Been through the FAQ, but still having problems running CDLC

stig4020

Question

Hi,

I am having trouble using CDLC. I have followed the steps from the FAQ, and have downloaded the .dll file and have changed the App ID of CDLC files to an official DLC.

The problem I am having is that when I load up a CDLC song, the song menu does not disappear, or if I have to check the tuning of the guitar first, I can see only the amps in the background of the screen. The song does not play and the notes do not come up. When highlighted in the song list, the CDLC songs play a preview of the song.

Is anyone able to help me this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to Customsforge!

And thanks for both reading the FAQ and posting in the correct forum - a lot of people are not able to do that^^

The problem you are experiencing is the most common one when starting to use CDLC... but from your description everything should work fine...

You did try multiple CDLCs, correct? Because there are some (very few) that just don't work.

You also read this tutorial, right?

http://customsforge.com/topic/901-how-to-use-custom-dlcs-in-rs2014/

Have you tried the different dll-files under "PC alternative 1" (and the updated version of 1) and "2"?

Check out my easy tutorial on how to add a metronome to your CDLC: Mute the original music, play only with the metronome and find out how good you really sound! Also: Find CDLCs that have the metronome enabled!

Want a USB-Footswitch that you can use to control the tone selection and all the menus in Rocksmith? Check out Rodman's Tutorial and my additions to that!  Footswitch_Logo.png

My CDLCs: Devin Townsend - Life, Deep Peace, Ih-Ah!, Deadhead; Farin Urlaub - Ok

My ideas for new features in Ignition, e.g. filters for Multitrack CDLC and Metronome CDLC.

You only need to change the app id if your version of Rocksmith does NOT have Cherub Rock.  99% of customs work as Cherub Rock, so save yourself a lot of hassle and go buy the official dlc of Cherub if you don't already have it.

It's possible you changed the app ids to a song you don't own?

Did you place the .dll file in the Rocksmith2014 folder? It doesn't work if you place it in the dlc folder.

Ok, Try reinstalling rocksmith. Make sure all the files in the folder are gone (so that all the launcher stuff is gone, you can keep the dlc folder) and use this .dll https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/5ehzgh0s9xdbbfc/D3DX9_42.dll?dl=1&token_hash=AAGRCgJR0scSCHFFYW1NYnnSBtTgAR_HzKIFf6jvSZPohQ

Let me know if that works.

The problem you describe is actually quite common when making customs, the freezing highway.  With the newer, more sophisticated tools it does not happen as often but occassionally it still hangs at the amps.

A rebuild usually cures the problem, but if you're not making customs then we won't go into that.

Just to get a clearer picture

- How many customs have you tried?

- Does it happen with every one?

- Do official songs play fine?

- The customs that are hanging, are there comments in the songs thread to suggest others have succesfully played them?

- When you put the .dll into the root folder, did you erase the other one (you didn't tell it to keep two copies)?

The reinstall didnt work.

PC Plum, what is the other .dll file I need to delete? I just copied the downloaded .dll file to the root folder. Is there something I need to delete as well?

The problems happen on every CDLC, I've tried 5. Official songs and official DLC play fine. The comments are positive for these songs.

When you put the .dll into the root folder it should replace the exisitng one, so Windows will give you the choice of erasing the exisiting one or keeping 2 copies.

If you keep 2 copies it may be confusing the game.

If you have succesfully implanted the .dll, when you launch the game it should have a DOS console come up quickly (the black command prompt) before the game loads properly.

A little black window top left of the screen with a message about loading successfully.

My bad, you don't have to erase anything.  I've recently wiped my pc and got customs working again last night.  But I have to say it was as easy as installing the game and putting the .dll into the Rocksmith root folder.

Steam even saved all my scores (inlcuding scores on customs), profiles and tones...

I really can't fathom why you are having trouble, sorry.

The alternate .exe file might work, but since Steam doesn't launch concurrently with it, it doesn't link to my account with official DLC, and I can't connect to Steam in game to purchase DLC again. Any idea on how to launch the Rocksmith_patcher.exe file so that it is linked to Steam?

I already tried placing the link in my Steam game library.
