rock club we frequent and that she's been listening to that particular song on loop for the past 6 months, she also mentioned I "danced like a big bell end" then too :) I need new friends :/ I can't seem to get Stay Clean working still but I'm going to attempt the other Lemmy tracks. Now.

  20. @@2groggy, @@NoonyDeloony - Slides after sustains almost always register as "early", because when the game looks for the start of the slide the sustain is (obviously) still going and thus gets detected early. It has very little to do with when you actually start the slide, or whether you start sliding early, or anything like that. On unpitched slides (where the game only seems to track that you're in the right frequency range for any part of the slide) you can keep your fretting hand anchored and it will still say "early". You can probably get perfects if you cut the sustain off and then play a new note where the "hidden" note head is, but obviously that won't sound like what's actually played. As for bends, the main thing is probably to practice with your ear or the chromatic tuner, and make sure you know what it feels and sounds like to bend from a G to an A in that position, and get in in your muscle memory. The other thing is that bend note detection only seems to care about getting the starting and ending pitch somewhere during the sustain. Use that information as you wish.

  27. Thanks for the tips, @ and @@albatross213 ! TuxGuitar is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, now I can fix these crummy tabs a little easier. I hadn't even considered capo would be hiding under Pro Guitar, I figured that was Rock Band stuff. That'll let me start on some easier stuff to make tabs for. I managed to beatmap a 7 minute Machinae Supremacy song that switched BPM for chorus and verse, only to find out that the tab charted triplets as eighths and had a BPM 66% faster than the actual song... argh. :weary: Anyway, songs! http://i.imgur.com/ZAsfbYV.jpg New Iron Maiden song to me. I love sightreading Iron Maiden songs because half the time they play their riff slowly, and then pace up the tempo after you get the hang of it. Very courteous of them to make their material so learnable! It's not my favourite Iron Maiden tune, but it's okay. I mean, it's good, but it's okay in terms of Iron Maiden tunes. :P http://i.imgur.com/BLTnGea.jpg Ahh yes, Blackened. Well familiarised with this one thanks to Rock Band - this was my first blast beat. I mostly drummed this, but occasionally while drunk with friends I'd end up on guitar, and evidently I've still got some of the muscle memory kicking around.

  28. For the people who struggle with the bass bends on Clutch, just to prove that they're possible: And a score. Like I said, trick is mostly to train your muscles and ears to know how far to go. And then when you're playing the song, maybe going a little beyond that, because the game sometimes is a little finicky and going a bit sharp seems to get better recognition (even halsb acknowledges this). Also that the tension on bass strings is pretty damn high, and because of the extra length you need to bend extra distance to get the same proportional lengthening and consequent pitch change. I'm better at "pull" bends than "push" bends so I moved this bend to the A string so you could do that more comfortably (and it would be closer to the middle of the string). A full step bend isn't easy anywhere on a bass, though. Anyway, I'm glad people are liking Clutch. They're a really fun band (and not too difficult to play), and I highly recommend seeing them live if they tour near you (they were in NW Europe a month ago. Not sure when they'll next be out there). Also, Deloon of Noon (@@NoonyDeloony), may I use your playthrough vid on the record page? Haven't updated it for the newer version, so I should be updating it soon anyway.

  30. I just got heavy gauge strings for my bass recently and I've been working out the strings a bit so I could play Drop B CDLC. As soon as I get to the tuner, that's when I have a problem. As soon as the tuner on the B string hits +20, then it goes all the way back to +999 like it wouldn't register any more than that. Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this? Thanks.

  31. @@albatross213, I think i have figured it out manually but have one last question. I fixed the numbers like you said. The song i fixed was just in a folder i keep on my desktop where I dump songs I might want to play but dont want them on the game at this time. After that fix do i just put it in the game as i would normally? I saved it to my desktop, do i use that version or the one in the original folder? I just saw your reply on my version. I will try to get a newer one, i really appreciate your time and knowledge. I enjoy your CDLC's too!

  32. @@avsrick - I'm not entirely sure why it wouldn't be there. It should be right under the "App ID Updater", which is what you're talking about. Is it possible you have a really old version of the toolkit? Anyway, another way of fixing it is to do it manually. Go to the "Creator"Click "Import Package" (at the bottom) then select the DLC you want to make changes to, and select which folder you want the unpacked files to go into (I usually just delete these once I'm done editing).Under the "Arrangements" section there should be a bass arrangement. Click it, then click the "Edit" button. To the right of the "Tuning:" field where it states the tuning there will be a "..." button. Click it, then add 12 to every number in the tuning field (so for drop B tuning -5, -3, -3, -3 will go to 7, 9, 9, 9), then set the "Tuning Pitch" frequency to 220 Hz.The net effect of this is that you'll tune to the same pitch as the original tuning, but the game will think you're playing an octave higher and will actually detect the B. You can also change the scroll speed and stuff while you're there. I like a faster scroll speed than the toolkit default of 2.0, which many people never change when making customs, so I change it on a lot of songs I download.

  33. @@MonstaS4 I don`t know why all think that it very hard. I feel it very similar difficult as was one a song by Metric, all phrases learnable, usually base scales, no any shreds, skip strings and fast chords. My skill is bad, but i got >99% after a few plays, that usually is impossible for int a song.
    1 point
  34. @@tacoman828 - The game isn't set up to detect notes below the low C. Others here have developed a workaround that involves setting the tuning up relative to A220, so the game "thinks" it's an octave higher than it is. If you have a CDLC that doesn't have this feature, you can have the RSToolkit fix it by navigating to the Packer/Unpacker tab, selecting "Fix Low Bass Tuning" (probably better to delete the source files too so you don't get duplicates), then selecting the DLC that don't have it. And let the charter know too by commenting on their custom so every bassist who wants to play it doesn't have to fix the tuning themselves.

If it's just your ISP blocking it, that's not much reason to forbid using a site that works perfectly fine for almost all of this forum's users.
