  1. Wow Shiroo, you make some killer customs. That one is imo, technically way beyond most of the popular rock music, and should be in a 4th and new category in the Custom's Forge Rocksmith Championship. I humbly submit for people who play as well or better than SirBlambleofGam, their category should be "you damn straight I got skills, Son. "

  4. Noticed that my g string was sounding off even when in tune. So i played trough unforgiven in scoreattack and took a closer look at my misses. And there where a bunch of misses on the lower frets of the G string even when i played it right. So i raised my string action a little on the lower strings. Played it onces more and got more than 5% raise in accuracy and almost 3x the score . Lesson in that is "LISTEN TO YOUR DAMN INSTRUMENT AND NOT THE COMPUTER" Hopefully i will remember that. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k228/maztor42/Rocksmith%20championship%202014/TheUnforgiven9069_zps6b9fdc20.jpg

  5. Oh no! Not half a page... Don't worry, I'm done with this thread. Your idea is dead in the water anyway. It's pretty obvious you've never developed software, and never worked with crowd-sourced funding. You want something done, but you aren't willing to pay the money or take the risk yourself. You want to leverage the community to do it for you. So lead by example, and put up $200 (or whatever the dev wants) yourself to get the Tab Explorer project finished, and you'll see how complicated it will get. See if you get your money's worth. And after you've paid $200 for it, and everyone else gets it for free, see how you feel about that. As I said earlier, and firekorn echoed, raising money beforehand is a terrible idea. There's a reason why crowd-source funding based software projects fail 90% of the time. There's also a reason why only 5 people have bothered to chime in on this thread. There is no interest. There are 36,000+ members of this site, and only an average of 250 per day are actually active at one time. That's less than 1%. And of that 0.69%, most of those users are charters uploading stuff or users downloading stuff. Very few of us actually take the time to post in threads and try and help people out. My point? That customs are what bring users here, and the already existing tools are more than sufficient for their needs. Most of them never even use the Toolkit or EoF. And what Zans and I are talking about is incredibly relevant. You're not a Mac user, so it doesn't concern you, and you therefore don't care. But it concerns us, because it sums up my exact issues with your ideas. There will never be decent Mac support. Zans issue has to deal with that exact problem. Ask another professional developer and they'll tell you the same thing I am. It's smarter to build the app and sell it for cheap afterwards. I'd rather sell a $2 app to 1000 people than do the same job for peanuts, which is what fundraising will get you. But I get it, you don't want to hear from anybody who disagrees with you. (Oh, and you can't "provide print capability of tabs within PSARC files". You can't provide print capability within ANY file. Printing is software based, not file based.)

  7. So as the topic suggests this thread will be about how to get the best out of your guitar playing experience while using Rocksmith 2014. Rocksmith has a number of tunings that are available for many songs especially with all the customs out there. However unless you have the appropriate strings on your guitar you may experience a lot of note recognition problems. I was going to write a long out post but instead I found mostly what I was looking for with a google search. This Link in detail (and much better than I would be able to) how to take care of your strings and how to choose which strings are best for you. For Rocksmith if you tend to play songs in low tunings you will most likely be forced to change your strings to a heavier gauge string because of the recognition issues. Tunings like Drop D and C Standard or D Standard will cause you many recognition problems if you are using standard .09 - .46 gauge strings. For these tunings it is recommended that you use either .10(.11) - .52(.56) or heavier gauge strings. The following links which were provided by @ are great videos with explanations on how to setup a guitar. Everyone should watch them and read the article I linked as it has some great information available. 8. Hi guys, I think it's about time that I open up another big project because… well just because I can. B) I really got into Blues lately, more so than usual, and I thought to myself: well, where's all the good stuff? There really should be more great Blues and Blues Rock in RS. So I went online looking for tabs and songbooks of artists that would fit the bill. Along the way I discovered some great new musicians and bands that I didn't even knew before, so that's certainly a plus but I also found a lot of great tabs that I can use to get some of the most epic Blues and Blues Rock songs into the game. As usual the bass is either missing or wrong but that's something I can easily fix, thankfully, but the guitar, at least in most of the song books, is tabbed very accurately and something I can rely on heavily, which I do in fact, because I am happy if I can play at least a third of those crazy licks and riffs. Well, anyway. Below there's list with all the artists and the respective tracks I want to bring into RS but of course this is not final in any way. I may change my mind anytime of the day and if any of you are interested in doing one or the other, I'll be happy to give you all the materials I have and may support you with the bass tab. Also, if there's anything really good missing that you would like to see, then let me know. I'd love to find even more great artists and tracks to satisfy my bluesy longings. P.S.: I won't do the big three: Clapton, Hendrix and Vaughan because there's already quite a few of their tracks available and I actually prefer to bring lesser known or already forgotten blues masters into the game. OK, so after watching the video tutorial on making CLDC's made by @@SkepticSquid here: http://customsforge.com/topic/841-how-to-make-cdlc-full-in-depth-tut-completed/ some of us still have difficulties so I thought that a non-video tutorial with screenshots and text instead might also be helpful, let's start: I've divided everything into 6 sections, some of them are currently in progress, but in the end you will be able to make your own customs for Rocksmith 2014. 14. The problem with sanding is you can't just sand a little bit -- you'll end up having to treat the whole area. But you'll want to invest in a set of polishing pads too -- StewMac sells them, they go up to 12000 grit, which will give the mirror shine to match the rest. http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Sanding_and_Polishing/Sandpaper_and_Finishing_Papers/Micro-Mesh_Soft_Touch_Finishing_Pads.html These things are great. 21. Of course beginners won't be able to play Iron Maiden or Dragonforce. That's why they don't. They play and practice songs that are at their skill level. they master those, then they move on to more difficult songs. My own opinion: I hate DD. Even though I have level-up turned off, I have to do that every time a song starts or it will level me down if i make mistakes. So annoying. Having said that, I only use RS2014 to learn the rhythm parts of the songs. If I want to learn a solo, I can do that 100x faster just using tabs. Why? Cause I can pause on every note, I can think of how I will place my fingers. I can repeat a series of how-many-notes-I-want at a speed that I decide, without having to enter some menu. So for me, tabs > RS for learning solos. For rhythms, Rocksmith 2014 is better, imo.

  26. today died Tommy Ramone, the last alive member of the mytic band The ramones. Maybe we should tribute him and his band playing some songs of them. It's a suggestion. If it's too late for this week (the songs are already choosen ) we could do it for the next. Greetings.

  27. Basically, with custom DLC, 5-6 string bass guitars work fine. They just require some weird workaround settings: First, Ubisoft originally said that their note detection system didn't work very well for very low notes. If you mess around with a 5-string bass (or a normal 4 just tuned very low), you'll notice that the in-game tuner(s) don't register a low B correctly. Tune a 5-string guitar into standard BEADG outside of the game, then plug it into the game, and play an open B. The tuner will bounce around like it knows that it is hearing *something*, but it refuses to register as a B0 as it should. This is because Ubisoft programmed in a hard cap exactly at B0 -- anything at or lower than that won't register. That sounds like a game-breaker for a 5-string, or a 4 in BEAD, or anything with a string tuned to B or lower. And it was for quite a while, until somebody (whoever it was deserves a BIG pat on the back!) figured out that you can work around that hard cap by (ab)using the setting that allows for songs in a tuning off of standard A440. Ubisoft didn't sanity-check the input there, so it is possible to tell the game that the song is "slightly" flat of A440, at A220. That results in the game being "slightly" flat to the tune of an entire octave. Then, a custom is set up with the tuning an octave off. The two octave shifts cancel each other out, and result in the game thinking that the B0 in your 5-string is actually a B1, which is above the hard cap in the game so it registers fine. Quite a few customs now make use of this workaround, and in my experience the note detection on the B string is just fine... Dunno why Ubisoft decided to set the hard cap there that necessitated the weird workaround, but it doesn't really matter because it works OK. BUT, the problem of a bass arrangement only allowing for 4 strings is still an issue. If a song only makes use of the BEAD strings on a 5, it can be kept in the bass path and you just ignore the unused G string. If you want a custom that uses all 5 strings (or 6 on a BEADGC / other tuned 6-string bass) the only way to do it is to use the tuning workaround AND put it into a lead or rhythm guitar arrangement, tuned correctly with the octave shift weirdness of the workaround. Then to play that, you have to switch paths to lead or rhythm to access it in-game. So, with those workarounds, you can get songs for a 5 or 6 string bass to work in RS2014. Kind of clunky and weird to both set up and access, but it does work. Another downside is getting used to the string color-coding (red = E, yellow = A, blue = D, orange = G), and then having that switch around for customs that are set up for a 5-string (red = B, yellow = E, etc.). I hope that Ubisoft adds proper support for 5 and 6 string basses (and 7-string guitars) in the next version (or a patch for RS2014, but I think that it quite unlikely), with a different color for B strings in those setups. Maybe a dark blue or something. Songs for a 4 could still just show 4 strings with the same colors, but if a song is flagged as requiring a 5-string, go ahead and display the 5th. OR, allow the player to tick a checkbox saying that they are using a 5-string bass (or 6, or 7 guitar), and the extra strings would show up all the time when playing whether any notes occur on them or not. I'm sure that if/when Ubi adds official support for these instruments, the interface will be polished appropriately to accommodate them. But for now, at least we can get them to function using the workarounds.
