I'll be damned, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, something grandpa actually won't bitch about me playing lol
  2. When the tuner pops up when you start a song, there should be a recalibrate option. I tried the tuner on the main menu without the option appearing there.
  3. I'd use a large coin as a pick, hell, I've been known to use a few credit cards stacked on each other as a pick lol. This sucker is pretty sturdy, 4mm thick.
  4. Just wanted to share this. http://s24.postimg.org/gemquysfl/20160321_160038.jpg
  5. As a former stoner, I can assure getting baked won't help you at all, it slowed me down massively. I personally prefer to play standing because it's more comfortable for me, and I'll be standing on stage when I get my band together. If your back is getting sore, you probably need to adjust your strap or posture. If it's still a problem after that, look into a lighter instrument. I mostly play metal in low tunings, so I tend to stick with heavier instruments that can handle larger strings. As far as keeping motivated, I play songs that I like. I also switch to a different song if one starts getting me frustrated, then when I come back to it later, I usually do better on it. I also try to jump out of my comfort zone every couple songs to help build the skills that will help me with the songs I really like. I generally play in 1 to 3 hour groups multiple times a day so I can still take a break and get the other things I gotta do away from my bass done.
  6. I haven't done any of the exercises yet, but I would assume judging by the name and description that it targets specific techniques found in particular styles of music. In the case of this week, blues.
  7. Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Hell yes. Longer answer: The championships are meant to help everyone push each other to develop our skills and get us out of our comfort zones.
  8. This week's Da Capo is one I've been playing for a while now :) http://s18.postimg.org/5sr5sytvd/20160320113821_1.jpg
  9. Not bad for the third attempt :)http://s7.postimg.org/xkchijf2j/20160319175918_1.jpg
  10. I have to ask, how did you accomplish breaking all 7 of them at the same time?
  11. I was just wondering if it might be possible to mod RS so that rather than sending a colored block down the note highway, if it could send the colored note name? I think this would go a long way in making RS a true learning tool since you'd subconciously be learning the names of the notes and associating them with their positions on the fretboard, and how they interact with eachother.
  12. Just noticed a typo on the spreadsheet, I don't think it's possible to score 13,332,627 on this one :P
  13. Just reposting this because I just saw my bass entry hasn't been updated, and my lead entry isn't on the list.
  14. I've got a few that I found in our database that need an overhaul on their tones, some are just down right awful. These are all by Lordi and need tones for Lead and Bass. 15. I just wanted to suggest a new feature if it's possible to implement: The ability to cut selected song parts out of the project. Right now I'm working on a breakdown of Les Miserables, and it would be a MASSIVE time saver if the lenth of the song could be altered. Basically what I'm having to do is use Reaper to breakdown the original mp3 into the individual songs to be edited in EOF, then I'll have to copy/paste the notes from the original EOF file to the new one, then have to go through and get the notes synced properly. As you can see, this is going to to take a long time to accomplish. If the audio could be cut in EOF, this project that will take months of work could easily be reduced to hours.
  16. As long as I'm not in a high stress situation I'm stable. Get a bunch of people breathing down my neck, get ready for a fight to be instigated. I'm generally the kind that when I do snap, I want to cause pain, not kill, just a lot of pain. When comes to weapons when I snap, a knife is what you want to be watching for. I also had gun safety drilled into me ever since I can remember, and gun rights are important to me, so I excersise caution with them. I've only ever actually used my gun once, and that was when a drug dealer tried to rip me off. From what I hear he's still hustlin', but his right shoulder doesn't work well anymore. I've been out of that scene for a while now, 3 years sober last month. That was a very interesting day though, ended up deaf for about a week, blew the passenger side window out of my truck, 2 of 3 rounds hit as he was running away. Never hid a gun and ditched casings so fast in my life. Ended up getting my money and the bud back since I was apparently the only person he knew that knows how to remove a bullet and stitch a wound. I used to make bat shit crazy look like a cuddly kitten back then lol. If you're ever in the area, talk to my old high school teachers, someone who knew me in my early 20's, one of the orderly's at the state mental hospital, and someone that knows me now and try to guess how many personality changes I've gone through. One thing is for sure, my life has never been boring lol.
  17. Just had to share this, next time any of y'all need new strings, try out the new Cleartones. I just got a set of Cleartone 50's on my bass and it sounds amazing! Even at low tunings there's no rattle or dropped notes :D I've tried several brands in the past, including D'Darrio and Earnie Ball of various sizes, and these blow them all out of the water!
  18. Lol, I have 2 amps, a Spider 3 30w for my guitar, and a Kustom K100 for my bass. I've had the neighbors almost a block away show up with the cops once or twice hehehe Neither of our hearing is very great, he used to be a gunsmith, and after he taught me what he knew about firearms up through WW1, I got pro training for the modern stuff. Basically, we spent a lot of years shooting shit, and every now and then we blew something up :D Unfortunately I can't get a Class 3 license to run a shop until I'm off probation. Once I get some $$$$ saved up though, I do plan to talk to my PO about having ownership of a shop in my mom's name and work as an employee. There's a lot of loopholes and grey areas legally that have to be sorted out to make that happen though. One example is that while I'm allowed to own firearms, I'm not allowed to buy them or more ammo than my current stockpile (which is considerable). However, the ATF doesn't recognise firearms produced before 189? (gonna have to look up the exact year again), so you can actually buy them without registering them, and have them shipped through the mail. You can also build firearms and not have to put a serial number on them, or report them to the ATF as long as you don't intend to sell them.
  19. It's deffered, that's what takes it off my record. If it wasn't then it would stay. The way the judge explained it, I'm not convicted unless I breach the terms of my probation. This is why I'm still allowed to vote and own firearms even though I've been charged with a felony.
  20. He thinks it's a waste of time. He also has Alzheimers which is part of the problem, he just gives me a hard time in general and caught me at a bad time. He's 83, I'm 28, and he has the mindset that everyone should do everything exactly the way he does. About an hour before this he had been bitching hard about me not having a "real job" (I'm disabled btw), despite that I handle everything involved in keeping our house and property in order since he and my grandmother aren't able to do a lot of it now. I'm wanting to turn music into my proffesion since I can't physically do most manual labor jobs due to a knee injury I got when I was in highschool, and I can't work a high stress job due to my dissability (My disability, depressive bi-polar, can easily cause me to "snap" once I hit a certain point, or when particular triggers are hit. Meds only go so far.), and white collar work is out since I'm on probation for a felony (I snapped, it'll be taken off my record when I finish my probation though, 9.5 more years to go....). This assuming I even had transportation to begin with. I live in a small town where 95% of the jobs are pretty much entry level retail and fast food.
  21. I recently downloaded some CDLCs that, while the charts are correct, the tuning and effects are way, way off or just downright terrible. I can modify this easily, but should I upload them and place a report on the origional database entry, or should I add a download link as a comment in the original entry with a description as to why I put it there? I also have a LOT of CDLC that I'm adding DD to, and I was wondering if I should just put a download link in my workshop post or reupload. I'll be giving credit to the original charter either way since they did the real work. I know y'all are working on weeding out the unnecessary entries, and I don't want to make that harder on you.
  22. My Grandpa had the bright idea to tell me that I spend too much time with my bass, and that I should do something else with my time. He quickly regreted it lol. You may want to have any pets leave the room before you hit play. I tried putting this on Youtube, but the copyright bs blocked the audio. http://sendvid.com/ha3sx6gz
  23. I'll jump in on intermediate! Edit: Got my 100% :) http://s21.postimg.org/8ohhb01dj/IMG_20160314_165728.jpg image hosting 20mb WTH, I'll jump in on begginner lead while I'm at it! http://s9.postimg.org/9vkt7js3j/IMG_20160314_230524.jpg how to screenshot on windows 7
  24. I try to supplement RS with music theory, scales, and jamming. Jamming with others is a great way to learn because they can help you improve on your weak points and give you new ideas for your own music. I recently had the opportunity to jam with a man named Ric Flauding, who you Megadeth fans may recognise as one of the guys who helped reteach Dave Mustaine how to play the guitar after his nerve injury. I usually ask him most of my questions since he works at the local college now. He does a lot of work doing arrangements and compositions for jazz bands for the college, as well as being an instructor. My main problem is memory. As long as I can see the tabs and hear the drummer I'm good, but as soon as those tabs are gone I'm lost. I'm hoping this becomes less of an issue as my ear gets trained better and I get a better feel of where which notes are and how they relate to one another. Something I really wish they would do on RS instead of having the colored block come towards you is have the colored note come at you.
