  1. Oh wow, I just got boombox not the long ago so I'm almost done with unlocks,, kewl. I usually try to complete a mission when I turn the game on, which would explain unlocks all the time, I never put the 2 together, I just thought it was random.
  2. I guess a single counts. The first record I bought was a 45 of Eagles, I know one of the songs was Johnny Come Lately and I think the other was Life In The Fast Lane. I was,, 10 maybe ? The first concert I went to was with my older sister, Def Leppard with Europe opening.
  3. ummm, a song ? Not so sure it was a SONG that made me want to play, my best friend down the street had a guitar and showed me the main riff for Smoke On The Water,, a few months later I bought a guitar and took a few lessons,, I want to say Purple Haze was the first SONG I wanted to learn,, I've never got past a very basic playing of that song. After that ,, Wasted Years by Iron Maiden,, and now the list goes on and on of songs I want to learn. And now that I'm charting some on the side , I tend to make songs I would like to learn.
  4. How about: 'Country', 'Rap', 'Pop', 'Rock', 'Metal', 'Hardcore', 'Classical', 'Jazz'.... etc. The basics. Nothing that simplified and in a 'dropbox' manner. You could even add 'Unknown' or 'None'This essentially already exists with the TAGS while creating the CDLC. I put the band name, then, southern metal, alternative metal, whatever, in there.
  5. Well, based purely on the file size. I would say, not very good. Lol.
  6. Ok,, well I experimented a bit. At the 4 quality conversion it is 64k per channel, which equals 128 for a bit rate. At the 8 quality setting it is 128k per channel. At 9 quality it is 160k per channel. The wave that's in the EoF file is 1400k, but was copied over at 256. So, common sense tells me that anything beyond an 8 quality setting is not going to make it any better,, just bigger. A song I used as a test when converted at 4 is 3.39 MB as a WEM, at quality setting 8 it is 6.54 MB and at quality setting of 9 it is 8.18 MB, which is nearly the same size as the MP3 I used for it, which was ripped at 320K. My conclusion, 8 should be the highest conversion quality setting needed, after that your just taking up space. Assuming that an Mp3 and a wem file are similar in quality at given bitrate. If 194k is considered near cd quality for an MP3 then once we get to 256 I should be pretty darn good. And since mine are ripped at 320k my source is slightly better than what it becomes during the initial import anyway. I hope this helps clear some of this up. I will be using a quality setting of 8 for my conversion from now on.
  7. Well, at this point my curiosity is peaked. So I will look into it further. If nothing else I will have solid info instead of the seat of my pants feeling that anything above a certain point is useless.
  8. Ok, we got off topic there and I think the point was lost. What I'm saying is, are we making a high quality conversion of a file that it of medium quality to begin with ? I will experiment with some different things and see what I find. For example, can I import into EoF directly from an audio cd, or just from an mp3. What settings are not just spinning our tires because it looks cool. I will mess with it and see. And if you can get a higher import setting on EoF for the next hotfix that would be great.
  9. Not saying it's huge. I just hear things when I'm listening to a disc burned with mp3 versus an audio CD. As far as quality drop CD vs mp3. Well, I look at it this way. If you rip an audio CD to mp3 then burn it back as an audio CD you will have room for 3 more songs on that disc, than you would if you had just copied the audio. But 98% of then time it doesn't matter. As I said I ripped all my cds at 320 then the few I bought online were at 256,, so I guess 256 is the standard. You can't upscale, the data is not there, that was my point.
  10. If you downgrade it from 320 to 256 during the EoF conversion, then you try to upscale it ( the file you convert with Wwise is the file you are saving in EoF. ) that would kind of be like recording a DVD to vhs and then burning a DVD from the vhs you just made. It doesn't regain the quality. That being said I'm not sure what quality an ogg file is as compared to an mp3 or even for sure what an ogg file is exactly. I just know that a wav file gets created and that's the one used for the Wwise conversion.
  11. I hadn't really thought about it for the Wwise conversion. I mean, sound wise the ones I have created sounded good but I guess I never tried to compare. Except for the few songs I have purchased online all my audio is at 320 for mp3, and I CAN hear the difference between that and what's on the CD. Mostly I notice wierd pops and squeaks on mp3. I will be listening in my car and I probably look like a curious dog when I hear those things. I guess I will try the higher Wwise setting.
  12. Just was I was going to suggest.
  13. Well, the on disc songs don't show up in the dlc folder so I wouldn't know where to begin. I haven't looked that hard. I can tell you Rocksmith doesn't care about subfolders in the dlc folder, you can put songs by band or genre in your dlc folder in subfolders and easily move them to your desktop or something to shorten your in game list.
  14. @@MVega not sure what a breakout box is. Yes I was specifically referring to a sound card vs onboard audio. I have not tried RS2014 on my laptop, but the performance questions have me curious. Laptops are not very good at gaming, unless you have one of those insanely priced ones. But they should be able to run Rocksmith. I will experiment on my days off with load percentages using my desktop to give an idea of what you really need to be able to play Rocksmith, I'm sure that just like every other game, graphics card is the big one.
  15. Sigh. This is purely system dependent. I have a 7 year old quad core overclocked to 3.8 ghz with a whopping 8 gb of ddr 2 ram running at 1066. My graphics card is an amd 7870 and my soundcard is an ancient creative fatality. I run everything MAXED and have no issues. And no, Rocksmith does not HAVE to use the onboard sound, seeing as how mine is disabled. ( kind of tired of hearing that untruth ) . Now, as far as laptops go, RS 2014 is mildly graphics heavy but not insanely, laptops get hot, that could be the major issue.
  16. I don't think so,, but you will receive notifications when someone comments on it. So if the charter also comments after the update then you would be notified. I usually do that, hopefully others do as well.
  17. And,, the theme from Peter Gunn. I learned it as a finger exercise 20 some odd years ago. Great for beginners. I will see if I can just chart it without the audio. And I'm not 100% but was the Peter Gunn theme used as the song for Spyhunter the video game?
  18. This is something another member and I are working on,, we will try to sort them by type,, I.E. classic distortion, metal distortion, Wah,, chorus, clean,, single coil blues,, but this will take some time. In the mean time,, if you are looking for a specific tone from in the game,, if it is a DLC / CDLC you can extract that songs tones using the toolkit by clicking import, in the tone area. You can also edit an on disc song tone and save it to a tone slot and then get it from your profile folder. But like I said,, we are working on it.
  19. Guilty, I did that one my first two customs, which I'm going back and redoing now that I know better.
  20. Generally speaking, if it's happening with CDLC, it is a .dll file issue. If the song just doesn't show up, it's an app id problem. If most CDLC are working but just that one won't, try repackaging it with the Rocksmith Toolkit. If THAT doesn't work, the song is broken. The last option is to try to update the app id for the song,, also done with the toolkit. I would just do app id and repack at the same time. Sometimes that will fix it, sometimes not. But it seems you have the .dll file wrong. Does the little debug window pop up before Rocksmith launches? If not that's the .dll file.
  21. I mean classic country, Brad Paisley should be easy to find GP tab for,, and yes he is a VERY good guitarist,, and actually his tone is friggin great too...
  22. You and me both. Talk about technique teaching songs. But again, GP tab,, I will have to look to see what I can find. As far as the tone I can just grab an acoustic tone from a dlc and tweak on the eq to help it,, maybe.
  23. Oddly I didn't even pay attention. Upon installing RS 2014, I guess I left it at default. I went back and checked how I had it set in RS1 after reading this thread, and I had it TAB style. I can switch back and forth. That is probably because my brain has associated the colors with said string and I really don't see where it is on the neck, top vs bottom. I'm working with tabs much more now and, don't have any issues going back and forth, but I will probably switch to TAB style just because.
  24. We just went over 4000 songs earlier today. 1000 CDLC in one month goal,,, achieved. You didn't read my comment :o We need 4074 because 74 are links to purchase the officials. Those don't count!Have faith young Jedi. That number doesn't include the ones we had to take down either, so technically we are probably past it already. I read your post, I just have more faith than you.
