For anybody running Rocksmith on a recent Mac. Be aware that recent update to latest macOS 15.4 breaks the Rocksmith.

Rocksmith will crash on start, and it seems currently no fix is available. Repair or reinstall is not helping. Considering it is out of support, and has been replaced with cut down no dlc Rocksmith Learn and Play just recently, this is potentially permanent situation and may lock you out of all your dlc cdlc forever on recent Macs.

Really bad, as the steams drops support on older macOS versions as well, so I just recently switched to newer Mac because the old one was dropped from Steam support.

I have just tried with tart and mac os sonoma, with a clean install of rocksmith, and had the same problem

Tart is a virtual machine?

I pulled my old mid 2012 Macbook Pro out of the drawer, used openCore to set up 15.3 on it and et voila I have a running RS again. Was surprised, how well Rocksmith actually runs on this old hardware / new software combo.

Only performance issues are that system start up takes long and the initial indexing of psarcs on RS startup is long as well. Exactly as I remember it was on this hardware with Catalina.

So if you have an old Mac unsupported you could try OpenCore with 15.3 on it.

Thank you for the warning. I just got a notification saying there is a Mac OS update to 15.4. I won't update for now. On a M1 Pro Macbook

Dammmm! Too late...

Is there no way of making it work? When I updated to the M3 pro, I had similar symptoms, but I finally got it working; sadly, I can't remember how.

I tried PC and it also failed the same way. Are you aware of any other option? Has anybody tried a virtual machine with a Mac OS < 15.4?

Well let's hope for a solution and post here is a solution will come up.

I for my self got old MacBook Pro out of drawer which was already out of official macOS updates and out of Steam support, used OpenCore to update it to macOS 15.3 and happily discovered that this combination runs perfectly fine.

The Rocksmith converter also isn't working after I updated to Seqioua 2 days ago.

Really regretting that update from my perfectly fine working Sonoma now 😞

Well RS Converter 2.3 runs fine for me on Sonoma 2.14 and was running fine on previous versions of Sonoma as well.

I mean if you can't run RS itself it is kind of pointless, but anyway it runs fine.

I see your point as Rocksmith is still broken, but I did get the RS Converter to work. I just had to drag the files from the downloads folder into the converter instead of straight from the web browser.

I've managed to run the windows version using porting kit. It is not flawless, as it doesn't run as smoothly as the Mac version, although it is running at 60fps, but it is a way of ensuring it'll run besides macos updates

I doubt the 15.4.1 update will make any difference to the crash but it was released yesterday.
the same crash occurs in the 15.5 beta so this is likely something Ubisoft will have to address

I opened a case with ubi support which will likely not lead to anything useful but I provided the crash report from macOS just the same

porting kit?  what is that?  is that something we could use?

It's a way of playing Windows games on a Mac. Install Windows Xdirect Steam, and then Rocksmith. Sadly, I haven't been able to run CDLC Enabler  yet, so only vanilla Rocksmith at the moment. It would be great if someone knew a way of manually enabling custom dlcs on Windows, without the need to run the CDLC Enabler software

You just get the DLL from the game-support channel in discord. It's that easy

In ichocobo's other thread I linked to Phantatsy's .dll post, ichocobo said that the .dll did not work for them and that the game wouldn't launch. I do not know if it is a game version / dll version mismatch or a Mac issue.

Yes, as @ Sniper Reload3d  noted, I've tried dropping the dll on the root folder of the game, but then the game fails to launch. Maybe the steam directx client is installing an older version of Rocksmith, and the dll doesn't work because of that. The build version is 16576867.

It's going to be an issue with how the game is running. There's no other mod than using the DLL, and if the setup you're using to try to play it on Mac is crashing with the DLL built for both versions isn't working, then sorry you're out of luck.

I'd hazard to guess since the DLL modifies running memory of the game you're not going to find luck the way you're attempting due to some sort of underlying Mac/Wine weirdness

Said much better than what I was attempting to say

That makes sense. At this point, it might be better to put my efforts into making the Mac version work.

Good luck. Ubi didn't bother trying to make the version they are still currently selling work for Mac. I'd probably just get a pretty cheap Windows PC to use instead

I've finally got it working using this DLL instead:

Haven't tried the true tone cable since I always play plugged to my axeFX instead, but I'll give it a try later to see if it works as expected
