  1. Interesting. My amp has a noise gate built in. It is my understanding it is right at the input,, so it is dead quiet when not playing. I don't have any experience with external gates so I'm curious. There is no pop or anything when I start playing. It just goes from dead quiet to HOLY SHIT, if I have the volume up. I'm wondering if putting the gate up front and putting all your effects in the loop would fix this. But Turtles image makes sense as well.
  2. Bar none Waylon Jennings Amanda is the easiest song. Especially for bass, But you will have to play full chords. Sorry folks,, only 3 chords and the lead is dead shit simple,, it's the easiest.
  3. You can sing in the game,, but it's pretty useless. And BTW pitched vocals are about useless as well,, I mean have you EVER sang karaoke. It may sound good but it's not exactly the same. Pitch less vocal for customs work fine for me.
  4. You have to own the original Rocksmith to use the RS 1 DLC. Supposedly this was going to be fixed but it wasn't. It's a glitch with Steam that won't allow you purchase content you can't use.,,,, As far as the MAC side, I'm not sure. But ,, bummer man.
  5. Also, If you use the report function, with an explanation any staff member can delete one for you.
  6. Does the DOS prompt come up when you launch Rocksmith ? And sometimes, ( I have no idea why ) reapplying the APP ID will fix them as well. If it's just one song,, reapply the ID to it. If it's all of them it's the dll file. But again,, does the DOS thing pop up ?
  7. I have an old X-48 rampage formula. It going on 8 years old in July. Still works like a champ. Overclocked ram cpu and GPU's. It's really not a big deal as long as you don't go crazy. Smaller box will cause heat issues but it can be managed with good air flow. I would need to know what cpu you intend to run to offer advice on the MoBo, just understand that quality isn't cheap. But building your own ystem is WAY cheaper. Tell me your budget and I would have a better idea where to start. And if you don't plan on overclocking, you certainly don't need an ROG MoBo,, .
  8. For now,, 4 . Ibanez Gio which will live in D Standard 11-56 strings. A Dean Evo which lives in E Standard or Drop D,, A Hohner G3T ( heavily modified including an EMG 89XR bridge pup and EMG SA X series mid and neck pups ) which I will be restringing and will live in Eb, And my new baby a Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid which will live in E Standard 10.5 gauge strings ( It is actually a pre-production guitar which is the only Black Cherry Red Hybrid I have seen ( Refer to word Prototype for further info ) ) Soon I intended to pass off the sub standard guitars,, but money is an issue.
  9. Uh, I wouldn't base my MoBo on it's audio ability. There are so many out there I wouldn't know where to begin. Rocksmith is just stereo,, so that opens the options wide open. I'm using an old Creative Fatality, and have no lag issues. My laptop is fine as well. What I mean by this is,, If you get a high quality MoBo to begin with the onboard audio will probably be MORE than enough. What they are referring to is Hot Boxes,, which don't work well with Rocksmith. I would base my MoBo selection around what I intend to do with it. CPU chipset,, will I overclock ?,,How many GPU's will I run ?,, RAM capacity and other features. I have always run Asus ROG series,, but it really comes down to budget and what are your goals.
  10. I built the GP for Waylon Jennings' Amanda from scratch, but that is a VERY simple song. I took a stab at Where Were You ( When The World Stopped Turning ) Alan Jackson,,, and there is ALOT more going there than just chords. I also have a great tab for East Bound and Down, but again, once I got into EoF,, ugh. Brad Paisley would be absolutely perfect for Rocksmith if UBI did some officials. People just don't realize what a great guitarist he is. We can always hope. When I was growing up, my dad played Bluegrass,, now THAT is a style I still can't play right. Here's to hoping UBI opens up the genres to country a little.
  11. We've had this talk before. GP tabs are the issue. Tabbing from scratch is a PITA, and that's why you don't see much country. If you had an official tab book you can always make the GP tabs yourself,, but be warned,, it is time consuming. Then you put it in EoF and find out that you have too many or not enough repeats,, go edit the GP tab,, do it again,, and again, until you get it right. Of course,, if we could get some officials,, that would be cool.
  12. I've noticed that too. I have a song at 95% and it says I haven't played it yet. No idea why,, but other than being a little irritating it doesn't hurt anything.
  13. Yes,, you should uninstall Rocksmith altogether and reinstall it. You only need the dll file in your Rocksmith main folder. Just copy it to your desktop then uninstall Rocksmith and delete the folder. Then reinstall it and put the dll file back in. That will be sure to get rid of the patcher stuff,, which you don't need. Also,, when modifying a song ID close Rocksmith out,, don't tab back and forth. If you DO make changes while tabbed go to the in game store to enumerate the song. But it's better to close out the game. Also,, you don't need to get rid of the toolkit. But you will need to reassign the app id on the song you are trying to make work. Unless you want to reassign the App ID almost every time it would be easier to buy Cherub Rock,, though sometimes an APP ID uhh redo is needed. I'm yet to have a song not work,, ever.
  14. Tips and tricks,,, well. A shit ton of practice is a tip. As far as warm up try the bass warm up exercise,, just emulate the guitar,, serves the same purpose. Songs,,, man. Do you remember ( Lead path ) Go With the Flow rhythm path. And Amanda for any of them but you need to play the chords. LEARN CHORDS. You are going to need them. Even if you want to play solos,, guess what ,, you have to play rhythm too. Also there have been some great chord CDLC learning tools uploaded recently. Try searching exercise, or you in the Ignition search. Also try guitar chords,,. How long,, that depends on your dedication level. If you play and hour a day with Rocksmith,, I can almost assure you will learn faster that you think you are. Also , do NOT be afraid of session mode. You basically play a scale shape,, but you can skip around, you don't have to just go up and down. Follow the Rocksmih recommends thing, it actually has a purpose. and do ALL of the lessons in game. even if you don't pass them, DO them. Speaking of that,, start out with the lessons, they will help you a lot. And you mention Metallica, well probably the easiest Metallica song to play is,,, In my opinion,, Sad But True, however, Am I Evil is just damn fun and will build your endurance up, fast as shit and long,, but simple. I figured that one out without using a tab.
  15. Perhaps this will help explain what I'm saying a bit. The video pretty much sums up what I'm seeing. By your pick grip being as choked up as it appears, It is creating a LOT of extra effort. Which could account for the weird thumb flicking thing you are describing. I'm not an instructor. But I broke both my wrists when I was 17 and figured out how to do things easier. Yes I still played guitar while wearing 2 casts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awiOWXyBTjA
  16. Also, when you update a song to a newer version,, it will not overwrite the old version. The file names are different I.E. V1 V2,, so on and so forth. So if you don't remove the old one it WILL cause a conflict. We call this the same name issue and there is NO fix. Hurt from NiN and Hurt from Johnny Cash cause this. It's a limitation of the game and so far this really can't be fixed. Make sure you only have the newer version in your DLC folder. If you DID delete the old one then change the APP ID and that will fix it.
  17. Re Apply the app id. For some reason,, even though it is the right one,, you sometimes need to redo it. You can do this with the Rocksmith Toolkit. Available here. http://www.rscustom.net/ . Also check this thread, the APP ID process is the the same. http://customsforge.com/topic/10000-song-not-showing-up-lets-fix-that/
  18. Well, looking at how you are holding your pick. It would appear that you kind of have to rotate your hand over in order to pick. Seems like that would be somewhat uncomfortable. And to be clear. The tip of my pick basically extends out where my fingertip would be if I were holding my finger straight. It's very relaxed and doesn't require much pressure. This is a perfect example of why I really wish we were in the same room . It would be much easier to explain.
  19. Ummm. And this is simply my take on this. Your grip is wrong. I point the tip of the pick towards the end of my index finger. Which allows for very subtle movement when strumming, muting,, and string skipping. I use my ring and pinky finger as anchor,, usually using the pickup as a reference point. Slide your hand up slightly to palm mute and I can roll into pinch harmonics with very little effort. Just a suggestion. You play well but there is a LOT of extra movement there when you're strumming. You are covering enough space for a full G and are only playing 3 strings. I realize that I do strum wide at parts but that was more of an emphasis thing.
  20. Downloading now. Going to take for ever, but it's coming.
  21. I really wish I knew a way. I do not understand how this keeps happening to people. I just installed Rocksmith on my laptop and literally copied my DLC folder from my desktop onto a Thumb drive. After the game finished installing I pasted my dlc folder in and told it no to all overwrites. My progress even on CDLC was saved. We still haven't figured out WHY the profile wipe happens, but you CAN copy your profile folder and if you lose your progress again just put it back in at your last save. Also have you tried running verify local cache integrity ? Your progress is obviously saved in the cloud if all my progress carried over.
  22. Glad to hear that. Order another one when you can so you always have a backup. And if the wires pulled out of that one,, I would make THAT one your backup.
  23. Oh I hate to say this,, but your cable may have crapped out. I haven't had that issue yet but it is a possibility. I bought 2 back when RS 1 first came out and they are both still good. But, I have heard of them failing. Either that or your output jack on your guitar. Do you have an amp you can test your jack with ?
