  1. In your Steam Library, right click on Rocksmith and select properties.Select the tab "local files"Click "Verfify integrity of game cache"or... completely uninstall the game and redownload everything. I keep a backup of the complete folder "D:\Games\Steam\userdata\********\221680\remote"I use file version history backup(?) (Dateiversionsverlauf in german) function that is integrated in Windows 8 to do a backup of this folder every hour Those Disc# files are most likely a backup you did from within Steam - correct? You have go "Steam" -> "Backup and Restore Games" and select the first file for restoringThis is the same thing as downloading the files from the internet - it just reinstalls the gameThis has got nothing to do with the progress on your personal game profiles! You cannot do a backup of your profiles with Steam (your profile is infact "backed up" to the Steam Cloud... but that one gets corrupted as soon as your local copy is) I suggest the only useful thing now is to ask user cozy1 for help, directly in the thread Alex mentioned.
  2. I am so exited! I am (more or less) done with my very own Rocksmith Footswitch and it is AWESOME! Thanks again to Rodman for this great idea and this detailed tutorial. I would like to share my experience with all of you, because I extended the idea. When I told him about my plans for the footswitch, a friend of mine had the idea to use a Arduino microcontroller instead of a regular keyboard. At first I thought this was way too much effort, but then I realized the potential. Footswitch with the first three LEDs alight, so it is currently in Mode #3: Here is a link to a folder with some more pictures: http://1drv.ms/1sls8Pi So, what are the advantages of using the Arduino instead of a keyboard? Arduino is a tool / platform / combination of both open source hardware and software. The microcontrollers have in- and output pins that can receive signals (e.g. closing an electrical circuit by pushing a botton) or send signals (e.g. lighting a LED by sending current through an output). When connected to a PC (via USB), they can also send signals to the computer, for example (emulated) keyboard signals. The code to control how the Arduino works is written in C - it is very easy, due to the number of tutorials available. By writing a useful program and uploading it to the Arduino, I enabled my footswitch to do lots of things, not only send the keyboard keys 1, 2, 3 and 4. With the 5th button on my footswitch, I can select different modes by counting how many times I pressed it. It works something like that: This explanation is not complete, but I hope you get the idea! The next thing I want to implement is a "hold button" command in Menu Mode to be able to navigate through longer lists or change settings like volume more easily. But at this point I can already control the whole game with nothing but my feet :D (Edit 1 hour later: I think I found a good way. If I press a button several times in a certain amount of time, it is now set to be kept pressed until I press another button.) So, what components did I use? I bought the Fame FS500 5 button footswitch. Here is a link to a german store, where it only costs 24,90€. http://www.musicstore.de/de_DE/EUR/Fame-FS500-5-fach-Fu-schalter-/art-GIT0010472-000?recId=51c07e20-9984-11e4-9d13-448a5bd44d45 It was the cheapest footswitch with 5 buttons that I could find on the internet, but the quality is very satisfying. The casing is completely made of metal (no plastic) and has a rubber bottom that prevents it from sliding around on the floor. It's also quite heavy, which feels good. When unscrewing the original 7 pin connector, the remaining hole is large enough to fit a usb plug through. The soldering and electrical connections inside are done well. Infact due to the pin connector that was used, I was able to connect the Arduino to the buttons with only pin cables. Soldering was only required to separately control the LEDs. The Arduino Board is a Arduino Leonardo (not all Arduinos can be used as emulated keyboards). Here is one tutorial that shows how to send keystrokes with the push of a button: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/KeyboardMessage And this one shows how to control a LED: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Fade Basically all I had to do was combine and extend those tutorials for 5 buttons and 5 LEDs. If you want to do it yourself those tutorials should tell you everything you need, so I won't do my own tutorial. But if anyone is interested, I am happy to share the code of my program! You need a special (free) software and drivers for the Arduino. Compiling and uploading a new program to the Arduino and resetting it takes about 10 seconds. But once you uploaded a program, emulating a keyboard works plug&play on any other PC (I tested Win 7 and 8), no drivers required. As you can see, the possibilities are nearly endless. I can extend the functionality for Rocksmith, but of course I can also use the footwitch for any other purpose. I could configure the buttons for use on the desktop or in other games and either upload a new program each time I want to use it for something else, or use the buttons to change the way it works. This is the first time I have used an Arduino, and it is exiting to think about what completely different stuff can be done with those. Go check out the "What have you built with Arduino?" videos on their website ;) Regards, Azrael
  3. Here is my score for the week. Very fun to play! I have to pass on Walk the Plank though, not enough practise time :-) Intermediate Lead: 98.44 % http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=372799962
  4. Aerials is an official DLC, just go ahead and buy it! (CDLC of official content is not allowed on Customsforge) Futhermore, there is a special form for CDLC requests: http://requests.customsforge.com/ Please read through the FAQ before your next post... http://customsforge.com/faq/
  5. Just an idea: You could enable Metronome Bonus Arrangements in the customs you want to play, mute the original music and tell the drummer to listen to the ingame metronome. This way he can keep the original tempo ;) See the links in my signature for a tutorial and example CDLC!
  6. Welcome to Customsforge! And thanks for both reading the FAQ and posting in the correct forum - a lot of people are not able to do that^^ The problem you are experiencing is the most common one when starting to use CDLC... but from your description everything should work fine... You did try multiple CDLCs, correct? Because there are some (very few) that just don't work. You also read this tutorial, right? http://customsforge.com/topic/901-how-to-use-custom-dlcs-in-rs2014/ Have you tried the different dll-files under "PC alternative 1" (and the updated version of 1) and "2"?
  7. I think I know exactly how you feel! I, too, realized that I wasn't able to play stuff on my very own that I felt comfortable with inside Rocksmith. But I came to some sort of explanation to comfort me: There are a lot of steps in between practising a song for the first time and beeing able to rock it on your own like a guitar god: You have to learn all the techniques, the hand and finger positions You have to build up your speed You have to memorize the whole song You have to keep up the tempo / beat when you play on your own You have to not only hit the notes right, but also give it the right "sound"...maybe even more steps... If you were to learn without Rocksmith, I think you would have to master all 5 steps until you feel confident about a song. Now the difference is that Rocksmith gives you a rewarding learning experience after every step, because it shows you your progress. But in the way Rocksmith works currently, you are kind of "stuck" after step 3. You may be able to play a song with 110% Mastery Level and nail it completely, but you still lack some steps to play it on your own. The point is that there is no progression / feedback inside Rocksmith for steps 4 and 5. So this is where you have to continue on your own and practise, instead of thinking you are done learing the song and then being frustrated in the "real world". But if you were to learn without Rocksmith, it would have probably taken much longer to even reach that point :) This is a great place for another advertisement of mine: The Metronome Bonus Arrangements! With Metronome Bonus Arrangements, I am confident that you can master steps 4 and 5 inside Rocksmith, too. This tutorial will show you how to add an automatically generated metronome sound to any CDLC of your choice. It works really fast and enables you to play a song completely solo. Mute the original music, play only with the metronome and find out how good you really sound! Having a metronome acompany you throughout the song (instead of silence) enables you to keep up the tempo (4.), even if you make mistakes. Without background music or a metronome I notice that I "stumble" if I make mistakes and thus loose the tempo. Having a metronome helps you to keep going. And not having the original music (even if you lower the volume) cover your mistakes, but instead muting it completely will show you if you make the right "sound" (5.) See my signature for more links ;-) There are not yet many CLDCs with this feature and it doesn't work perfectly with all of them, because a lot of charters screw up the sync of the bars (see the tutorial), but I hope this can get some more attention! If a charting is done properly it's a work of a couple of seconds: ticking a box in the Toolkit - and it's free and brings Rocksmith to a whole new level!
  8. If you live in a country where lots of music videos on youtube are blocked (e.g. Germany), then that can be a reason as well.
  9. I cannot participate this week, sadly. But it's due to being on holidays, so I can't really complain :D
  10. Now that DD works with Alex's automated metronome arrangements, I have edited the tutorial accordingly!
  11. Just for the record: Do you know about Steam Big Picture mode? If you plug your laptop into your TV and Soundsystem, add a controller and switch to Big Picture mode, you can have the complete "console-like" experience on your couch. Exept it is better than the console, because it's a PC. Big Picture is the small "controller"-symbol in the top right corner of the steam window ;)
  12. @ thanks for you detailed answer. I was merely pointing out what (under my impression) the outcome of every other discussion about this topic has been in the past months. You are right: It is of course possible to include the kind of system you are proposing... but to be honest it seems like a lot of work for the developers. I think the question is: Is it worth the effort? As I mentioned in my first post, there are lots of other places to look for new music (and you mentioned last.fm). Personally, I would prefer not to spend hundreds of dollars and development hours for such a system, when it already exists elsewhere. Of course I would not complain if the devs here said that it is not hard after all and they want to implement it ;-) But I think there are other things to improve that should have a higher priority.
  13. You should note this idea in the Official Rocksmith Feedback Thread: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/439984-Rocksmith-2014-Official-Gameplay-Feedback-Thread?s=131691174b18b6d4cf5b210c7db6c1e1 I have seen posts of Devs in there, writing that they are indeed collecting the feedback and ideas... Also: Welcome to Customsforge :) But please be a little bit more careful with your next posts, this is like the worst sub-forum on here to post your kind of question: "This discussion is for the game & DLC, please do not talk about customs or modifications here"
  14. I should probably just STFU, too, but I cannot resist to suggest you simply plug your PC into "the big screen"... I'm sorry
  15. This has been discussed looooots of times before! Bottom line: Genres cannot be defined in a precise way and they even depend on personal taste. Thus it is not possible to include them in the search in any overall useful way. I suggest you use you use other features on the internet (or the "real world") to get to know new bands ;-) Also: Check out the Customsforge Championship! There you will find new songs for your difficulty level ;-)
  16. About playlists, be sure to read this tutorial by cozy: Tutorial #6 - How to Make CDLC Playlists - My CDLC Song Folder Is Overflowing It works with multiple profiles (per playlist) and a batch file for copying the selected playlist CDLCs into the right folder.
  17. Merry Christmas everyone ;) Intermediate Lead: 97.82 % http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=362114600 Took me a while to figure out there are mutes hidden in the chords... they were always killing my streaks Advanced Rhyhtm: 96.31 % http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=362114509
  18. Is it a matter of server load or something? I, too, have really accustomed to the autosearch feature. It is faster in general, because you don't have to type the whole word. It makes you realize typos much faster, too :)
  19. My "Collection" seems to contain the whole list of songs I have "Followed" in the past - so that is perfectly fine. But the "prefered artists" don't contain the favourites from the old site, so that's something they could improve :)
  20. First of all, thank to the whole team for the awesome work on ignition. It looks really nice! But to be honest until now it only looks like a visual update... exept for the "song preview window" there are no new features... or am I missing something? Here are some ideas for actual new features: --- What I would like to see is a special filter (maybe even a whole column with a special icon - since we can freely switch columns off if we don't like them) for CDLC that contain multitracks. Charters who do this put in lots of extra effort to bring Rocksmith to a whole new level, so it deserves more attention. I think lots of people don't even know about it - and I have read that those charters complain about the low amounts of downloads on their multitrack versions. I am aware that I can find most of those CDLC by searching for "multitrack". But I don't like it when the song title field is cluttered with additional information like "XYZ's version", "awesome 3000!" or for that matter "+ multitracks". Futhermore, some charters may write "multi-tracks" and then I don't find them easily. Of course this would require to update the possible fields on the record page, but I think it would be worth it! And if you agree to all this, it would not be too much effort to do the same thing with "Metronome Bonus Arrangements". Of course even less people know about that and/or find it useful... but well, I would love it :) Bottomline: One new column "Special Features" with icons for "Multitracks", "Metronome Bonus Arrangements" and whatever else the future may bring, with those features beeing selectable in the "filter". This requires new tick-box-fields in the song entry page. PS: Most Metronome songs can currently be found with the following search: http://customsforge.com/tags/ccs/Metronome%2BBonus%2BArrangement/?search_app_filters[ccs][searchInKey]=database_3 ---- About the collections: Do I understand correctly that we will get notified about updates in our "Collection", since it is the same as hitting "Follow" on the record page? While it is great that songs are added to your collection when you download via "+" on the left, the same should now be true for the "Download"-Button on the search overlay, as well as the download button on the (classic) record page. I have several hundred downloads on each of my customs, but only 3 or 4 subsribers on each of them (and this includes me). I can only assume that basically none of my downloaders do find out about my updates at the moment, because they don't understand / care about the follow feature. People should be forced to follow, unless they actively deny that. Bottomline: Auto-Follow (add to collection) on every available download button / link. Choice "crtl + click" for download only on every button as well. And: Auto-Follow your own posted customs!(!!) (please! it's just a no-go when charters don't even receive the messages on their own songs.) --- Have a setting that allows us to control whether we want to get notifications for both updates AND comments on the songs in our collection, or ONLY update notifications. --- Reduced width of columns "version", "added" and "updated": I think the table looks much cleaner without linebreaks, but of course often you cannot read the whole song title now. The columns named above could be made less wide, in order to free up some pixels for "artist" and "title" --- Please reduce the width of the rows by a tiny bit: On my 1920 x 1080 display I am able to display 25 search entries at once in the old search - this means I can look at all the search results without having to scroll down. In Ignition, I can only see 22 search entries, so I have to scroll. This may seem weird, but the necessity to scroll makes me prefer the old version at the moment.* * The dark theme is the other main reason why I avoid ignition, I realized. --- Please make a white theme available, too. --- Extended notification feature: It would be great to be able to select artists, albums and charters to a list of favourites. Then I want to receive a notification if a new CDLC is added with any of those criteria. This way I could e.g. directly follow a charter who's work I appreciate. --- Please add the autosearch feature (searching while typing into the search field, without having to press enter) that was included in the old search. --- Add a "Thanks" button to the "hovering song preview window". This gives actual credit to the charters and might help reduce the number of "Thank you" posts in the entry. It is frustrating to be informed about a new post in a song in my collection, only to find someone posted those two words instead of something meaningful. --- The comment section in the "hovering song preview window" needs some improvements: - Time stamps - show quotes properly (when people quote each other, currently it gets really confusing) --- Ignition "feels" slower in terms of loading times. Maybe the loading time in both versions is the same, but since it's always darkening and popping up the loading circle for about one second, this second disrupts my view and makes it feel reacting slowly. In the old search it's a seamless transition between two pages. Just get rid of the dark loading animation! -- Again, thanks for the awesome work! I hope you find my suggestions useful :)
  21. For more info about how that works and what creative stuff you can do with the automated ticks, I suggest you risk a look at this tutorial of mine! Cheers
  22. Awesome! Even the current short version is a very detailed guide, seems easy enough to follow. I'll post some pics too and what hardware I used, if I am succesful :)
  23. As far as I'm aware, the "missing count phrase" error comes up when your first beat contains a note. This would be the case if you just imported from gp5 and didn't add any beats into your leading silence. In a 4/4 time signature, you should then hit "push offset back" exactly four times. It should look like this: Then you get a whole bar (or measure) where you can place the metronome count-in ticks (with shift + e), because this is now your COUNT phrase. This way you get to official DLC quality in that regard - therefore the error you encountered is a good one :) Does that work for you?
  24. Also: Send the original charter a message and ask them to add the leading silence. Having useful leading silence should be a "must have" for all CDLC.
