This weeks was a bit last minute since i wasnt planning to do a week so i was only able to test like 14 songs?  but hopefully itll be decent enough  week /m/

from the begginner songs i tested - they had either more intermediate chords (imo) , lots of string skipping...or i thought that the cdlc could benefit from a revisit  before it gets placed in the championship...

Chevelle song. -> it is one of my suggestions (sorry for biasm) initially i had placed it in intermediate 4 but compared to the other songs that were suggested in the same category it was easier since its mainly the first 2 strings... and it is one of the easier songs in chevelles catalogue.

I personally find all of the ones done by palm to be done really well (hence why i suggested it)... there are a ton of good chevelle songs to play like the clincher, send the pain below, well enought, i get it, ouija, clones and i can keep going on and on.... however they are mostly intermediate songs and i wanted to add other peoples reccomendations since thats mainly what the championship is about. I know most of the times we try to avoid lower tunning songs for begginer so I added the one bellow to be the main bass path.

Haddaway- Classic song, good tab. i wanted to add an e standard song for begginer bass and this one would  also fit the gap in the intermediate song . its Fcable. 

Royal blood- > The band actually only uses a bassist so the lead path is the same as the bass path making it easier than most intermediate songs ( was considering rating it a 3/ 3.5 tbh). There are some techniques used like bends, pinch harmonics (the ones in here remind me of the swearing censor of metalocalypse) , string skipping, and i think there was slides? anyways all of those reasons is why i would consider it an intermediate song though theres not that many notes/ short song/ pretty easy to get a high score. Also since its c standard theres not that big of a gap tunning wise to the chevelle song which is why i paired them up this week.


Ride like the Wind- good tab and challenging song. I made the rhythm advanced cause i tried it a couple of times and i think only got 95% ... so  i think its a valid low advanced song but i can understand how it can be a high intermediate song since the chords are basic and it is repetetive... altho the pinky can be trickyif you arent used to it...but yea maybe 5.5 instead

Rasputin- this one ill be honest im a bit iffy on the quality...i tried like 6  8s and i found issues in alot of them xD .. also didnt help that lots of 8s had intermediate paths or advanced paths... but i think its alright theres nothing too jarring in it.

jiro inagki- its a good instrumental tab/ path for bass 



I apologize about winners this week I still havent had any luck trying to do the weeks the "right way" hopefully sometime eventually ill get it. i did this all manually so if someone could help me out that'd be great. Havent slept yet...well...i did by accident for a bit and thats why i posted it later than an hour like i mentioned but yea im not running at full capacity atm.

@ cacahuate51  Lol where did you get that Christopher Cross song, I don't think this was on the song suggestion list? I remember adding this to the suggestions list a long time ago but I think removed it later because the chart was very repetitive except for the solo. But ok, I remember this was a good quality CDLC and a cool song so let's play!

I'm looking through my downloaded cdlc with an eye to suggesting songs for the championship.   I came across one of my all-time  favorite  bass songs - Sweet Home Chicago, by the Blues Brothers.  This is no longer available on CustomsForge, but I shared my copy on Dropbox below for anyone who's interested.  It's got lead and rhythm guitar as well, but it's the bass (played by Donald "Duck" Dunn) that makes this one special.  General questions:  what is the etiquette for reposting someone else's CDLC on CustomsForge when the original posting is no longer there?

I think there is no problem. I myself once added 2 or 3 CDLCs that were not mine, which I then wanted to use for the championship. Sometimes when downloading some CDLCs I saw a comment from the person uploading file that he was not the author of CDLC.

If i rememeber correctly the customsforge song manager ( a dowloadable program in the tool menu of the website) can tell you who made the cdlc ( assuming they put it in the metadata when creating the cdlc) if so you could check to see if the user is still active, if they are you could ask them about it. Alot of cdlcs were removed due to google drive links being automatically set to private. however there could be other reasons of why it got removed, they got asked to remove it/ the quality/ they arent a user anymore etc.

but yea like mikson said you should be fine if you repost..just try to give credit to them if possible..

and thanks for sharing ill test it out later once i wake up!

Note to Admins: I did put Green Day - The Simpsons Theme, on the spreadsheet as a beginner song. It's just power chords and nothing complex unsure of difficulty but it's pretty beginner friendly I think, I'd rather you be the judge.

The bass is full-time- chicken-head-bop, neck never gets a break like it does when you play the guitar chart...

I run 9's on all my guitars except my Parker Nitefly that I keep in Eb on 10's.  I have to play these low tunings with such a light touch to not push the notes out of tune.  Fun songs nonetheless, especially the Royal Blood tune.

The SNL skit immediately comes to mind for this one, actually fun to play, easy to get into the groove of each part.  

This one, you're cruising along, got the patterns down and then wham crazy lead guitar part. going to have some extra time in RR this week.

Oh ok, I see it now thanks!  I hadnt seen it since apparently the one submited had no ratings/ its just xs
make sure to give a rough estimate in the futre when submitting cdlcs just so it doesnt get lost in the spreadsheet.

Maybe there might be an error submiting that causes xs? havent submitted in a while so ill have to test myself

@ Rodman  hey i was wondering if it  would be possible to turn back the feature to sort by the columns? i remember this used to be possible but now its not (or maybe it is and i just still dont have permision in my account). Also i used to be able to ctrl f to find songs but it doesnt let me do that either. 

I think a sort by date added would be nice aswell to know if its a recent suggestion or not.. that way we can also determine if they wanted to do a capo week song or if the song was selected not too long ago. not sure if its saved by default everytime something is added or if it would be another column you would have to add on the sheet and in the quick submit thing....

I think the last played songs should probably be removed from the list aswell to avoid reselecting recent capo songs...or have a column that we tick if they have been played or something...when i was making the spotify list weeks ago i personally went through alot of them and put last played on them but not sure if thats a viable solution.


I kinda like the tested tab ( although apparently abandoned) cause its the only page right now that i can actually write on..the rest im guessing require permissions which i guess makes sense...but i guess it could be what @ aNDESmASAMUNE  was suggesting about talking about ratings per song before getting selected. Atleast thats what i understood is what he meant by rating songs.

Filters recreated. Sorting is possible again.

: When adding songs via the app Add Song Suggestion the system checks is the song is played (via checking the database, not the songname - and you get a comment like .

When the song is selected the propper way you also will get that warning in transfer and "New Week" sheet.

The played songs are all put in the "Songs Played" sheet automatically when selection is done via song transfer.

For song testing we got the tested columns plus the comments field which should really be writeable for you and anyone.

This option doesn't work for me because I don't have permissions, I've already mentioned that. I used it once and it worked fine, but then after some update I lost my permissions, I don't know why

I know and that´s absolutely unsatisfying cause the system is great and saves so much time at all positions.
I´m working on @ cacahuate51 s pemissions, did today - when he replies and we got that fixed - it´s yours i am checking again (i did so many times and your email is there)... i´ll find that bugger. We´ll do it!

Chevelle is (4) not only for the tuning (you could render a quick DropD version in CFSM here to make it easier for beginners, but also for me:

 

those quick bends are above beginner level and fit (4)

the melody part thats needing the pinky is more (4) than (3)

and octaves are intermediate (4)

 

of course nothimg wrong having the song played in Beg!

These tunings are a bit too much for my bass (kind of Breaking Benjamin). Guess I could try to get a 5 string bass after I move and also play some songs that I could not play before
