  2. If I may. The reason people don't hit the thanks button is that, well. It's not an in your face button. People just don't realize you can scroll over the bottom of the posted segment and hit a button. I try to thank all the charters and everyone that gives me help. I feel your pain, they say thanks in the thread but don't actually hit the little button on the chat window. The like button is right there, so that's what they hit. Just saying.

  3. Many thx for all the "In Flames" customs you've already created - I've dl them (I hate retuning, but their tunings was one reason that no customs could be created from these in rs1 - tuning once and play more in a row or use a 2nd guitar could be a solution ;)) Nice workshop. I'm not a friend of requests and pls don't see it as is - only as a suggestions Alias, The Mirrors Truth, Whoracle and their Land Of Confusion Cover Do you have a tab book or did you get them from the known archives?

  5. Today I found a workaround for getting the low bass notes such as low B to work with Rocksmith. I posted a scrappy test song in the database but they already pulled the plug on that, can't say I blame them :). But I got enough data for it to work as a proof of concept, you can see the discussions we had here. Me and a couple of people got a low B note, the thickest string on a 5-string bass to register in Rocksmith. My theory was that the reason Rocksmith hits the wall at C1 is because after that you go into the zeroes, B0 is next. I thought it must be because Rocksmith doesn't like handling those zeroes in there. So could Rocksmith be tricked into thinking it is still in the 1st octave while in reality it's playing the notes that are of the 0th octave? This brings us to the workaround. First off, you fiddle with the tuning in Editor of Fire. There you set the tuning to whatever is your desired tuning +6. (This is now pretty much obsolete, it's better to set it to +12, see the edits) In my test, I wanted the tuning to be in BEAD, the 4 lowest strings on a 5-string bass, so I set the tunings to 1,1,1,1. Because the B-string would be -5 compared to the standard 4-string E-string, I get -5+6=1, and so forth. Then you just chart the song as it is played in the desired tuning. If you have a chart like that already, just change the tuning accordingly and don't transpose the notes. Next, in the Rocksmith toolkit you set the tuning for the arrangement the same as in eof, in this case 1,1,1,1. But here's the trick: you counter the +6 transpose you did in the tuning by setting the middle A as 311.2 Hz in the tuning pitch section. This causes all notes to be 6 semitones lower than normal. Now, in my case the notes displayed for the strings are F1,A#1,D#2,G#2 but because of the different frequency reference the frequencies correspond to the notes B0,E1,A1,D2 in A440, or the pitch reference we normally use. As you can see, we have technically eliminated the 0th octave from the notes. EDIT: I just realized you can probably do this in a more elegant manner. If you set your tuning to desired tuning +12 and offset that by setting the tuning pitch as 220 Hz you'll get the correct letters for the notes, they'll technically be an octave higher and octave lower at the same time if that makes sense :) The reason I went with +6 is because I first tried this pitch offset on the E standard tuning where you start off from 0 and are capped by the 11 semitone limit in EoF, but for B standard -5+12=7 if my math doesn't fail me here :P Important: Make sure you're not using the same tuning in the toolkit for guitar and bass arrengements. We have already seem some snapped strings because the creator edited the "B standard" tuning in the toolkit to be 7,7,7,7 for bass and that also got applied to the guitar parts. You have to have two separate tunings, one normal for guitar and one with this trick for bass, you can look at LittleLui's post further down to see how he did this. In game when you pick the song it shows the wrong note letters for the strings when you are tuning but they will tune to the correct desired note with the in game tuner (the game says the recording is "slightly" flat or sharp, just 6 semitones :P). Now if you've done everything correctly the chart should come out as it should be played in the desired tuning, and better yet, the game actually registers all of the notes. (EDIT: This bit is obsolete with the +-12 method, the notes should be the same. Though it will say it's in A220 tuning instead of A440) I believe this should work the same for even lower tunings, if you wanna have an A string you just set the tuning on that to -1 (edit: 5 with the +-12 method), or a Bb string with the tuning set to 0 (edit: 6 with the +-12 method) for that particular string. Some funny food for thought: the theoretical lowest note you could pull off with this is Gb0 I believe. Now, the maximum tuning you can set in eof is +11, and if you set the tuning pitch as 233.1, or 11 semitones below the standard middle A you could theoretically have rocksmith register a Db0 note, that is just over 17 Hz :P (actually, after what I realized, see the edit, the lowest you can go is theoretically C0 I think) This will need some testing and fiddling around, obviously it's not an intended solution. Then again, the whole concept of cdlc's were not intended by the developer :) EDIT: Here's a video of an actual cdlc by Rockfirstlast made with this trick, seems to be working perfectly. The tuning is C# Drop B Link Update: LittleLui has done a cdlc with BEAD tuning for bass with the +-12 method and it's working. The cldc is No Love Lost by Carcass if you wanna test it for yourself. He also made this comment in another post where he explains the trick in simple steps for already charted songs, might be useful to post it here: where csct stands for the toolkit of course.

  6. Hey Blade! I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for the staff here. We greatly appreciate everything that you and the other charters do. Truth is, without you guys we wouldn't be here at all. Overall providing things like we do, (you and us), is a thankless endeavor. It probably shouldn't be, but it is. I draw my thanks from the number of people who log on everyday knowing we provide them with a service that is uninterrupted and informative. For you, the thanks would be that people want to not only download your work, but they are enjoying it on a daily basis. Thank you for what you do! Spades

  7. For the tab i'll simply search for them (mostly on ultimate guitar) but many solos have been readjusted by ear. I have to admit that it was easy to start without request because i know what i wanted to do but it's more fun to answer request since you know that at least one person will be glad you did it other than yourself. I'm glad you liked what i did and if you have anything to say about the customs please, say it! i'm not able to see or ear everything and i will gladly update customs if i have feedback.

  15. Is the new system I setup good enough? The hard problem with the old system was keeping track of all the donations. I work a lot now and also put tons of time running this site. Additionally when I'm off I'm either working out or doing something important. I would of loved to keep that document updated but it's a pain in the ass to manually update it. I really hope the new system is transparent enough now.

  19. Why do you want to be a moderator? I'd like to have the chance to abuse some powers What do you bring to the Customs Forge community that is unique to you? My creepiness, there is no other like it. Cake or Pie? (this is important) As long as it is chocolate, i don't care. How much time do you spend on the site daily? Probably too much for my own sanity, but ill get back to you on that once i get a stopwatch. In the meantime, a fuckton. Have you filled out your profile information on the site? Ish, but only because i can't be arshed to fill out the rest. Have you ever been a Moderator anywhere else before? Admin on a SWAT-4 server count? If so, yes. Otherwise, no. Can you follow instructions? Fuck no.

  22. I feel like in am the perfect person to address each of these issues. 1) forget anything that makes playing guitar unenjoyable. I started playing songs where it was possible for me to use one finger on my fretting hand and worked on memorizing simple.songs so I could stare at my guitar because my hands didn't know where they were on the guitar neck. Play songs you like, in the simpliest difficulty you can manage, and work your way up until you get to the point where you know what's being displayed is just barely out of your league. At that point, slow the song down in riff repeater and grind at it until you learn that section. ALTERNATIVELY, what I did at first, was to play songs up to getting to that point, then I'd just find another song I really liked and played the easier difficulties until I hit that difficulty threshold again, then j found a new song. I'd work on like 3-4 at a time, play each of them every time I picked up.the guitar, and eventually I got comfortable enough that is want to crank up the difficulty. On easiet songs, sometimes i wouldnt even go into riff repeater, id just play the whole song terribly and have fun working on my coordination. Eventually I got to the point where I couldnt just jump into a song and play it. Thats when you need to use riff reapeater to its fullest potential to undetsta d and practice the song you're working in. Just a disclaimer real fast, I'm still a beginner/intermediate guitar player. The hardest thing I've gotten 90% on is probably plug in baby, we share the same skies, etc., two songs I still struggle on. I've played both of those songs a LOT. But pushing the limits of your ability is when you can actually feel your skill increasing. 2/3) can't speak to this on a personal level, but I have a friend who is in the advanced/expert level of guitar who has small hands and more importantly, has a condition where he cannot twist his wrist, AT ALL. He can still playbarre chords better than iI can. Want more inspiration? Look on YouTube "audrey rocksmith". You'll know exactly what video to watch, she plays base and guitar. While were on the inspiration digression, look up wodashin on the rocksmith forums and look up his thread. I strongly suggest you look up that thread and use the techniques this guy used to learn guitar. In one year or playing, this guy can play hanger 18 and cliffs of dover. One fucking year and he's one of the highest scoring players on the leaderboard. He worked his ass off to get there and he was smart enough to be able to train himself. Audrey has a very good mentor. Speaking of which, get yourself a mentor. Someone that you can ask simple questions and even more importantly, jam with. I always just wanted to learn songs, noyn improvise, but its so important and really just added a new layer to my guitar skill. 5) Losing my religion was the first song I played where I was like "holy shit I'm a guitar player.". I love that song also, its not incredibly hard (but took me a lot of practice, especially the 12-17 double stops stretches that instill have problems with). Up until that song, I avoided all chords other than power chords. After that song, I was comfortable with chords and started learning more. That song was a huge turning point for me, keep at it, one section at a time. Some other songs I put in that relative difficulty range (easier and harder than losing my religion that I like to play) are: me and the bean, step out of the car, slow hands, take me out, no rain, in bloom, plug in baby, go with the flow, all the small things, vasoline, we share the same skies, do you remember, rebel rebel, song 2, don't fear the reaper, self esteem, boys don't cry, smoke on the water, pumped up kicks, high and dry, are you gonna go my way, icky thump. That's very roughly the order of difficulty. Ordered by my mastery, though some of those songs I got to the 90+% range in a few tries, some took 50 tries. Some of them just have very hard solos, generally i leave solos leveled down unless I really like a song. 6) the riff repeater is the main reason rocksmith is as amazing as it is. You need to harness the riff repeater to its greatest extent. You said you were having problems with the strumming pattern. Well if its going too fast for you to figure out, SLOW THAT SHIT DOWN. You'll know the pattern in 10 minutes. There are times that I literally put the speed down as far as it can go, and slowly work the speed up. When you get into the 90+% range, ho 1-2% at a time, especaiily for over 95%. I, by far, spend the most time in riff repeater than any other facet of guitar playing. Additional tips: I don't have a lot of bad habits, but part if playing guitar has been figuring out why I sound like shit. You need to shut the game off, or pause, and play the notes without background music- a lot. Jamming helped me a lot in this regard. I have yet to use session mode much, but it is something I'm going to be using more and more this summer. Try to learn some basic chords. As soon as my finger dexterity was good enough to use 4 fingers reliably, I should have gotten more exposure to chords. Lots of riffs are based on several chords, and if you know them, it makes the song so much easier to play. We share the same skies is a great example of this. If you are trying to play that song one string at a time, its nearly impossible for me, at least. Don't fear the reaper is another good.example. A good wah of learning chords is to play that game castle chorded or whatever. Not only are you given some.extra time to hit those chords, but they slowly give you more than one at a time, and they say exactly what the chord is called. Its seriously a great game. Book complete, the end. 6)

  25. From reading his book and stuff, I don't think he wants to be near axl after everything, if you hate someone so much would join with them just for the fans sake or even if you were desperate for the money? Guess it's just as much about his happiness as well as the fans. I adore slash, have done since I was little, and I stand by anything he does, I wouldn't mind either way if he got back with gnr or stuck solo, it's all awesome stuff in different ways. But I do think axl is a butt hole tbh lol

  26. I'd say you're wrong. It's all about having fun while playing and practicing. If you're not one of the 0.01% who have an absolute iron will, you will need to have fun, or you'll give up sooner than Hellen Keller trying to play Baseball. Also, just forget your goals and enjoy what you're doing, be one with the music you're playing, let it flow through you like the force flows through a jedi (or sith, whatever floats your boat). Make it be fun. Even the tedious bits.
