Absolutely nothing wrong with experimenting, especially with a Printer. This is severely understating it, and I truly can't speak as I don't / haven't 3d printed, but basically (minus the hours print time and filament cost) if you mess up, or it doesn't work, just squirt another improvement whereas getting another $100+ chunk of wood and hours physical labor making a new wood body ....

Seriously, I am impressed and slightly jealous of both you and Lurker, good job. I am sure you will make improvements and more designs. A great advantage and opportunity with learning the CAD. I am so sure it will help you drastically.
