  3. I played guitar (badly) for many years, but I switched to bass about 18 months ago, and what I like about the difficulty is that it's much more gradual. In other words, you can find songs at pretty much any difficulty level from trivial to insane, whereas with (lead) guitar, it's usually easy/medium riffs coupled with very difficult solos. So you either stick to the riffs, or invest some major sweat in the riff repeater to be able to play solos, which for me is not that fun, and besides, I don't have that kind of free time anymore. With the bass, you can always find a song you can play in its entirety, perhaps with a couple of mistakes. It's very rare that I have to go to the riff repeater and work on a single phrase for any extended period of time. With more difficult songs, I slow them down to 80-90% to learn them first, (@100% difficulty) then increase the speed slowly up to 100%.

  4. I'd say you're wrong. It's all about having fun while playing and practicing. If you're not one of the 0.01% who have an absolute iron will, you will need to have fun, or you'll give up sooner than Hellen Keller trying to play Baseball. Also, just forget your goals and enjoy what you're doing, be one with the music you're playing, let it flow through you like the force flows through a jedi (or sith, whatever floats your boat). Make it be fun. Even the tedious bits.

  5. Today I'm proud to announce that we will be offering a cool and special feature here at CustomsForge. This was actually recommended from a few members here and I want to thank you for the idea. We're going to launch this section in the future and have special CDLC's that will help you learn new guitar techniques. From anywhere from guitar scales to playing the bass quickly with your fingers, we will try to help you master ways to learn the guitar. Each CDLC will feature Dynamic Difficulty so you can begin at a steady pace and work your way up. We still have to figure out how we're going to do this but this is definitely something I am interested in doing. If you have any ideas, please suggest them!

  7. Hello Everyone, I have been trying to learn electric guitar for quite some time now. Unfortunately, the process is not going well for me. The main reason i grew interest in electric guitars is the insane solos by guitarists like Buckethead, Neil zaza .. etc. I am okay with the fact that i need a lot of patience to reach this level of playing. However, i faced the following issues and i would like to know your opinion about it. 1) Exercises bore the living shit out of me. Is it possible to skip the 1-2-3-4 exercises and jump straight to easy songs on Rocksmith and work my way up to harder songs. 2) I have a case called trigger finger, my pinky gets locked while playing. Some say it requires a surgery and others say that practicing would make the finger improve by time. If any of you had the same case, please share you experience with me. 3) My hand is really small , is this going to be limiting for me, meaning that i am going to be stuck with simple songs (no shredding in the "far" future)! 4) I have an awful time learning chord switching no matter how hard i exercise, single notes seem to be a lot easier to me, is this normal? 5) The first song i have tried to learn on RS is REM - Losing my religion because i like it and it seemed easy. i managed to play the single notes part on full speed and highest difficulty but for the chords part what am playing sounds completely different than the song itself because RS doesn't show the strumming pattern. Now, this song is popular so i think i could get the strumming pattern by googling it, but what about the less known songs? 6) Dynamic Difficulty vs Accelerometer. Should i use one of them or a combination of both? which one would be more beneficial to me on the long term? is there a "better method" here or is it just a matter of personal preferences.. I don't want to sound like a quitter because hey, Marc Playle plays with one hand and a hook but well, realistically speaking i dont have that kind of determination and i have this feeling that by facing all of these issues combined at start , am not going to reach any good level. Thanks in advance for your replies

  8. Hey all,The reason I'm not using a request thread is because I am wondering if anyone would like to team up and release some quality Nine Inch Nails customs with me. I'm a huge NIN fan and I actually have front-row tickets to see them this year (so fucking excited). Please let me know.I already have some in the works that needs syncing/polishing: Help Me I'm In HellThe Wretched (Note: try adding The Frail)The Day The World Went AwayHurtSomewhat DamagedEraserAll The Love In The World

  9. Yes, its works for me :) Pop-up messages not supported in Rs2014, it would work only for RS1.in Rs2014 we don't discovered how to use those pop-ups...

  10. I think that encoding issue, select it as karaoke template and set utf-7 encoding(its still 1byte encoding, utf-8 is a 2 byte encoding). Those would import even cyrillic(but we can't see font glyphs for it ingame and in EOF too). I still don't implemented cusom fonts for Rorckmith 2014, have no timeknowlage for this:(Also utf-8 used BOM indicator, EOF can't hadle it. take care.

  11. This feature would be amazing. I don't think you can, but I may be wrong.

  12. Well use utf-7 encoding, I just tested this new program and all works ust fine, I think i would use this kind of tools instead tapping words in Ultrastar song creator :)

  13. All of us get frustrated. Don't look too far ahead, you need many hours of practicing to develop muscle memory and create new neural pathways. If you have the passion in you for guitar, playing becomes part of your life, and helps you to become a better person. I started at age 52, 5 1/2 years ago. Looking back, I can't believe I didn't give up, progress was so slow, and my playing just shit for years, until I heard about Rocksmith2014 last October. The technical improvement in my playing the last few months has for me been astonishing. That doesn't mean much without some context about persevering. I worked as a miner in deep underground gold mines here in north Ontario from 1985 to 2009. The type of mining I did is called jackleg mining, and is very physical. So much so that I have a lot of legacy issues after busting ass for those years. Left hand index finger cut to the tendon and bone first joint, now curved so that barre chords are not straightforward. Left hand pinky, crushed by being pinned - yes another f'ing falling rock. Right hand had thumb split open by a rock fall, wrist broken, index finger broken. White hand in both hands and feet. ie: vibratory damage from drills And of course, the obligatory back strains from years of heavy lifting and exertion. I chose that work, because I loved it. The injuries made me stronger, and I accept them. That part of life is over, and playing guitar does it for me now, in a big way. If you want to be a good guitar player, you can be. Just tell that part of you that says, dammit all this practice is going nowhere, to step off and get out of your way. Hope you take the road. Its a life affirming one.

  14. Soilman is back..................................... Huge thanks to hdnsmbt, for helping bulk upload my customs. If it wasn't for his help, they probably wouldn't be on here for a long time. Now I can spend my time making more customs, any requests? 15. Was just wondering if it would be possible on the CDLC submit form to have at least 2 slots for playthrough videos (or one for each available instrument besides vocals), that way if somebody does one for bass and I do one for guitar (for example) I don't have to choose between the 2? Just an idea! Also, are you ONLY allowed to use the specified hosts for video discussions? I ask cos I have videos that would surely get nuked from youtube, but I can put on my Dailymotion acct. I haven't made a Vimeo yet cos I may actually make legit original videos at some point, and I don't wanna get kicked off there for potential infringement. It just seemed strange that some of the crappier hosts (Veoh, etc) aren't options.

  16. They have the information somewhere since RS use them but windows can't seem to exploit them by himself (and it's probably the same for mac). i have a good idea while writing this, creating a program to act like a library to put them in RS or deleting them and keeping them up to date, so no problem with the way people name it the program should be able to get the information that RS use, sort them as you wish (kind of like in the CDLC database but for your own DLC folder). I'm not actually able to make this by myself but i think it would pretty cool to have this kind of tool.

  17. I am working on a backlog of requests right now but I would definitely be in for some NIN bass charts soon! Was planning to do The hand that feeds, Just like you imagined and Closer bass charts, but i'd much rather contribute to a full custom :)

  18. It might depend on the version used for the DD creation, i have never seen this on my custom while using the last version of DDC but i've seen it in older custom that might have used an older version of DDC. If someone try to recreate the DD on the file and see if the problem is still there, it could clear that up.

  19. I create a lot of vocals part at the moment and i think EOF could really be upgraded on this part with one little tweak. The fact the the phrases (the blue part that indicate a line in rocksmith) doesn't move with the actual text, so every time you move lyrics you have to remark every phrases which is really annoying. The solution i was thinking of is to attach the start and the end of a phrases to an actual text so that if the text move, the phrase move in the same way. I don't know if it's easy to add in EOF but it will surely make vocals edit much easier.

  20. I can relate with this. I've been playing bass off and on for almost 35 years now. Mainstream music tends to have bass lines that are not as difficult as the guitar. As already stated, usually just peddeling around the chord root. But there is an awful lot of music that has extremely challenging bass in it, if that what you're looking for. Specifically in the Prog and Fusion Jazz genres, along with some Arena Rock bands. Try some songs by The Who, Yes, Rush, Jethro Tull, Kansas, ELP, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Return To Forever, Weather Report, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Transatlantic, Spock's Beard, Tool, etc..., and you will probably quickly change your opinion to the bass being a very complex instrument to play. All in my opinon, of course. hehe... :)

  21. I've been reading tabs for close on 15 years, and didn't find anything 'unnatural' about the RS display. Because it's not tab, or standard notation; it's not easier or harder either way. Just different. And if you're set in your ways, getting shaken up isn't a bit thing.

  22. I have this. It's similar to body dysmorphia, like what drives certain people into anorexia. I listen to other people play and think they sound great. When I listen to myself, I can hear only flaws -- but other people really enjoy what I do. I wasn't bothered by this when I was a young punk - I just went up on stage and played and didn't give a shit. This only developed as I got older. At a certain point, I even got too stressed out to bring a guitar on stage with me (I'm a singer first)... In my last band, I wrote all my guitar parts specifically to keep my stress levels lows (very easy riffs). I started out a bass player, but switched to guitar because it's much more difficult to sing while playing bass... hats off to Sting and Phil Lynott!

  23. I had £200 to spend on a small amp and effects set-up for home. Got myself a Roland 30x, and a Boss GT-6 off eBay with £50 to spare. Can't say I'm not happy... http://i.imgur.com/asyv6TW.jpg

  24. In my opinion it's better to learn a song with slow speed and full difficulty. When you learn it with increasing difficulty you may have to correct your left hand fingers from time to time, because a part is playable better with another finger set. Doing this you will learn the song more than once. My hint: Take Riff Repeater, select a slow tempo that fits your abilities and use full difficulty. It's the way i learn best.

  25. Hello everyone! I wanted to say thanks to everyone who's supported us so far. First off I wanted to explain what your donations was used for. The negatives are what I've purchased. The websites domain for $15 and the IP.Board & IP.Download system for $225 I have $142.93 USD Left in paypal and I plan to let all users know where their money went. I will not pocket any of this money as it will be used for this website only. Edit: I've moved the transactions list to Google Spreadsheet. Please view it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zfCUmm0Wj8V1KW_Xrh8JWhV1Sio7H7F-OHeY4E09NAA/edit?usp=sharing Thank you SO much to everyone. Okay now, for the future of the website I have a few things in motion. 1) We will most likely use http://rscdlc.com/ for our DLC system. We will modify it to make it better. 2) We will use IP.Downloads for our file system. You can do EVERYTHING you dreamed it. Some of the features: - It counts every download - Searchable fields (Title, Artist, etc) - NOTIFICATIONS for file updates. This is a huge update I'm looking forward to. No longer have to deal with outdated CDLC. - Report broken file downloads to the CDLC creator & More! 3) We are actively working with PHP developers to upgrade to our new CDLC system. 4) We are looking into hiring a Skin designer to design a professional dark-themed type skin. (Possibly a white one too). Please note this will take some time but I'm hoping to get all of this in motion within the week. I'd like to have everything up and running soon so we can have an awesome community with awesome CDLC. I also want to give thanks for my wife, Ally who has been here since the morning helping me out with everything. I'm looking forward to working with everyone to create the ultimate CDLC website.
