Question

Hey!

I've been trying for a bit to make a CDLC of a Scar Symmetry song. Turned out to be somewhat tricky as they use 7 stringed guitar in their songs.. After I've made the CLDC in all necessary programs and put it into Rocksmith, it shows the tuning as E standard.. This has happened with all of the Scar Symmetry songs I've tried to make so far..

In EOF the tuning is set as E standard as well, but if I try to change this in the RSTK it doesn't change in game.

Also the tuning of the gp file is set as B standard (if that is the tuning they use, let's just say it is B standard as an example here) yet it doesn't change up in the game, nor EOF or the RSTK...

Anyone know how to get by this?

Thanks.

7 strings tabs are way more complicated to get by than it seems.

You have two option depending on how the tab is done :

- You get rid of the lowest strings of the 7 strings guitar

- You get rid of the highest strings of the 7 strings guitar

The second option is usefull if the highest strings isn't use that much cause having to transpose the highest strings will easily lead to non-supported fret number quite fast in some solo...

The first option is the usually easy way but it has some downside too.

I won't go into detail on what to do etc. but the first solution will lead you to a E std (or Drop D) tunnig (if the 7 strings is in BEADGBE aka B std for 7 strings) while the second one will leads you to a custom tuning that can't easily be named (it's not B std since BEADGB isn't the same as BEADF#B ).

Whatever solution you decide to use you have to understand how guitar tuning are set and how each solution will affect the tuning you will use in EOF/Toolkit.

On a side note : never change the tuning in the toolkit! Eof is the only place you need to define the tuning. Changing it in the toolkit will only lead to recognition issue as far as i know.

This is what your tuning window in EoF should look like for B Standard tuning (7 string with the highest string dropped):

And the tuning that is set in EoF, is the tuning that the song will use. Setting a different tuning in the toolkit will only lead to getting a different tuning in the menu, but not in the song itself. Though I believe in the later toolkits, this setting is actually ignored.
