Question

Hello,

I tried to search for an answer for this, but since my question/issue has to do with broken searches, you'll soon see why I may not have been able to find anything....

So....  is there a reason why, when searching through the search bar at the top, I get a 404 "Page Cannot Be Found" error if searching for something that doesn't exist?

To clarify, what I mean is this;  If I search the video submissions for "Oasis", I obviously get a lot of results.  But, if I search for "Oasis Lyla" (which I've deduced there are no results), I get the 404 error.

This happens any time I search for something that the search engine can't find.  I get directed to this link: "http://customsforge.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1"

The error 404 is for non existing information, so if you're searching for something that does not exist it's absolutely normal to have a 404 error. I don't really see a problem here...

Really, you think it's normal to have search results be a page not found error?  Usually you get a "0 results found" type message on the actual search page.  I shouldn't be directed to a page that doesn't exist.

Go to another forum and do a search.  You'll get a results page, even if it has 0 results, not a 404 error.

Just putting my +1 on this request.

What is problematic is that I have to use my browsers "previous page" button to start a new search when my last one brought no results.

That is extremly uncomfortable!

... but maybe this topic should be placed in the tracker forum :-)

My ideas for new features in Ignition, e.g. filters for Multitrack CDLC and Metronome CDLC.

Any search that has 0 results.  For instance, search this topic for "halloween" and you get a "The page cannot be found" page, instead of a search results page with 0 results.

It bothers me as well, because you have to hit the back button to get back to the actual forum.

I shall confirm this thread as a still existing problem.

My initial determination for this problem is the IP Board is actually throwing a 404 Header which is being picked up by the hosting and rather than showing a null result it is displaying the aforementioned 404 handler.
