  1. Thanks very much, Mad Duck! Great info to have. Much appreciated. Yeah, and sorry about the Outro. I play that whole thing live all the time with friends, so when I had to Tab it all out myself, I just went and did the entire thing. hahaha...
  2. I am finishing up my very first CDLC, and I need some help with testing it. Mostly the Lead Guitar part, as I don't currently have a guitar here. If anyone is willing to help, it would be appreciated. Mostly I am concerned with the Mix levels, and the Tone I used. But any other constructive comments are welcomed as well. Thanks! :) There is very little guitar during the verses. It is mostly in the Intro, Choruses, Interlude, and Outro. The song does have a bass track as well, but I've been able to test that myself. I know I need to edit the bass parts early on in a couple of places, as the GP Tab I used was not totally accurate. I plan to do that shortly. But please feel free to play that too, and comment on it as well. ;) The Beatles - Hey Bulldog Both tracks do have generated DD on them, so comments on that, and how RR works for you when playing the file, are also welcomed! Thanks!! :)
  3. Hello everyone, like many, I'll use this thread to post beta versions of RS2014 CDLC for Testing to be sure they are working, and ready to be added to the database here at The Forge. I'll also use this thread to announce songs as I am working on them. CDLC's that are working to the best of my knowledge The Beatles - Hey Bulldog
  4. I'd choose Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull. It's 40 minutes long. At least my last song wouldn't be over quickly. hehe... :)
  5. Thanks! I actually managed to put one together. I need to clean it up, and tab out a few things. And play around with the DD, and find some tones I can use, but it wasn't too bad. And was fun to play it in game! haha...
  6. My initial attempt tonight actually worked. I played it in game, and was shocked it worked. haha... Now I just need to clean it up a bit, fix some of the tab I imported, and tab out the Outro myself. I'll probably play around with DD a bit too, just to keep my education going. And make sure that the RR works the way I want it to. But overall it was fun to screw around with. The hard part now is tomorrow, trying to clean it up. Hopefully I won't just sit there and play it in the game all day. haha... But with any luck, maybe I'll have something to upload here in another day or three. Thanks to all for their help! Especially Deratio, who was almost always there with an answer to my questions in the Chat! hehe :)
  7.   That's basically how I've learned songs for the past several years using Seventh String's Transcribe software. Just slow the song down, and figure it out. So when I started playing RS2014, and discovered the RR, and how it works, it's what I started doing. Just opening a song, immediately going into the RR, and start learning it at 100%, but slower. It works well for me. :)
  8. I've only had RS & RS2014 since Christmas, but here's my current approximate breakdown in respects to the Bass. When I start using a Guitar with RS2014 I'm sure most of these percentages will change. Except maybe Session, I do enjoy just jamming in there sometimes. hehe... Learn a Song - 70% Session - 20% Score Attack - 5% Lessons - 3% Guitarcade - 2%
  9. I've used Seventh Sytrings Transcribe! for years now to learn new songs. It's a fantastic little piece of software. Similar in many ways to the Riff Station software posted earlier. It can detect notes and chords, change tempo withpout changing pitch, or change pitch without changing tempo. It can also render new versions of the songs that include whatever tempo and/or pitch changes you've made, very handy when you play live with people who always play a half-step down, etc... For many years I used this software everyday as part of my practice schedule, and still use it at least a few times a week today. http://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html
  10. I'm new to all of this too. Just discovered it all in the last day or so. But I think I've determined that the m.psarc files are Mac versions, and the p.psarc are PC versions. ;)
  11. Thanks for those tips, Deratio! I've sort of run into some of that already, and figured out what I did wrong. But it's good to see some conformation of that. My biggest problem is the song I chose is pretty easy, but it doesn't start on 1. I'm gonna try a different song today that I know starts on 1, and see how that one goes. Once I can learn this all a bit better, perhaps I'll go back to the one I already tried. But I'm about to listen to a lot of songs to choose another to try. haha... :)
  12. Some great, classic tunes there. Thanks Deratio!
  13. I've never created one yet, but I am currently trying to learn how. It seems to me with what liittle I've tried to do with it, that the hardest part of creating them is getting the Tempo synched between the song file itself, and the tempo settings in EoF. Once you can get it to that point, the rest does not seem as daunting to me. Sure, editing all the details of the individual notes for each track after the synch is completed is almost certainly not very easy, and I am sure takes a fair bit of time and work. But getting the tempo synched correctly seems to me, at least at this very early stage of figuring this stuff out, to be the most difficult part of this. But then again, I am a complete beginner at creating CDLC, so I am probably wrong. hahaha...
  14. I'm new to this CDLC stuff, but I'd like to take a stab at learning to create them. Tull is definitely a band whose music I am very familiar with, and would probably take a stab at creating something by them. Of course after I do an easier one by someone else first. hahah... :D Having said that, I am interested to follow your progress on the Tull songs you attempt. Best of luck with it!!
  15. I play bass, but have always used picks a lot. My favorite picks are the Everly Star Picks. The purple 1.14mm tortex is my go to. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/Pruitt/Music/EverlyPicks.jpg I also often use a Wedgie Rubber pick, when I want a softer attack when using a pick. I use both the 5.0mm, and 3.1mm Hard rubber picks. The Soft ones sound good, but don't last very long on roundwound bass strings. They get ripped apart pretty fast. But the Hard's last a long time, so I only use those these days. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/Pruitt/417vegh4vML.jpg
  16. My primary bass for the last 8 years has been a 6 string. Prior to that it had been a Music Man Stingray I bought new back in '79, which I still own. But I always wanted to try to play a 6, so I started with an Ibanez SR506, but now only play that mostly when practicing, as it hangs in my usual practice room near my PC. But my main player for the last several years is an Ibanez Prestige SR1006 EBG that I bought new. I absolutely love the tones in this bass. It's my favorite sounding bass that I've played in the over 30 years that I've been playing. I mostly only play it out of the house when playing with others, but occasionally I use it when practicing too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/Pruitt/Music/P7210159.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/Pruitt/Music/P7210161.jpg I also own a 6 String Douglas Fretless, a 5 string Variax 705 (very handy for recording), and a 5 string SX Jazz fretless, in regards to Extended Range instruments.
  17. Sure. I've downloaded thousands of midi's in search of quality ones to use for my backing tracks I create, but as I recall there's some good Tull Midi's on the following Progressinve Rock midi site. http://web.agria.hu/kepenu/ Best of luck! I love playing Tull, it'd br fun to do so in Rocksmith too. haha... :)
  18. Best of luck with these. I can't help with TAB's, I've never tried to make any, but I already know the bass lines for most of those tunes. I jam them with some friends every now and then. But Tull is one of my very favorite bands, so if you manage to create them, I'd love to play along with them! :) Also, something to consider when you can't locate good TAB's (I guess TAB's are used somehow to create the CDLC?). There are a lot of quality Midi files available for download on the net, that include all the various instrument parts. It's fairly simple to use a free utility to convert midi to TAB. Not sure how to get it into the exact format you actually need to create these CDLC's, but I've made a lot of Backing Tracks using my DAW & softsynth's, that I use live to playalong with, from Midi files. Just another alternative to consider when looking for good TAB's. I mention this here, because I've made a lot of Tull Backing Tracks from midi files, so I know there's some great versions out there that can be used for this. ;)
  19. If I can learn how to do this stuff (just found out about these CDLC's today. Didn't even know you could create them. I've just been buying what's available on Steam), I can probably add bass to that, and a bunch of others I see in this list. I've been playing Aqualung on bass with others for over 30 years. Tull is one of my all-time favorite bands. Actually just played it with some friends at a jam last week. I can play it live in my sleep. lol
  20. I'm new around here, and have only had the two Rocksmith titles since Christmas, but I've been playing bass off and on since the spring of 1980. I still own my '79 MusicMan Stingray I bought new back then, though I don't play it all that often anymore (actually, my nephew is using it at the moment. lol). My main bass these days is a 6 string Ibanez Prestige 1006 EBG that I bought a few years back. I absolutely love the tone of this bass. I also have a second 6 string bass that I often use to practice with. It's an Ibanez 506 and has a similar neck profile to my main bass. Other basses I own are a Variax 705, a 60's era Hofner copy, and a few inexpensive Fretless basses. I own 4, 5, and 6 string fretless basses. All are inexpensive pieces I picked up at Rondo Music. 2 are SX's, one is a Douglas. I also own one guitar. It's an Ibanez Artcore I bought used. I also plan to eventually use that with Rocksmith to help improve my guitar playing, both Rhythm and lead. By far my favorite style of music to play is Progressive Rock. Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Rush, Jethro Tull, ELP, UK, Gentle Giant, Jeff Beck, and Kansas is the type of stuff I jam with my friends when we get together and play these days. Throw in some Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Steely Dan, and you get an idea where my musical tastes lie. I am also a fan of some of the more modern Prog groups, like Porcupine Tree, Crucible, Transatlantic, Aeryon, Liquid Tension Experiment, Spock's Beard, and of course Steven Wilson's solo project. If you couldn't tell, Prog is my favorite style of music. hehe... Here's a pic of my main bass I play these days... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/Pruitt/Music/P7210159.jpg
