  1. So it's actually even easier to see if there are tech notes present, nice one :D
  2. Do yourself a favour and buy Cherub Rock, it'll save you hours and hours in the long run. It does sound like the problem might be something else though, so be sure to read the tutorial that a.peter linked above :D
  3. The (*) just means that it is populated i.e. there are notes in it. The (*) in the main window bar at the top defines the same, which is handy when moving between normal view and tech view - you can easily see if any tech notes are present. Edit - oops I looked at your screen full size and I dunno. I see now the (*), I thought you were on about the *
  4. I prefer Google Drive as - if you have a Youtube account then you already have a Google Drive account (dunno why, all that G+ accounts "One Account for All" confuses me), so go to Google Drive and log in using your Youtube username/password - you do not need to install anything (like dropbox), you can upload and manage your account from your browser. Of course, you can install the app if you want but it is not necessary to share files - you get 15GB free space on Google Drive, I only got 2GB on dropbox. I heard stories of people getting 10GB on dropbox, but I do not know the rules to get that, I certainly only got 2GB and I filled it up :D
  5. You may also want a read of this http://customsforge.com/topic/17235-cant-adust-tone-volume/
  6. Wwise defaults to quality 4, which is 128kps (stereo) so I would suggest using that if you've always just used default in Wwise before. I like using quality 9, which is the equivalent of 320kbps (stereo). The auto conversion will be a script (correct me if I'm wrong Alex :D) that uses Wwise, so you'll still need it installed. Cozy made I think, check out his automatic MIDI to RS14 custom thread. And @SmellyOrc, my pc opens those boxes instantly. Never had any trouble like that, but I do not auto update the toolkit and I can't remember which version I'm on.
  7. Yeah, poor quality audio and/or off pitch tuning usually gets a swift hit of the esc button here too :) I hate tuning my strat for slight adjustements (spring bridge needs to balance so out it takes a few goes on the pegs), but I hate off pitch songs even more. If you need help changing tuning just start up a thread in the toolkit section and I'll help out of no-one gets there before me.
  8. Or you could just de-monetize your Youtube account? I dunno what happens in your country, but I just unticked the "monetize" box in my profile and I can basically upload anything, even Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. Then the copyright holders get advertising cash, instead of me. The rules do depend on the specific content and the specific country though, I think.
  9. With the newer toolkit its as easy as pie to change tuning yourself, like literally 2 mins. What takes longer is finding that funky tuning...
  10. When I make customs, one of the things that has consistently worked fine for a long time is adjusting tone volumes. I build it with a tone volume, test it, build it again, test it etc etc. In between builds I erase the version from my dlc folder and I also MANUALLY erase the one from my project folder i.e. DO NOT let the toolkit overwrite the old .psarc with the new one. I had trouble with it a few toolkit versions ago and I got into a certain habit, I dunno if it has since been addressed in the toolkit (sounds like its still an issue tbh, or you are using an old toolkit?). Also, its worth noting that the scales are a bit funny and opposite Song volume - the closer to zero the louder it is Tone volume - the further from zero the louder it is Have fun :D
  11. Glad to hear it man :D Tones are pretty easy, just find one you like in another custom and you can import it straight into your custom when you are building it in the toolkit. Hit the import button at the tones section and navigate to where your customs are, and just click directly on the custom. Or if you wanna make your own tones http://customsforge.com/topic/2027-tone-creation-process-for-rocksmith-2014/ You'll still need to mess with volume levels, but I presume you saved the toolkit template? You can build it now as many times as you want, adjusting the tones volume until you get it right. Just mind and erase the old versions from your game before putting the new ones in. Have fun man, and don't get too addicted now :D
  12. The beat map is the white grid. You can grab the white lines at the top of the grid and stretch it about so that it fits over the actual music, as most music is not bang on tempo for the entire duraiton of the song. Don't get me wrong, a lot of music is recorded to a strict click and this would be perfect identical white rectangles all the way through the song, but most music has a human element (ahem, less than perfect timing, speeding up into choruses, slower breakdown sections in the song etc etc). This would be where you would stretch the rectangles about to fit on the music, so that the gems are playing when the notes actually occur in the song. What I do is (basically) - Start EoF project - Import tabs - Drag the beat mark (white line) with the first gems (coloured notes) to where it starts in the song - it is worth noting that the very first (leftmost) beat marker will behave differently to the rest. Moving this will result in the entire grid moving. This is not a problem and in fact very helpful. It really depends on the GP file you are using and whether the author used blank bars or not. - Set the tempo (Change BPM, and tick the "Adjust notes" box) according to the GP file. Again, don't take what the GP file says as Gospel, more like a guide. If the GP file says 78bpm and you think 80bpm is better, go with your instinct. - Now the beat map should more or less be fitting nicely on the music, and you are just making slight adjustments (by grabbing the white line at the top of the grid) so that the gems are where the notes are being played in the song. - This is where experience/confidence kicks in. Some GP files are a fkn mess tbh, so if it looks like a mess it probably is. Maybe just try a different song and come back to that later. Getting one song under your belt is a big milestone, make it easy on yourself :D - Go through the song from left to right, making the slight adjustments needed to the beat map. - Once it done, save it and you can mess around with the gems to your heart's content. If you began the project like I said then you can even erase all the notes and re-import the GP file. This is very useful sometimes. The beat map is really the priority. Once its done you can worry about fixing dodgy tabs. It's very useful to enable handclaps (press C for claps on/off) and enable the graph (F5). When going through the song, if its a decent tab, you can hear clearly that its on time and a good tab. Its also useful to use songs with very clear snare drum hits, this will be visible on the graph and also helps tremendeously with timing. The most useful command in custom making... Ctrl + Z... undo :D And also, never be afraid to ditch the lot and start from scratch. Beginning well is so important, and a restart can actually take a lot less time (get it right the second time) than fixing a dodgy sync manually. Good luck :D
  13. GP files are rarely perfect I'm afraid. Extra/too few bars are a very common problem. Part of the custom creation process is actually varifying/fixing tabs. I've never really used GoPlayAlong to sync so I don't know how easy it is to edit tabs in there. You can edit things in GP but I've never really went that deep into GP either. I find editing tabs in EoF to be the simplest route. Once you have your beat map made it's usually just copy/paste. Most music (modern pop/rock) is centered on repitition anyway, so you can copy the notes from one part of the song and paste it into where they are missing. It's a bit daunting at first, but you will gain some confidence the more you try it. Go for it man, whats the worst that could happen :D
  14. I'd put the lag down to your LG. Different dacs (systems, whatever) work differently. It may even be buffering the incoming signal, which would cause a slight delay. Also, if you have processing switched on (like bass boost/synthetic surround sound) that can add a processing delay too. I can hook my pc up to my amp with a line output or to my dac via the optical out of the motherboard. I find a slight delay using the digital out too. I hooked my pc up to my mate's Audiolab cd player/dac, and it had horrendeous lag. For watching movies and playing some games a little lag is fine (and you would never notice), but for Rocksmith where milliseconds are critical I'd stick to an analogue connection to external equipment. Disclaimer - this is my personal opininion and I and I am well aware that a LOT of people will be perfectly happy using offboard dacs/usb dacs etc. Latency is a completely personal tolerance and obviously the poster is having trouble or he would not have posted - just trying to offer some advice :D So the advice would be to try the game using a pair of headphones plugged straight into your pc. If the lag dissapears then it does seem to be the LG causing it.
  15. You used the wrong audio file in Wwise. Use the .wav that EoF created to convert to .wem
  16. If you want Looney's stuff use the link in his sig, that one works fine. (Go to one of the song pages, in the first post in his signature there will be a link). Have fun now :D
  17. Try my way man, it's worked for me more than once. I dunno why but it does.
  18. I've had some issues with tone changes if I've made test builds and then tried to change the position of tone changes. I'm sure the game remembers the tone changes because of the arrangment numbers. So have you had those arrangement numbers in game before? Rather than messing about I normally just bite the bullet and - Delete all tone changes in the arrangment (in EoF) - Make EoF do a save - Add the tones changes in again - Make EoF save again - Build it with fresh arrangment numbers and change the DLCName I've scratched my head over this many times, that's what I do to get it working again...
  19. Website is offlineNo cached version of this page is available. Error 502 Ray ID: 1bff6de007da0b7b Bad gateway I get this, admittedly at busy times. I thought the place was making enough in donations to avoid this? I posted cause I'm miffed that I typed out an entire record only to hit submit and get it (again). I realise that you asked for problems to be handled by PM, but I'm interested to see how common this is?
  20. My mate used to (and still does) do it by ear, so quickly and accurately it was a wonder to behold. When I make customs with "fine tuning" it's just trial and error. I build it as (for example) A435, test it, build it as A434, test it, build it as... you get the picture.
  21. It's not possible because there is no field for "year of release" when submitting entries to the database. It would take a power of work to backtrack on 10,000 records and investigate year of release, so I think you will need to just find alternate ways of searching. Certain charters will stick to certain bands/types of music, so if you come across something you like just search by that charter. Chances are you will music from the same era. I've done a fair amount of 70s stuff, and I know that Aludog and GetTheLedOut have done a lot of older stuff too. Have fun :D
  22. Have a read of this http://customsforge.com/topic/15687-beats-phrases-resynchronizer/ I've never used it but it seems to be able to manipulate sections/phrases. Good luck :D
  23. I've never tried it but what about an unpitched slide with vibrato or tremolo? Might look quite nice in the chart, if it works at all.
  24. I've not tried Bandfuse but I've watched a few vids on youtube. I just cba with the learning curve of learning a new visual tab layout, it's horizontal as oppossed to vertical (in simplistic terms). I've invested so much time in Rocksmith I've learned to sight read quite efficiently. I think it would be like moving from mouse + keys for shooter to playing cod with a pad :D I know some people are excellent with a pad at shooters, but it's just so frustrating knowing what should be done without the muscle memory to apply it. I would imagine that me trying to play Bandfuse would be a similar result. Just having a little chuckle :D
