  1. All these drinks sound a bit posh to me...I like the simple life, give me a plain old Guinness every time lol
  2. Definitely slow speed and 100% difficulty, I prefer to learn the first part first. Then play the first and learn the second. Then the first and second and learn the third etc etc. That way by the time you get to the last part of the song you'll have most of the song committed to memory.
  3. I've pretty much given up drinking now. I used to have a bit of a problem with drink which started when I had a breakdown whilst I was at University aged 21. I was drinking 15-20 pints a day every day. Had to leave Uni because I had problems with my grant and was also homeless for a few weeks and stayed with friends until I got somewhere sorted out. I then started working behind the bar in a biker's pub and continued to drink, by that time I had increased my intake by 5 pints on average. Was there for about 10 years and hate to think about how much damage I've done lololol Haven't got any embarrassing stories though because I'm a pretty sensible drunk lol. The only thing I can think of is that I agreed in front of witnesses to wear a French Maid's outfit for my band's first gig! I haven't completely given up but it's VERY rare that I drink, and when I do it's only a couple of pints at the most. When I was at my peak I could quite happily go on drinking sessions lasting 24-36 hours without sleep and without drugs to keep me going.
  4. Yup, I really can't understand people that are happy to just sit in a rehearsal studio and practice week after week after week, particularly if they're like the members of my old band, The Exiles From Pluto, and have experienced the buzz you get from a live performance. I can understand that it's VERY nerve wracking if you haven't played before but even then I just think the whole point of joining a band is to play in front of people like your heroes in the industry. When I played my very first gig ever with The Exiles From Pluto, if the 128 strong crowd wasn't nerve wracking enough, I did the whole gig dressed in a French Maid's outfit (I was drunk when I agreed to it in front of witnesses so couldn't bottle out lmfao) lololol. It was all to do with the song named after me, Harvey's Song which is available to listen to in that link in the OP. The singer, Spark, also changed into a wedding dress before the start of Lay You To Rest about halfway through the gig lol
  5. Wasn't too sure where to post these but here is as good a place as any. The first video here is a handy way to learn how to play your scales up and down the neck by combining the different boxes of each Pentatonic position to make one big box, or scale map: This second one is how to combine the Minor and Major Pentatonic Scales into one box shape for each position, and of course you can (and should!) combine this with the scale mapping idea above: Not too sure what you'd call the scale...Pentatonic Mijor perhaps..? Or maybe there's a proper name for it lol    Please feel free to add more to this thread that you've found useful.
  6.
  7. Great stuff, thanks for all the hard work you've all done so quickly. Brilliant! Edit: And now the amount of members is: Well someone had to do it lol
  8. That's really good stuff. I particularly like The Human Experience, Ignorance Is Bliss and Eve. Nice!
  9. I wouldn't pay any attention to the 60 Day Challenge. It's been broken since the game launched. The only thing that registers time properly is LAS, and that's only since it recently went into its Beta stage. I personally think that lessons, Guitarcade use and especially Session Mode should all contribute to the 60 Day Challenge allotted time.
  10. Has anyone used Stylus Picks..? Was thinking about checking them out but can't imagine them being useful for playing chords.
  11. Awesome lol, I think you'll go far!
  12. Mine is a black one that cost me 3 quid lol Was thinking of getting another one less boring though.
  13. I've started using these: http://images4.thomann.de/pics/bdb/168992/1817020_800.jpg You really can't go wrong for £0.78 for a set. They're not the best strings in the world for obvious reasons lol, and you'll need to change them every week or two but they're ridiculously cheap so it's not a big deal. I'd definitely recommend them if you're on a budget.
  14. I've got one and think they're marvelous. Great using the whammy bar and not having the thing go out of tune, and if I want to change the tuning or play a Hardtail then I have a Tremol-No to give me the best of both worlds.
  15. I'd avoid Internet Explorer whenever possible tbh. Other browsers tend to be more secure.
  16. Blimey Stryper are an unfortunate blast from the past lololol I'd love to see more blues, funk and reggae myself. Am surprised we haven't seen more blues in particular on here and previously on SA.

  18. Still the same, justr haven't been able to get anything decent going again for some reason...but , even though it's a bit pants.  Will upload another as soon as I get my mojo back lol :-P
  19. Very difficult. Rush - 2112 is up there, as is Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage Acts II and III but Chick Corea's The Mad Hatter just edges it I reckon. You may have guessed I love concept albums!
  20. I'm probably splitting my time equally between Learn A Song, Guitarcade, Lessons and Session Mode I think.
  21. Blimey, never thought about FRAPS, I used to work with that every day too. Just had a quick play around but for some reason these last couple of nights I haven't been able to get my groove going...very odd because three nights ago I was really able to get some nice licks going. Will try again tomorrow and see what happens lol
  22. I have unashamedly 'borrowed' this idea from the official Rocksmith forum from Ubisoft, the original thread is right here (have used an anonymiser just in case linking to Ubisoft from here is a bit dodgy!) and full credit goes to P308R for coming up with the original idea! :D spiritofcat on there has done the following tutorial on how to record your Session Mode stuff on your PC, here they are: People on there have been uploading their tunes/solos to Soundcloud here. I've had problems with very low guitar sound the first time you start Rocksmith and Audacity but quitting Rocksmith and restarting it seems to fix the issue. I'm full of Prawn Balti at the moment but will have a go in an hour or so and upload something...but be warned - I'm a bit pants lol
  23. Not sure about the Mac version but I bought the original version of Rocksmith on Steam before I bought 2014 and then bought the Sultana pack when Rocksmith 1 DLC was going cheap and all 3 songs appear in Rocksmith 2014.
  24. Yup, that's what I do too. Means that you get your fingering correct right from the start.
