  1. It was Jules by Seth Chapla. Someone did an amazing custom but it's not allowed to be released on Customs Forge. You can see the vid here and if you read the comments on Youtube carefully...
  2. Yeah I had actually downloaded a custom and the mediafire ad page had popped up. It must have been that causing the redirections. Sorry for any confusion. CF rocks! :D
  3. There was an ad page that I didn't notice pop up in the background when I reported this... Thanks for the advice, pc will be blitzed before AW on Tues :)
  4. As of today (1st Nov 2014) I get constantly sent to update my flash video player and Java software, even though I don;t have Java installed. Also, when I leave the site I get directed to a seemingly official Firefox page which is not in fact official. Is this deliberate, is it a deal CF struck up to generate revenue, or has the place been hacked? Seems quite sophisticated, the pages look very genuine but the legal text is wrong. Yes, it may well be my machine but it only started today (did not happen least night) and it only happens on CF. My PC is getting reset for AW anyway, if you think it's me then I will blitz my pc sooner...
  5. I'm not sure if it makes a difference what drop down name you call it... Are you sure you do not have 2 tones with the same name saved in your game (sometimes when making a tone it can be confusing coming up with new names all the time until you find one you like). There is also a finite amount of spaces (slots) available, maybe you hit your max and what is being imported to the toolkit is an older version of your tone. Delete some unused tones to make room for new ones. When you play the song, you have your desired tones in 1, 2, 3, 4? When you engage the tone while playing along to the song it sounds ok? There is also a volume difference, maybe if the tone in you .psarc is far too loud it just sounds like distortion? Just some ideas man, good luck :)
  6. I use a Mexican Fender Jazz Bass and I get that message constantly. I've made +150 cdlc and put in about 100 hours on bass, don't worry about it man :D As long as you calibrate you should hear it fine. I calibrate every time I change between guitar and bass. A few times I've had that message on my Fender Strat (guitar) too. As far as not recognising the bottom E on the bass, I get that too. I find that striking the sting close to the bridge helps (especially when tuning). I think that it's just the "flabbiness" of the bottom E on bass, and RS has a hard time recognising the "strike point" in the audio graph of fresh hits. When I play songs with repeated bottom Es on the bass I try to dampen the string between hits so that RS "sees" a clear re-hit on the string. And I, personally, leave it on auto cable volume. I've tried manually setting it, but I find that (for me) the best note recognition is on the auto setting.
  7. Sounds like feedback tbh, you sure you got the cables plugged into the correct slots? If you have then it sounds like a faulty unit, I'd look into sending ti back.
  8. May have been reported already but there is an import bug which causes extra notes to be imported. It's like it imports extra "bass" notes, where there should be a single gem there is a "chord" of 2 notes, much of the time the "bass" notes is some stupid fret number like 38. It's happened to me a few times recently, but this file definitely does it https://www.sendspace.com/file/4fnqdd At bar 25 you will see what I mean. I went through previous EoFs and it's actually the change from 1341 to 1349 i.e. 1341 imports that file correctly and from 1349 it imports incorrectly. I don;t know if there were any releases between them, that's the only ones I have. Thanks :D
  9. That's an interesting read, I always had my own theories about pitch differencies but obviously I missed a few reasons. For the record I too hate re-tuning my guitar. It's a Strat with a spring bridge so the strings need to settle. Even small pitch changes take 2 or 3 fine tunes to get it settled correctly. And when you are searching for the correct pitch in a song (like the U2 song I did last night) it can be very frustrating - it took me longer to find the correct pitch for the song than make the flippin custom :( I should really start pitch correcting the audio before I start but then it's not "authentic"... or do live versions of songs, they are normally bang on pitch. I always figured that out of pitch songs were because someone sat twisting the pitch control on the tape machine, either for technical or artistic reasons. Technical reasons - back in the day vinyl real estate was valuable, a lot of though went into the running order of albums to maximise the real estate on the expensive vinyl, and to make both sides (almost) the same length. If it so happened that a particular song could do with being 10 seconds faster, then twist that pitch button! Also, singles had to be a particular length for play on the radio. If a 2.50 song HAD to be 3 mins to be played on the radio, then slow that sucker down. Artistic reasons - producer/band/engineers sitting with a stogie hangin out thier mouth "hey man, that sounds better slower - chill it out man...". Or same said people on rocket fuel, man speed that thing up it sounds ace faster (Eagles anyone?). A lot of thought went into bpms too, so if the band were slow/fast then it would get sped up/slowed down. The entire Eliminator album is 120bpm, cause the producer knew that 120bpm songs were the most played on the radio at the time. These days people are far too used to everyhting being bang on pitch (modern pitch correction - Miley Cyrus???), and the technology is available to speed up or slow down without changing the pitch. I am not trying to say these are the only reasons, I geuinely found this thread an interesting read and obviously I have more to learn :)
  10. The guitar sound in RS is so processed it's maybe a waste of time/money upgrading pickups on a cheap guitar if it's only for RS. Setup is much more important, as it has to be "fun" to play. Someone also posted a while back (maybe on smithys I can't remember) that they thought putting heavier gauge strings on their Gio helped no end with intonation (note recognition). So splash out on some new 10s or 11s first :) And when you put new strings on you need to keep re-tuning the guitar for a few hours (maybe even a few days) until the strings settle down. And no, you are doing nothing wrong - it's just the time lag from down under :D
  11. Probably a reset of your machine helped...
  12. I like the new tone import, with the list which lets you choose which tones to import :)
  13. Just a reply to let people know that this is now solved. It was indeed a bug in the toolkit, which has now been fixed by Alex360. Get the latest Toolkit from his sig. Thanks man :D
  14. Here you go https://www.sendspace.com/file/f94qos Thanks and good luck :D
  15. Hi, I used the version from your sig "master-2.6.1.0-1d45d6373add", which I think is the latest version. Man, I dunno what to say... the tuning is broken or I am broken :) Please explain how to make a new custom tuning, because when I try it then it does not work? If you tick "Add as new tuning" or if you do not tick "Add as new tuning" it does not make a new tuning. When I manually add a new tuning to RocksmithTuningLib.XML then it does show up in drop down box, but it is not generated into package and it does not save in the toolkit template save - when you reload the save the arrangement says "Standard E" not the new custom tuning. I have began to discuss this in another thread if you do not want it here. The only way I have found to get a custom tuning actually into the game is to overwrite Standard E, otherwise it always comes up as Standard E. I realise it is possible, because others have managed it. But I am wondering whether anyone has succesfully mixed custom tunings in one arrangement and standard tuning in another?
  16. I am making some progress. I managed to get my custom tuning appearing in the toolkit (the drop down box) by adding <TuningDefinition Version="RS2014" Name="EADGBd" UIName="EADGBd" Custom="true"> <Tuning string0="0" string1="0" string2="0" string3="0" string4="0" string5="-2" /> </TuningDefinition> to RocksmithToolkitLib.TuningDefinition.xml which is in the toolkit install folder. I added all arrangements from scratch. But, when I save the template and reload it, the arrangement with the custom tuning is back to E standard. Also, the custom tuning is not generated into the package, it shows up as E Standard in game. What version of the toolkit did you use? Did you have only custom tunings, or customs with standard tunings? How did you make the custom tunings? Thanks for any help man :D Plan B is to make 2 separate customs, one for rhythm & bass and one for lead. Not ideal, but it's heading that way...
  17. nunezbg is correct. I was going to start a new thread but glad I found this. It is a problem with the toolkit as you can generate errors without going near the game. I was going to type.. I got a great custom ready, I just can't pack it up all in one package. It seems that to get a custom tuning into the game, then you need to "overwrite" the Standard E slot in the toolkit, which permanently messes up the toolkit (until you "reinstall"). This means that, in my case with 1 arrangement custom tuning and 2 arrangements Standard E, either I have to have them all in custom tuning or all in Standard E, I can't seem to mix them up. I have tried for hours many ways, so some suggestions would be good. The problem is with the toolkit (not the game) as there is some funny behavior happening only with saving templates with custom tunings (if you use the standard E slot then everything, including saves from completely different songs, in standard E shows as your custom tuning and if you use a different slot (overwrite Open D for example) then it does not save the custom tuning, it calls it standard E. I didn't want to go on too long as I know it would be confusing (typing out big explanations). Basically, I want to make a custom with lead as a custom tuning (EADGBd), but the rhythm and bass as standard E. If anyone knows how to do that (don't guess I've been at this hours and it's real nippy) then please, please tell me. I think that the problem is that, even with "Add as new tuning" tick boxed, it is not generating a new tuning - it is overwriting an existing one. Which really messes up the toolkit until you "reinstall" it. It is the same behavior with 2.6.0.0 and 2.6.1.0. Thanks :D
  18. I did have a quick read, but... My toolkit (2.6.0.0) is stuck in Drop D. I messed about with custom tuning and now I can;t go back to E Standard, Drop D is the highest choice in the list. It does this now for all saves. Thanks :D Edit - I try the newer one. Double Edit - After much messing about I can't get a custom tuning arrangement into the game with other standard E arrangements. Either they are all the custom tuning or they are all E standard. In the toolkit (2.6.1.0) when you "Add a new tuning" it overwrites the one you are on, it does not create a new one. When the box is not ticked it does the same thing. The only way (that I have found so far) to get a custom tuning into the game is to use the E Standard slot, but this then messes up the toolkit and you can't get E standard back. Requires reinstall of toolkit. You do not even have to go in game to see the problem. Toolkit setup with >1 arrangement, make 1 a custom tuning and the other(s) standard E. Save toolkit. Reload. Custom tuning arrangement now standard E. The custom tuning never made it into the game - game fine, toolkit has fault. Any ideas? How do I get into the game a Custom Tuning Lead, Standard E Rhythm and Standard E Bass? Thank you :D
  19. One I forgot with an excellent clean rhythm track is my custom of Seahorses - Blinded By The Sun http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/blinded-by-the-sun-r1394 The lead is really difficult but the rhythm is nice and "clean", and lots of fun :) Edit - and also Comfortably Numb, the rhythm path has nice clean chords too.
  20. Someone already mentioned my Pink - Family Portrait :D Off the top of my head, my customs with straight up easy chords paths (usually in rhythm in my customs) are Soul Asylum - Runaway Train Passenger - Let Her Go Bryan Adams - When You're Gone Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (lead path is quite easy and full of easy chords) Neil Young - Rockin In The Free World There's probably more, but I can't mind right now. Have fun man :)
  21. Hi, I made a short vid to help explain this problem of EoF messing up the end of charts when the tempo is changed. I think it occurs when you change the tempo more than once in a song, but I'm not positive. It is common enough for my workflow to be designed around this issue i.e. set up the beat map then re-import. http://youtu.be/uvaWgyt6E-U I don't know why it didn't record sound, but you can see that it's messed up the end of the chart and when I re-import it sorts it out. It is pretty common and happens (to me) a lot, but I know that you are going to ask for the specific GP file so here it is https://www.sendspace.com/file/kxlcim What I did -Import on 120 -Changed it to 96 as per GP file -Changed again to 91 a few bars in when I realised 96 was too fast -Continued setting up the beat map from left to right, and when I got to the end the notes were squashed -Re-imported the GP file and it gave me the full chart back I was using 1355, but it's been going on for quite a few revisions now. It really fkd me up a few times when I was less experienced (and didn't realise what was going on and how easy it was to fix), and I am sure it must really mess with some new charters heads... Thanks for any help :D
  22. There are some excellent tutorials on tone creation, you should have a read man. The quickest and easiest way to do it is to use tones that you like from other customs. In the toolkit in the tones section hit import, then navigate to your dlc folder and double click the custom that you want the tone(s) from. There will most likely be some testing still, regarding levels, but it's easy enough to change the levels and rebuild the your custom (takes longer to boot the game up again than change levels about). Just remember to remove previous versions from your dlc folder when testing newer versions. Point is don't fret about creating the perfect tone, just steal (ahem borrow) one from another custom. Once you gain more experience making custom you can start to look at other methods of creation/borrowing.
  23. This is the problem that I have tried to describe (badly) in the past. The workaround I use is to make sure the first beat marker (where I need it in the audio) is the beginning of the GP import, so you can re-import the GP file to your heart's content over your pre-made beat map, then you get the end of your chart back. This isn't perfect, as you still get red tech notes doing this (importing over a non 120 beat map). Also, you need to NOT let it add bars as the beginning (if you dragged the beat map to the audio, usually happens when GP files have notes bang on the the first bar) until you are happy that you have your full chart and beat map - if you let it add the extra bars to fill out the blank space at the start, the next GP import will be in the wrong place. The other obvious problem is that you need to finalise the beat map before messing with the actual tabs (wrong tabs, move tabs, tech notes) as when you re-import it will reset your work. Sounds more complicated than it is... basically finalise your beat map then re-import the GP file. Complex beat maps with the full (not broken) chart... :)
