these two below are my (poor) first sightreading from xmas day

Blind Guardian and Dream Theater on the same week, both on my top 5 bands of all time, can't ask for more! And with two great legendary songs (or parts of a legendary song)
Also Dragonforce is always a fun addition
Great theme and taste @ Mikson , thanks!
and merry xmas to all of you!- 1

can't do better, the quick bends and tricks on the pentatonic scale are tough for me
-
can we create a bonus track for mc lead in which I can play jimmy ponder at 50% o 60% speed? maybe so I get a change to get some chords right
Just kidding!- 1

lovely song, a pleasure
classic
this one below for me is like 7. I've studied it a bit too but the chords and the changes are tough for me. Maybe it's only for me. Beautiful song
nice, messed up sightreading the solos as usual (that are not difficult per se)
this one is imho a 7 max, fast and tight changes but essentially only power chords and predictable rhythm

Great selection! Does it last two weeks for Christmas? I'd like to have the time to play the song properly, even the more difficult ones!
I've started from one of my fav bands, Halestorm (I've seen them live the first time when they were the assist group for Alter bridge in 2011)
first try was 85%, those bendings are quick quick quick, damn Lzzy you are a born rockstar!

from 80 to 84 after other 30 minutes. every point is literally sweat

My best till now after 45 mins of practice on it on various days, not very satisfying .
Sadistic chords (piano chords), even more sadistic when every chord is played after the 12th in impossible positions I like to suffer, anywaySightread lead, it's easier for sure than rhythm

Great song, I didn't think it was so funny to play.
I have this problem with bends on the 22th of the E string.. they never get recognized, on any song. Intonation seems fine, so I don't know what is. Even if I slide to the 24th instead of bending the 22th, it's not recognized.
Supertramp rhythm for me it's like a 9!

better
I'm working on the supertramp rhythm parts and it's a.. nightmare. But the song is cool and when I get a section and speed up is very satisfying. Let's see how far I get

I had to study the strumming with Guitar Pro!

love theme weeks, and love this one! thanks @ jellisjenius , kudos to you!
sightread, I have to catch the strumming and the rhythm better
Tried Supertramp but I was lost with the chords, I need to study it more. I love when the are these chords alternated with bass and quickly changed, also if there are weird chords, is better
Love the Journey song too- 2

again, what a piece!
(never mind the orange section, it's the "smart" auto DD that scaled down in the middle. anyway I'm not competing in mc lead)

improved on 2nd run
mc rhythm, yesterday sight read
mc rhythm today after studying every arpeggio for a while, for a total of an hour on the song
great song btw!!! both lead and rhythm

amorphis a 6 also for me, not 7
really like this one (I initially thought it was the doom clone videogame soundtrack )
but too hard to sightread for meI generally agree with you @ nlbsmglsk on arpeggios. More often than not if I don't RR slow to death I will look up to the Guitar pro generated tab and then 90% of the arpeggios are easy to grok and play

Work + family sick for me this week so I didn't have any real time to play. It's a shame because I love Trivium
I've played basically only adv lead

The hand movements aren't really faster than what a pop punk band would do, it's the weird timing, and the drumming doesn't help. Try listening to it and counting out loud, you'll see what I mean.
I agree, at first it seems hard to follow but is the weird timing / rhythm, if you RR you get the pattern. My first run was 71%! Then with RR I got the feeling with the various sections
sightread, nice funny song!

@ Rodman yes the solo has some 7 bits in there! I agree with the score anyway, 6.5 o 7 for me, not above nor below
ouch on this sightreading, they are a crazy band. but I like them because of it
