  1. Hi, folks. I'll be using this thread to maintain the latest versions of EOF in one place. To start, download and extract EOF 1.8RC12: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ih70h6p67iy77ka/eof1.8RC12.zip You can keep that zip file handy to avoid downloading it more than once. When I release a new hotfix, all you have to do is replace the files from the above zip file with the ones from the hotfix. The latest hotfix (9-26-2020) is here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6xzg32k4a9gqwxs/eof_hotfix_%289-26-2020_4%29.zip/file *If you use a non QWERTY US English keyboard layout, and keyboard controls/shortcuts aren't working for you, please make a post describing what keyboard shortcuts aren't working, and what the Info panel says the "CODE" and "ASCII" values are after you use each of the keyboard controls in question. I can make Mac releases and will try to post one with each Windows release, but my ability to do so is sometimes limited. If I don't get around to releasing a Mac build you want, just remind me to do so. The latest Mac build (9-26-2020) is here: http://ignition.customsforge.com/eof/download/487 Unless you have oggenc and LAME installed (these don't come with the Mac build for licensing reasons), you won't be able to have EOF automatically convert from MP3 to OGG when you create a new chart. If you have trouble getting those set up on your system, here is a package that should get them installed and usable by EOF: http://www.t3-i.com/apps/eof/downloads/eof_utilities.pkg Please provide any and all feedback, including bugs and feature requests. If possible, also please review the included documentation (manual, tutorials) and let me know if you find any room for improvement there. Eventually I plan to add a Rocksmith authoring section to the pro guitar tutorial, but the community's knowledge of the Rocksmith songs' makeup changes pretty quickly so it's hard to know when particular features are considered fully known. For any features that ARE fully known (like anchors), please feel free to remind me if they aren't incorporated into EOF yet, in case I missed any information being passed around on this forum or the Google group. Note: If you are reporting a bug, please specify which hotfix (date) you're using. I release hotfixes on a somewhat random schedule, sometimes more than once per day, so the issue being reported may have been fixed in a release you haven't tried yet.

  2. (updated Oct,2. 2019, Rod) In short: how: why: Cause the Championship is Good for You! now start playing! In longer: First the How: 1. Play whichever song is up for the competition in its current week on either score attack hard or Learn A Song. If playing on Learn A Song please ensure that all sections are at max difficulty. The easiest way to do this is to open up Riff Repeater while in the song and select all sections and max them to 100%. 2. Post a screenshot in the thread for the weekly championship that shows your ACCURACY. We do not look at the big yellow number we look for accuracy only. Score Attack is best for showing accuracy as it shows it to the nearest tenth. After post your score(s) you become participant. All very simple. How to take and post a screen shot: For steam users the easiest way to do this is to just press F12 at the screen you want to take the picture of. Steam offers its users 2gb of space to upload your pictures to so you can just take the picture through steam and upload it and and post the link on the forums. For Non Steam users: Press Print screen on the screen you want to take a picture of then open up Paint and paste the picture. You will then have to save this onto your computer (somewhere easy to find) and then upload it to a image hosting site and post the link. There are many of them out there so just run a search on google to find one. Now the why: 1. To have fun: This is the reason why myself and a majority of us play in the competition and it should be one of the main reasons why anyone wants to join. We are very laid back here and view all entrants to the competition as our peers. We want you all to enjoy yourself while playing in the competition. 2. To improve your skills: A little friendly competition is great and we love seeing people in each class try to beat each other as that shows that they are focusing on learning guitar and learning to play songs. However please keep this as clean as possible as we do not want to scare anyone away or cause upset feelings and many times reading a post can have a negative effect on a person if it is not written correctly. Please use smileys and other emoticons to emote what you are trying to say so that people know its friendly banter. 3. To meet and interact with others: Playing in the competition is a great way to meet new people and interact with them. We all started playing guitar because it was something we loved. Interacting with others who feel the same way is a great reason to play in the competition because it will motivate us to keep on. There were many times before i found the competitions that I got bored with the guitar and didn't see a reason to keep playing. Now the competition has helped me to want to keep playing and I love it for that. 4. To play new songs and genres: This competition is great because it offers us a chance to play songs we may have never thought we would play. Many times I found myself playing a song that I would never have listened to before because i just didn't know about it and realized that hey the song is great and I want to hear more of the band. This helps us to expand our interests and our knowledge. Feel free to add your reasons to this post and I will add it to the reasons listed here. I love this competition and want to see as many people getting enjoyment from it as possible. Part of my enjoyment is seeing people get better and better as the weeks progress. Seeing people move up from beginner to intermediate to masterclass is what this championship is all about. Remember we are all human and are not perfect so we don't expect anyone who joins the competition to be perfect we just expect and hope that you all have fun. If anyone has any questions or concerns or if they would like to give any suggestions please feel free to post them or PM me and I will be more than happy to help.

  4. This is where I will post links to my works in progress. Thanks for coming to visit my workshop! -ForgeOn Any recommendations for edits, tones, additions, or corrections is not only welcome but very much appreciated! :) Currently In Production Customs: PC: Hot Chocolate - You Sexy Thing (I Believe In Miracles) - v0.20 More Info: Lead, rhythm, and bass parts are added. The Rhythm part has been checked by me and should be correct. The lead part should be correct as well, if a bit boring; I intend to add an alternative arrangement that combines Lead and Rhythm, once everything else is correct. The bass part is still incorrect. Not Yet Added: Tones, Vocals, Sections/Phrases, Second Rhythm Guitar (The chicka chicka wah guitar, which I do not have a tab for), and an alternate lead arrangement that will be part lead and part rythm (because it's more fun that way!) Tabs Used: Ultimate-Guitar.com , Songsterr.com PC: Daft Punk - Get Lucky (Michael Jackson Edit) - v0.26 More Info: Two guitar parts and two bass parts added. Default bass is 4 string, bonus arrangement is 5 string. Default Rhythm guitar has a much more complete arrangement than I can do by ear; it may not be completely accurate but it should be in tune and on rhythm! The Bonus Arrangement for rhythm guitar only has chord changes (so you can improvise the struming) and should have correct pitch and accurate timing. All parts may have some sections and phrases (possibly inaccurate). Vocals have also been added! They are accurate though I may need to remoce some "+" and "~" signs. Not Yet Added: Tones, Lead guitar (may have to do this by ear), Final Sections/Phrases Tabs Used: Ultimate-Guitar.com , Songsterr.com - transposed up a tone (whole step) Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkCn-iWLiSE EoF Files: Hot Chocolate - You Sexy Thing (I Believe In Miracles) Daft Punk - Get Lucky (Michael Jackson Edit) Finished There's nothing here. (Yet! :) ) Abandoned There's nothing here. (Hopefully we keep it that way!) Wish List Mumford And Sons - I Will Wait Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark

  5. A few years back I picked up a guitar magazine with an article by Steve Vai called "Freak Show Excess." It has several pages of intense excersizes covering all manner of guitar playing as well as training tips and insight from Vai himself. They cover a program that Vai believed would help make someone a much better player with practice of his key concepts. It might make an excellent base for a set of guitar training excersizes. I lack the skill and fluidity to play them myself, but if anyone would like them to start a project of their own, I can provide you with them. -k

  6. No problem. If I got time to test it ;)

  7. No probs. You may also find the video below very useful. It gives you a very good way of building a scale map, and obviously the Hopscotch Method can be used for any scale. I've started a thread in the Learning Guitar And Bass sub-forum for useful YouTube videos regarding soloing tips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_qw03-3gFg#t=0

  8. "Last of us" was a memorable gaming journey "Mass Effect 2" was great never got into 3 so it remains unfinished. "Bioshock infinite" great but wish I had time to go back through it. Finished "Borderlands" in 2 player co-op with the Mrs "Borderlands 2" is proving very taxing so not sure if it will be finished. Lovely game though. Rocksmith is the time stealer at the moment :)

  9. We could definitely use some more reggae in RS. It seems that it's still a very highly under appreciated genre, because it seems so easy on the outside but is a lot more complex than the average listener may think. It would definitely help beginners to develop a better understanding of rhythmic guitar playing and may teach them some useful techniques for playing sweet little licks in between main phrases as well. And the bass players get served as well with some nice offbeat and sometimes also quite challenging rhythmic lines.

  10. No, we're just discussing. I'm just stating some of the downsides of doing manual edits in EoF. It is a total dealbreaker for me, maybe not for you, but everyone should be aware of it and do the educated choice before he invests a lot of time into creating DLC.

  11. Dude anyone who says America isn't a beer nation is drinking in the wrong places. There are so many microbrews that are awesome and generally available . If you think American beer is just "OK" at this point you either are drinking the mass market crap from the big 5 or so (you think Sam Adams is drinkable? That's just America's warm up act at this point.) or haven't been to America since the 90s when the situation WAS very sad. This beer snobbery from Europe has got to stop. I've drank beer from Poland and Germany. It's OK. It's better than the Korean beer. But when I'm back in the US you come see me, we'll go to Colorado and I'll show you what Europe is missing. Btw of the top 10 beers on Beer Advocate only 1 is from Europe at all. And it's number 8 on the list Trappist Westvleteren 12 from Brouwerij Westvleteren in Belgium. The other 9 are from the US.

  12. Those of you that are using the Pentatonic Minor scale in Session Mode for solos may want to combine both the Minor and Major Pentatonic scales for each position instead. Gives you loads more options and is pretty easy to remember the scale shapes. Here's a YouTube video explaining things: I've made these scales shapes for all 5 positions, there's probably a proper name for it but unless someone can let everyone know what it's proper name is I'm calling it the Pentatonic Minjor Scale lol http://s30.postimg.org/7fyrfgmyp/Pentatonic_Minjor_Scale.jpg

  13. This worked for me in the past, and has become what I also advise people to do. If you find that you still have some ambient noise, then mute the strings a little less when you recalibrate

  17. Yep, I'm going in chronological order. I've got The Battle of Evermore all set, including the mandolin (arranged for guitar) part. Will post that in a bit.If I didn't go in chronological order, I might not have the discipline to actually get to everything.Houses of the Holy is my favorite too, and The Ocean is right up there. That one is going to be fun!

  18. You have to understand that the people making these customs are making the songs that THEY like and want to learn to play and then sharing those with us. No one is going to go out of there way to look for tabs on music they don't really care about. I am sure if you or anyone looks for the particular tab and a link to a video and or song file for the song they are requesting and post a thread in the appropriate place someone may be willing to do it. This is what happened in smithy but the requests got insane. My suggestion is to find the tab and music file and become friends with a custom maker or learn the tools and make them yourselves.
