  1. Hi first forum post over here, after playing bass for almost a year I am having a hard time finding bass parts that are difficult and interesting enough to make me want to play them. So if anyone could link me to technical death, progressive metal or anything that's difficult and interesting that would be great. I am looking specifically for bass guitar. stuff i already have all the Death songs (so amazing) decapitated symmetry of zero (after 2 weeks of practice I am close to being able to play it proficiently.) mastodon (some are boring but there a few fun tracks to play) Opeth (these are a ton of fun to play) porcupine tree born of Osiris (only one interesting song sadly) so if you know of anything like these especialy decapitated and death please tell me, that would be awesome thanks.
  2. someone uploaded their version .. I will not be publishing mine. If someone wants the bassline I have created just message me for a link. If you want to complete it let me know and I'll send you the sources. I find it playable as-is and wil definitely get you going on the song.
  3. Hi everyone ! I've been lurking here and enjoying custom DLCs for what should be now a month. I really appreciate all the work you guys do here, and I thought I'd contibute to this awesome community ! :D Here's my first try at CDLC : "Epitome Of Torture" by Sodom http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/500/90582573/Epitome+Of+Torture+folder.jpg Artist : Sodom Album : Epitome Of Torture Title : Epitome Of Torture Genre : Thrash Metal Version : 1.1 Instrument(s) : Bass Tuning : D Standard Custom Tone : Yes DD : Yes Package ID : Cherub Rock Platform(s) : PC Download Link http://www56.zippyshare.com/v/30754719/file.html Video Link http://vbox7.com/play:452cb5e494 (I could't find it on YouTube, sorry guys) I tested it a few times, and don't think there is any issue on my side, so I'd like some of you to test it to see if it's properly working on someone else's computer :P I would also like some feedback on the custom tone I used, if you think it bodes well with the song or if I should change it. Thank you and have fun with this ! :)
  4. Heya all, just wonder if someone is avalible to work on the afore mentioned Quarterflash song, not a tricky one on bass but a good song still. Here is the tube link to a video in which a guy does a cover on bass and also includes a link to a bass tab notation:
  5. Hi, first of all, this is my first post and I might have forgotten to present myself in the right section of the forum, please excuse me about that. For my first Rocksmith 2014 DLC, I wanted to try a special version of Master of Puppets by Metallica, arranged by a very talented bass player, Bruno Masquio (Which I know only from his youtube videos). llPWNYj5O6U I had a few problems with the grid snap, the triplets and the slides in the 6/8 bars, so forgive me if it is not perfect yet. I also tried to put a lead guitar track, for those who want to play the distorted part on guitar (I tried it and it seems to work but it shows under "Rhythm guitar path"). Comments and help are welcome. I especially need advice on which tones to use. Supported Instruments: Lead Guitar (Same as Bass Bonus), Bass (Clean), Bass Bonus (Distorted) Tuning: E standard DD: yes (auto generated) Download link: download Disclaimer: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976; Allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. 6. Hello fellow music gamers, I just wanted to see if anyone else finds that they suffer from hand fatigue really quickly while playing. I notice it a lot when I am playing songs at full speed and especially down tuned songs. Sometimes, it might happen during my first song, other days I can go for a good 2 hours. This doesn't happen when I'm practising scales or doing slower tab playthroughs. I do try to relax my hand, and use less pressure. I've even lowered the action on my bass so that a gentle touch is all that's needed, but sometimes that just doesn't work for me. Any tips from long-time players
  7. Hi everyone, OK so this is my first CDLC ever, and (hopefully) the first in a series of Motown Classics (see my other thread about that here : http://customsforge.com/topic/9534-motown-classics/) Right now I would really appreciate your feedback about it : is the sync ok? Does DD work correctly? Do you feel the tone could be better? (If you do, then please let me know where I can find a tutorial about it, like I said this is the first song I've charted so there are plenty of things I'm not familiar with yet). Enough talking, here are the links : For PC users : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6m_wq3Xxyzrd1FQYjhISG1QZWs/edit?usp=sharing For Xbox users : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6m_wq3XxyzrVjV3akxybVdKeWs/edit?usp=sharing (I still have to figure out how to create files for Mac and PS3 users) Oh and one last thing : I must give huge thanks to @@Chlipouni for his excellent tutorial and careful assistance. I could never have done this without him! His website is http://guitargames.wordpress.com/ and it's a true goldmine!! Thanks !!!
  8. Hi everyone, I'm working on my first CDLC ever (You Can't Hurry Love by The Supremes) and I'm thinking about many more Motown old school classics for future posts. The thing is, I'm a bassist so I started with a bass tab only. And when I started trying to add a rhythm guitar track I had a really hard time and simply gave up. So I wanna know if any guitar player is willing to help me with this project of Motown Classics? Maybe a pack of 4-5 songs to start with. Cheers Fred
  9. I have uploaded already a couple of CDLC's with only lead track. I now wanted to test it on bass, but when I start the song in RS2014 there are no notes. Its just empty. I tried real part bass and real part bass 22 track in EOF but none of them work. I really don't know what i'm dong wrong. Anyone suggestions? Thanks

  14. Ok, I don't see this topic in either the Gear Garage or the Off-Topic list. I hope this is not a repeat. I have an opportunity to buy a new bass, and am looking for ideas. I know the types I have wanted over the years, but I want some ideas before I spend the $$$. I am looking for either a 5 or 6 string. So, what type and what model would you get if you could buy any bass?
  15. As you may or may not know, on rocksmith, the bass has trouble with low tunings such as Drop B. There has since been a way to fix it posted here on customsforge but i don't know if i fully understood it. I have tried the fix (as much as i could understand) on one of my CDLC songs that needs Drop B tuning. My guess is that i did something wrong, but i need someone to test it out so please can some of you test out the Bass section in the song. Oh and you have to have a real bass guitar. Thanks! *EDIT* Sorted, thanks to dave.
  16. Hello people, My girlfriend's got a (not Fender) P-bass pretty cheap, and it hadn't got any pickups. So I told her I could try and wire it for her, if she buys some pickups. Her dad then bought pickups without a brand or whatsoever, and after checking wiring diagrams I don't think they can be wired into the bass, but I'm not sure. I've got some pictures of the Pickups: http://i.imgur.com/Zfo33oJ.jpg As you see, the blue wire is the connection of the elements, then there's the yellow wire to connect to the volume control, but all pickups and wire diagrams I've seen have another wire also going to the volume control. My girlfriend's dad says it should work by cutting the wires between the two elements, and wire them via the cavity, but I really don't see how this works.. Can somebody explain how I should do this or why it isn't possible? My girlfriend is dying to start practicing bass. Here is the cavity of the bass: http://i.imgur.com/EzImLCT.jpg Thanks in advance! Helderdje
  17. Following the discusssion here about bass recognition problem below C1 note and possible creation of 5 strings bass part here is the tutorial to get the recognition to work and to actually make possible a 5 strings bass part in Rocksmith 2014! I. Bass recognition workaround First off, it's only necessary to do this when the bass part have note below the C1. Which means any B Standard or lower and C# drop B and lower tuning need to go through this operation. Step 1 : EOF Tuning change Select the bass part (Song -> Track -> Part Real_Bass or Part Real_Bass_22)Change the tuning (Track -> Pro Guitar -> Set Tuning) following the rule belowFor each strings, the number will be equal to the number of half steps below E standard plus 12. Exemple : for B standard each fret is 5 half steps below standard (-5 in EOF) so you will indicate in eof -5+12=7 for all the strings Note that when you import a GP file EOF take the tuning from it, so you will just have to add 12 to the number indicated in EOF. Say NO when EOF ask you to transposeNote that the strings name should keep the same in EOF, or it means that you didn't add 12 Step 2 : Toolkit tuning Add the bass arrangementDon't change the tuning (it import the one from EOF)Change the Tuning Pitch to 220 (the toolkit indicate an offset of -1200.00 and the note will A3 instead of A4Do everything else as alwaysStep 3 : Enjoy! II. 5 strings bass Step 1 : EOF 5 strings bass part Disclaimer : Create your 5 strings bass part in EOF in a guitar part as you will usually do with any partFor the tuning, if you've imported it from a GP file you don't have anything to do. If you've created the part in EOF, change the tuning in EOF just by getting the name of the strings right (doesn't care for the higher strings if you kept 6 strings in EOF) The standard for 5 and 6 strings bass would give the following tuning in EOF : Step 2 : Toolkit bass part Add a new arrangementSelect your xml file containing the 5 strings bass partType : GuitarName : Lead or Rythm, it will just change where it will be in rocksmithTuning : Should be the same as in EOFCheck the bonus arrangement if you don't want the bass part to be too easy to start with a guitar because a guitar won't be able to play it!Change the tuning pitch to 220 instead of 440.Do as usual for the tone.Step 3 : Enjoy! Warning : A guitar player won't be able to play it normally (maybe if you have a pedal that allow you to play as low as a bass)Alert the player that this is available, Rocksmith absolutely doesn't alert you by himself!Rocksmith used the lower tuning between the normal arrangement and the bonus one for sorting by tuning so if the bass use a lower tuning (based on the number set in EOF) than the guitar arrangement, RS will indicate the bass tuning! I forgot to mention the men that made all of this possible by his findings : Ross A big thanks to him!
  18. Hey everybody - I just bought a 5-string bass (Epiphone Thunderbird Pro 5), and thought it would be fun to use for the few custom songs that use a tuning involving a B or lower for bass. However, I ran into a few issues. Things I know: I know Rocksmith only "supports" a 4 string bass; at least in the sense that if you are in the bass path it will only show 4 strings (red, yellow, blue, orange). Can't get it to display a 5th string, although I suppose it MIGHT be possible to use the lead or rhythm path and just tell it that you are using a "guitar" in a custom, really low tuning. But that would show 6 strings instead of 5. Anyway, that isn't too important. Standard 5-string bass tuning is BEADG. I know that customs can be created with a bass arrangement set to tunings like BEAD or even lower. So, if a song intended for a 5-string bass uses that low B but doesn't have any notes on the G string (or if they can be transcribed to higher frets on the D), it seems like it SHOULD work. For a BEAD(G) tuning song, you'd just mentally shift the "red" string to the B, yellow for E, etc. Then for a song in standard tuning, you'd just skip the low B and shift back to red being E, etc. It IS possible to play bass customs set to BEAD (or lower) tuning with a guitar set for bass emulation. I tried that, and while it sounds really bad to my ear, it will at least let you tune. HOWEVER -- it seems like this doesn't actually work with a real bass. When I plug in my bass and try to play a custom in BEAD, I notice that there seems to be a threshold/limit built into Rocksmith's detection system set exactly at the frequency of that low B string. If I am slightly sharp from B, it shows up on the tuner and will display down to roughly 4 cents sharp. If I tune down any lower than that, the meter starts to flake out and bounce around all over the place -- like it knows that it is hearing *something*, but it just can't quite figure out the frequency. I have been unable to get the game to pass the tuning stage at the start of a song in BEAD without switching to a guitar and using bass emulation. If I try to tune down from slightly sharp, it isn't stable or close enough for the game to think that it is in tune. If I tune the string to perfect B (or any lower) using a chromatic or other software tuner, the game just gets fully confused and has no idea what it is hearing. Anybody else with a 5-string bass (or a standard bass tuned down to BEAD) notice these issues?

  22. Would you mind uploading the PART REAL_BASS_22_RS2.xml file? Even if it's incomplete I can copy/paste or whatever needs to be done. Losing notes sucks, but it's still fun to jam along. Giving you both the F*cked up PART REAL_BASS_22_RS2.xml (ended up in Wrong Tuning and 5-string...) & PART REAL_BASS_RS2.xml This one is almost fine, may need a little copy pasting to finish... I Transposed what i could so it's Setup in CEAD = C1 E1 A1 D2 or in EoF it's -5-5-5-4 (the -4 the low C1(Fattest/RED String) Lowest we can tune to...) http://www.sendspace.com/file/x5kv3i
  23. Lately, I've been unable to both play and test songs in RS2014 on bass, because out of nowhere a few days ago, my bass strings started acting up. Basically, when I strum a string (fingered or picked), it will make a muted, twang-y sound that quickly fades away, though it still makes normal, solid and lasting notes when I strum while holding down on a fret. Unfortunately, this makes traditional tuning pretty much impossible. I posted about this on another forum and was told that this likely has to do with how the strings are arranged in the nuts on the headstock, and I've spent a while attempting to properly restring that part, despite having no idea how to go about the proper way since I'm still generally a novice, and I've already broken 2 or 3 strings in the process and am out of spares. Does anyone have any advice for this? I've included a picture of the headstock and nuts if that helps. http://i.imgur.com/A6gvU05.jpg
  24. I do have the Bass Hero Project started, but I am also planning to do other customs to change a bit! What I'm working on: John Lennon - Imagine: Bass is complete, Rhythm Guitar (piano) still needs DD and Lead Guitar (vocals) still needs to be finalized. Tones are yet to be found/created. Van Halen - Eruption: Bass is complete, Lead Guitar just needs DD (tech notes are included!) Yes - Roundabout: I just have started this one; please be patient! What I've already released: Nothing - yet If you think you can help me in any way, you are greatly welcomed!
