  1. With that section of Stare At the Sun, I'd agree that the way it's charted is roughly the best way to play it (I might disagree about some of the fingerings, but that's another thing). If the 11-16 stretch is a bit much I'd probably either try moving it to the E string (16-21, or if you don't have a 21st fret barring the 16th and playing the high note there). It's a fairly tricky riff, but it's mostly in the handshaping (which most bassists aren't especially used to) since the plucking pattern is fairly simple and familiar (root-fifth-octave then mostly raking). Anyway, here's my best go at it, after a bit of practice on that riff: http://i.imgur.com/mz9EGA0.jpg

  2. http://i66.tinypic.com/2ut2u0l.png cant finish MC without failing atm http://i67.tinypic.com/j7dtfk.png i know I missed last week but did my scores get missed the week before for Gary Moore, cos I was sure I practiced advanced until I had the highest %, but didn't win? I started out thinking I wouldn't take this too seriously, but now I really want this 1st place!

  4. I've only just started on Dani California on bass for the week. My measly 95% doesn't hold a candle to some of the better scores already posted. I'll keep working on it.

  5. So I haven't played my custom since the mid-November release, since as any charter probably does, after releasing, could barely tolerate hearing the song for a long while, I am now playing completely cold. I like to start my CS weeks with unpracticed runs submitted to track the benefit of practicing. Quite unimpressve but still enough to be having fun. Lead - Attempt 1 http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20174%20-%20Ending%2025Feb2017/CF%20-%20Week%20174%20-%20Blaze%20Bayley%20-%20Stare%20at%20the%20Sun%20-%20Lead%20-%20Attempt%201_zpsbzhxbksv.png Rhythm- Attempt 1 http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20174%20-%20Ending%2025Feb2017/CF%20-%20Week%20174%20-%20Blaze%20Bayley%20-%20Stare%20at%20the%20Sun%20-%20Rhythm%20-%20Attempt%201_zps4dou6fce.png Bass - Attempt 1 http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20174%20-%20Ending%2025Feb2017/CF%20-%20Week%20174%20-%20Blaze%20Bayley%20-%20Stare%20at%20the%20Sun%20-%20Bass%20-%20Attempt%201_zpswxynlwtb.png

  6. Nice score missis sumner. Yeah, I was waiting for that comment for the bass arrangement of the Blaze - Stare at the Sun custom. Was just looking forward to seeing who it was going to be. :) PC Plum made the same comment to me during testing. It is the most "controversial" decision I took in that custom. This song is quite challenging on all arrangements so I sought ways to make it easier to play with the help of some guidance. So the lead arrangement has some "evolving handshapes" that took many hours to get right and the bass arrangement has that passage that I think is best simplified/organized by making the handshape you are mentioning as 6 frets wide at the 11th fret. By doing the 6-fret-wide fret-hand position up the neck where the frets are closer together, the whole riff then is then more neatly presented, in my opinion, to be more easily sight-read and played with a more fixed handshape. This is an animated gif of the passage in particular: http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/Berneer%20CDLC/Blaze-StareAtTheSun-feedback/Blaze-SatS-6fretWidth_270pdrop2of3%20frames_zpspeoxbmaf.gif As I don't have a bass (yet) I actually drove to a guitar store to make sure and took a picture of my fret hand to see if my preferred authoring was actually feasible on the larger-scale-than-a-guitar bass and the picture below shows the result. I deem it playable, though admittedly a bit of a stretch. However since the most of the riff is spread over 5 frets and then a fraction of a second adds the pinky for a 6 fret wide fret hand, I felt it was the best way to go and not too difficult to achieve. If someone has a much smaller hand than mine and can't manage the 6-fret stretch, then of course this is just my recommended way to play and it is better to ignore the guidance and to play the way that suits the player. In that case, at least the flurry of notes is more digestible to the eye, being organized in a handshape. http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/Berneer%20CDLC/Blaze-StareAtTheSun-feedback/GetFileAttachment_zpsmk8u9iad.jpg Thanks for the feedback and I am glad you seem to be enjoying the custom!

  8. @shaggy_malagy Looks like you edited your post on week 172 with the updated score, that is a bad idea since there is a big chance that the organizers miss that. Its better to just make a new post.

  10. Hi guys, Do you know BandHub.com ? I recorded a song with this platform, see result: This is the project in bandhub: https://bandhub.com/s/5872ce97da5f8ce73f718ca5 I liked it.

  11. You need to download EOF 1.8RC12 (the complete program) and extract it to your computer. Then you can replace its eof.exe with the one from the latest hotfix and it should work. @@albatross213, EOF is supposed to be checking that, but it doesn't look like it is. I'll fix it.

  12. @@Berneer, I think the way you've done it is the sensible way. I've only got small hands and the way I'm playing it, I don't have to stretch or move my thumb. I've yet to try it at full speed, now that I know what I'm supposed to be playing, but I was up 80% speed this morning, without really trying. :) Thank you for your effort!

  13. You can try to move A11 to E16. That should be right, but would make you play with pinky on low E, and I usually don't like that.

  14. @@Berneer - When that section first came up, I thought it was chords, then thought it was indicating sustains, then kind of realised it might have been a fret hand position. Could you play that same part on the 8th to 11th fret of the A and D string though? Forget that. I don't know what I'm talking about, do I? I think I'm subtracting instead of adding - this is what happens when I try to transpose notes away from my bass. I do like the song, so will give it another go tonight. :) Edit: I tried it over breakfast (without my amp plugged in ;) ) and it's not too difficult to play. I'm not holding that hand position throughout though. My index finger sits over the eleventh fret and thumb is in the same position as yours. I leave my thumb where it is for the whole section but swivel to place my second finger on the thirteenth fret, then my little finger on the fifteenth and sixteenth.

  15. Wow, thanks Mortalo and everybody for choosing my labour of love custom for this weeks' championship. I worked so hard on this one and I hope you guys enjoy it. It's tough but really rewarding in my opinion. What a great surprise on my birthday. I got AirPods today as a gift but by far the greatest gift was to notice this addition to the CS, perhaps partly due to this epic song completely going under the radar, both for the artist himself and as a CDLC with only 175 downloads. :) Yes, by all means as stated in the 2nd post of my custom my intention is to make a compilation of playthroughs video that I will send to Blaze himself. I have his personal e-mail, since he answered my request for tabs to his masterpiece song. So cool of him. I have been looking forward to playing again and posting some scores here but I have spent much time in 2016 either creating this song or working on developing, testing the newer EoF chordify feature and now about to resume writIng the tutorial, a sort of sequel to the Tech Notes tutorial, and spending the last month carefully and partly manually remastering my 3000 CDLC collection and manually fixing CFSM-labelled "corrupt" customs. With limited time of 1 or 2 hours a day it has meant completely stopping to play Rocksmith in 2016 but I will be back competing soon. For now what a pleasure to put everything on hold and showing you that I can barely play my creation...LOL \m/

  16. @@BenSalem What you say is really looking you are trying to pirate ODLC from RS1 (that can be played on RS2014 if you own them on steam) so i can't help you and if my suspicion are confirmed you will get ban and have no access to all the CDLC that are available here. I would seriously think twice about what you are saying now and i strongly suggest you to read the rule carefully.

  17. Ok i have been working on making a bat file to load seperate folders into the game & managed to work it out, so what this bat file does is load a menu before the game starts, with song catergories, then you just type a number on the keyboard corrosponding to the song catergory in the list, then press enter, this will load the game with the song catergory that you chose. what it does in the background is move folders from the dlc folder to the rocksmith temp folder except for the song folder that you chose in the menu, therefore rocksmith only loads that folder ;-)

  18. Check out the latest version of Custom Game Toolkit (CGT). Just added a new feature called CDLC organizer. It takes your CDLC collection and sorts the CDLC into ArtistName folders and automatically renames the CDLC in ArtistName_TitleName_v# format. This new feature can be found in the FileManager tab.
