  1. I have never had a virus from a torrent. Back in the day before torrents, viruses were easily identifiable, because if you try to download a text file and it ends up being a .exe it was obvious it was a virus. With that said, I never download torrent packs for CDLC because many of the songs are badly made demos.
  2. First record probably was Six Feet Under: Maximum Violence and first concert was an Immolation one.
  3. I see that a lot as well. And I use a frethand mute as people describe here to mute the middle string. But I never like the way octaves sound. It could be my guitar but they rarely sound like what the song actually sounds like.
  4. Thanks for responding! I hope the next search engine doesn't become too difficult to program! :)
  5. My suggestion is instead of having a check mark in the dynamic difficulty search results, is to have the # of levels instead. I find that for the single level difficulty songs, if it is my first time playing it and I do not max everything, it will level me down on in general. I know I can adjust manually in riff repeater, but it can be difficult to decide which was the optimal one I was at before. Plus having the # of difficulty levels may encourage people to add more.
  6. Being a noob you had me going there for a second! Here is my thought process...At first I was thinking "ok nice amp effect." Then I was thinking "alright so where did those licks come from?" Then "Wait a second, I couldn't get that kind of tone from pure synth automated notes, and I havent seen anything close to that from a synth before!" Then I was thinking "OK this plug in must match the notes to some pre-rendered licks from a huge library." lol only makes sense that it is a april fools joke.

I took an amplifier out of old PC speakers. Then I connected two speakers from an old stereo to it and run it through the headphone jack. I am thinking of using a diode to connect a subwoofer.
  8. I had some no-name strings for a while. They would tarnish, break, and sound horrible. So I switched to Ernie Ball's regular slinky. They buzz a little, but probably because I need to adjust the action on my guitar. But other than that they sound great compared to my other ones.Once I go through my stock of strings, I will attempt to get some higher quality ones.
  9. I think I need to study up on the theoretical basis of roots, 5ths, and 7ths in the creation of chords.
  10. Thanks for responding guys! I seen some cheap 5 strings at guitar center the other day. I was tempted in buying one for my wife (as she has played the 4 string for years), but I wasn't sure what she would use it for.
  11. I have a newb question. What is the advantage of having the 5th string? Do people mostly use it for downtuning or chords?
  12. I have had a lot of experience with MIDI files. I usually use this program when editing them http://www.anvilstudio.com/ . I remember merging midi files before, sometimes it worked great, sometimes bad if each one was at different tempos. My wife uses Synthesia, and I was surprised in the lack of a "customsforge" associated with it. Let me know if anyone starts one because I can contribute MIDIs. P.S. if you are having latency issues in Synthesia, having it synthesize through your keyboard (instead of PC) will usually fix it.
  13. I was confused why as well! And your The site. An angry user we banned basically is mad. I was confused why too, and your suggestion is the most likely motive I can think of.
  14. I was wondering if anyone has any theories on the DDoS attack that happened? Was it aimed at this site or was it aimed at the server, which may have other sites of target hosted on it?
  15. I didn't see this answer specifically, although someone could have mentioned it previously. For the TV lag, rocksmith recommends not using the HDMI audio. You can still connect the HDMI cable for video. But it recommends going through the soundcard for the audio. I know even for the PS3 it doesnt want the HDMI audio, and it preffers the audio go through the component.
  16. Between the tab layout and the rocksmith layout I wonder which is best for actually learning? My background is in synth type music (video game scores pretty much), but I never liked the synth distorted guitar (still no good synth high gain guitar exists to this day), so I ended up learning how to play guitar. I can decipher tabs, but when I compose using synths, I use a piano roll type format (as this is what usually happens using synths), and they both end up being equivalent. To cut to the chase, having a playing style that is closer to tabs is not much of an advantage to me, just because of my background going between multiple formats. However if a tab-like format is natively more intuitive to the human mind in learning then that is something I would want to look into.
  17. I am probably slow. But when downloading from the CDLC search I dont see a thanks button at all. If there is one, where is it? I know there is one in the forum side of things, but it doesn't seem to be on the CDLC search pages.
  18. I have to say that I am not a major fan of guns and roses, but I do have an opinion of an artists obligation to fans. In my opinion the only obligations they have is what the fans purchased. If they sold you a concert ticket, they must perform at the concert. If they sold you a CD, then that CD should have their music. And it really ends there. If we get any more music or reponses from them that is their decision, but they don't owe anything.Lifetime fans of bands often think the bands owe something to them for such dedication. But in my opinion that fan invested too much given no promise of return. And if all that I heard about Axl is true, he doesn't really deserve to be near Slash again. It seems unmoral for Axl to profit off of people he treated so badly.
  19. I just tried Ninja Slide again today and it was fine lol! I wonder if it has something to do with the knob settings on my guitar.
  20. I have only been able to do it on guitar with thicker strings. Not bass, sorry :(
  21. I am surprised a lot of people don't use guitarcade much. I usually use it to warm up. Then I usually always end with song practice. Lately I have been playing songs I don't normally play.I rarely use session mode. It is really not set up for the music I like to play nor the tunings I like to use.Once I start getting better at songs, then I try a new lesson. I usually make it a challenge to get 100% on a practice lesson. When I get really good on a song, I will score attack it on hard or expert. I usually dont bother with easy or medium.
  22. Immolation, Jungle Rot, and Battersea. I almost had the chance to see Gigan and Origin but their gigs were canceled for various reasons. I would like to see Immolation again, and stand further away so I can hear all of the instruments lol. But I still would like to see Gigan. I also would like to see Rings of Saturn.
  23. So I loaded rocksmith and one of the missions was to get to level 8 on ninja slide. I usually do well on that game, but this time it wouldn't pick up any of my slides on the low E string. I recently changed strings to thinner ones and the game wasn't having any of it.I figured a song might be more fun, so I decided to load a CDLC I just got. Well it had no tone, and sometimes songs without tone does weird things to my game. Anyway I had to tune down to D drop C for it, and the game gave me a dissapointing performance: oh well! After that, I decided to cheer myself up and play a song I know. Well tuning back up to E standard, broke my high E string. Luckily I have back up strings, but my next mission is to find some higher quality ones.It was a good thing I didn't give up there. So I restringed the guitar and I knew which songs would cheer me up. So I loaded up a bunch of black keys songs and those are easy enough for me to play from memory and didn't mess them up (almost got a platinum pick on mastery difficulty!). But hey, atleast my guitar wasn't stolen, and black keys were enough to cheer me up!Has anyone just had one of "them days" with rocksmith?
  24. How do you calculate the tension?
