  1. I'd much appreciate seeing the Tab Explorer extended as well (either with a printing funktion, or exporting the tabs to open them in e.g. TuxGuitar and beeing able to print from there). Anyways... about the "trust" thing. We are already putting a whole lot of trust into this website. We donate, even though noone (not even the owner, I'd say) can know for sure that this service will be provided forever. We didn't sign any legal agreement. Because of that, I think trust won't be the main issue! I was thinking of using this to an advantage: Customsforge could create a seperate donation goal (like the DLC giveaway - btw, what happended to that? I don't use twitter...) to raise money for an abstract purpose of "Supporting development of tools with relation to Rocksmith". In case a noticeable amount of money is raised, potential developers could apply for receiving (part of) that money in return for some sort of goal they have to define. They will receive the money if the goals are satisfied. If the amount of money raised is too small or no developer is found or the goals are never reached, the money will not be refunded to the donators, but instead go straight into Customsforge's own donation goals. This way, people will know their money is used for something they agree with (either the tool or CF itself), and CF can be trusted to manage the money, because we trust them anyway already! What do you think?
  2. Since I came too late last week, I post some early results now :-) I had to play Lead in the "Learn a Song"-Mode, because I just don't survive Score Attack on Hard... there are at least three phrases about which I don't know if I will ever be able to play them... maybe in a couple of decades... Intermediate: Lead: 83% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=284052291 Rhythm: 92,52 % http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=284052389
  3. On second thought, the actual tone name is fixed (you just have a dropdown with OVERDRIVE, CLEAN, etc.) and has to be equal in the toolkit and EOF. Rather stick to what a.peter said!
  4. Did you also change the "DLC Name" in the Toolkit? Two DLCs with the same "DLC Name" will never show up at the same time. You should always write something like "Artist-name_Song-title" Also someone said a problem might occur when the tones are named equally, but I don't have personal experience with that. So name tones "Artist-name_Song-title_tone-style" just to be sure. Good luck :-)
  5. Here is another idea, simply stolen from your "staff" indicator :-) Don't know how easy that would be to implement, but I like it^^
  6. Thanks for this vivid discussion :-) That's why I suggested "I think people should be allowed to "continue support" for dead CLDC after a "reasonable amount" of time." Others should only be allowed to re-upload a CDLC, when it is obvious that the support has ended for a longer time (meaning months/weeks, not days) Good to know! Hopefully this thread will help you in the process!
  7. I have been around for a while and I think that i am familiar with the forum rules, but this problem got me thinking... In this custom the Lead track does not work (usual freeze-after-tuning-issue). The user hasn't been online for about three weeks, which is not a long time. But for three month, people have been stating that this problem exists, and it hasn't been fixed. I just tried repacking the whole CDLC with the toolkit (without changing any content) and that worked perfectly. I also posted an how-to in the comments. Now my question is: Am I allowed to provide a download link to the repacked version in the comments of an existing database entry? This will help everyone who is not familiar with the toolkit. According to the FAQ, I am not: "Customs Forge is still very new" is writen there because this rule was set in the first days, when posting other peoples CDLC from SA could have brought massive problems. But this site isn't new any more and new problems need to be adressed: The Adoption System has been introduced, which is a great step in the right direction. This way, the "exclusive control" rule has already been weakend. As time moves on, there will be numerous cases where support for customs will stop and/or links to formerly hosted CDLC will become dead. I think people should be allowed to "continue support" for dead CLDC after a "reasonable amount" of time. If links are posted in the original database entry, then the original charter still gets the credit. (I don't think people should be allowed to create new entries with their fixed versions.) And if the original charter decides to continue support one day, he can just do so. Of course, all of this would not be possible if we force the "exlusive control". So this is the magic question :-) Does this community want the "exclusive control", or not? Regards, Arzael
  8. Yeah, that thought came to mind after my post... I stepped up to Master Bass because the 100% were not really that hard to get, so I don't feel like it represents my skill level. But for an automated script, you could define rules here as well, e.g. determine an average level: I am intermediate in Lead and Rhythm, thus my average would be intermediate. In case someone only participates in two roles (e.g. Lead Int and Bass MC but no Rhythm) you could agree on rounding up or down. This way everything can be calculated by simple math and some scripting should not be too complicated :-)
  9. +1 on this request. I think this should be enabled by default, because I guess a lot of users are missing the updates as well as conversations or discussions about the customs. Maybe you could even pop up a similar window as used for the follow button, suggesting the auto-follow with the typical "never ask me again" option
  10. I had an idea that is a little bit like the trophies: Just like we have the "Donator" indicator on the left, all players in the championship could have a sign saying: "Championship level: Beginner / Intermediate / Masterclass" Since there seems to be an automated "group" and signs for the donators, maybe the google spreadsheet "class list" could be automatically read out and apply the users there to such groups. Of course some programing is necessary there, but maybe this needs less effort than weekly trophies! It would increase the motivation for moving up to the next level and increase the overall awareness of the championship in the community. The sign could even be a button, linking to the championship thread folder. Greetings, Azrael
  11. Hi everyone, I do my screenshots during the week, deleting the old ones if I improve and then post them on saturday. Yesterday, though, I didn't have the chance to do it... I know this is too late and it's ok if they get ignored, but I just wanted to give it a try :-) Intermediate: Lead: 96.76% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=282066995 Rhythm: 99.09% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=282067056 Bass: 100% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=279339559 Regards, Azrael
  12. When I imported time signatures other than 4/4, I noticed that for some cases I had to set the BPM in EOF exactly half (or double, don't remember) the value specified in the GP-file. Just give that a try!
  13. Here are my results for intermediate :-) Lead: 97.03% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=276447177 Rythm: 97.38% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=276447069 Bass: 100.00% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=275995532 Started with the beginner song yesterday but I realized that this one is quite a challenge... didn't have the time to learn it properly...
  14. You should also check out the Championship here on Customsforge ;-) http://customsforge.com/topic/8012-rocksmith-2014-championship-week-35/ There are new beginner, intermediate and masterclass songs every week. Even if you don't feel like participating, checking out the beginner songs (also those of the past weeks) might be worth it! And once you get some decent results you can upload them - I realized that such a championship is extremely motivating :-) Regards, Azrael
  15. Hey everyone, this is my score for Space Machine - Lead: 95.12% http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=273254970 When I heard it for the first time, I really thought I wouldn't be able to play it... but after practising for the whole week, I really made some progress :-) I realized that the Leaderbords work for this one, how awesome is that? Greetings, Azrael
  16. Just to put one thought out there with regard to... One of the major reasons why RS is superior to learning just from tabs is that you can exactly hear what you are supposed to be playing. After intense playing for a couple of month, I get the feeling that I start to hear where my fingers are supposed to go (which is super awesome). Because of this, multitracks are not great for the purpose of learning the song. And maybe this is one reason why so many people voted for "no". Of course, having the choice to play with the band on your own when you have learned the song is extremely valuable. So as long as the full versions are still released, there really is no reason for complaint or saying "no" to multitracks. Regards, Azrael
  17. You are right, the mentioned thread doesn't contain the information you need. But in Help & Tutorials, there is a pinned thread with a video you could have easily found ;-) http://customsforge.com/topic/4832-how-to-create-rocksmith-2014-custom-video/ Near the end of the video, Snake uses the "Ultrastar Creator", a tool to create formatted lyrics from raw text. This is what you'll want to use!
  18. Hey Guys, this is the first time I participate in the Championship, hurray! I guess this will keep me even more motivated  All I have to do is enter my name in the song selection list, right? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=270104125 PS: When I try to show the image at http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3263170274438695806/6224602575DD92F3D91EDFB06D0CB7E8F26EF5A8/ I get the error that the image extension is not allowed (maybe because there is no extension in the file path?) Is there a way to link the image directly from steam?
  19. Deep Peace uses the following time signatures: 4/4, 7/8, 2/4, 6/8 http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/deep-peace-r4403 I hope this helps :-)
  20. Why don't you just change it in the ingame "real tone cable gain"-setting? Doesn't this work for you? I imagine it is a bit anoying to go through your system volume settings each time you start the game :-)
  21. This is a bug that's been there since the game came out. They weren't able to fix this. Instead, they added a gain setting in the options menu. This will allow you to boost your guitar's signal -- it'll have you recalibrate after that. "It's not a bug - it's a feature" No seriously... I really think this is exactly the the way it is intended to be. When Rocksmith is started, it takes controll over your input and output devices in an "exclusive mode" to gain priority. I once unchecked the box " Applications in exclusive mode have priority" in the advanced settings of my speakers. The result was a noticable sound-delay ingame. Thus this priority mode seems to enable the delay-free treatment of the in- and output signals. About the mic volume level: I guess the value is set to the one determined by the soundcheck ingame. All in all, you cannot change the mic volume in the system settings because of the exclusive mode - but that is a useful thing! Nevertheless, you can still control this slider by the ingame stetting "real tone cable gain" - it directly changes your system mic volume. This way you have full control over your input volume ;-)
  22. Good idea. I have Win 8 and I see no action that says "set back previous version" when I go to that folder and click it. Am I missing something? Thanks. I use this Win 8-feature as well, but luckily did not have to restore a backup yet. This feature is called "File History" ("Dateiversionsverlauf" in german) and you have to set it up before you can use it - it won't work automatically! 1. Activate File History: You have to choose an external usb/network-harddrive, where the backups are saved. 2. Now all the files that are contained IN ONE OF THE LIBRARIES (documents, music, etc...) are saved in an intervall that you can define 3. To back up the RS files, you have add the folder (Steamuserdata*******221680remote) to a windows-library (I created a new one) 4. For restoring a file you have to navigate there in the explorer and hit the button "history" (verlauf in german). Then you can navigate through all the versions of a file or folder The fact that you have to use libraries to set up the file history is a little bit odd, but otherwise it's a great feature. While your backup-harddrive is disconnected, windows will save the file versions localy and copy them when you connect your harddrive the next time. On your backup-harddrive, the original folder strukture will still be available, the file versions just get a time stamp added to their name. This means you can access your backup without windows as well (only the file names will look funny) - this is a great plus in contrast to some backup-programs that creat huge blackbox-files that are completely worthless without the program that createt them!
  23. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X220T with Intel Core i7-2620M CPU (Intel HD 3000 onboard Graphics), 8 GB of RAM and a SSD. I play Rocksmith on my external monitor and with 720p everything works just fine! I once changed the resolution to 1080p but then the video lessons started to lag... So now I play with all the graphic settings at default. While the fan is working pretty hard, overheating was never a problem. And the volume of the fan is no problem either, since I always play with my headphones on. This laptop is now almost three years old, but it's powerfull enough for everything except hardcore graphics gaming... plus having the touch & pen screen is great for university!
  24. Firekorn, thank you for this great tone and your feedback! I hope you don't mind that I would like to continue this conversation in the CDLC-thread to get everybody's attention
  25. As always, thanks for your in-depth answer, Rockfirstlast. I decided to improve the syncing by adjusting the lengths of the beats. I was mostly worried about the beginning of the super long solo, and now I am pretty happy with it  About the overstrums in the beginning... I decided to leave the copy-paste notation untouched for now. When you turn the volume up quite loud, you will be able to hear strums in most of the cases where they are notated. If I now start deleting silent strums, I think it will only make playing it way more complicated. I guess this is more important than the small benefit of making the CDLC a tiny bit more accurate. It sounds ok, and the important part is the solo, anyway  Any comments on the tones? If I do not get any replies in the next week or so, I will finally put this one into the data base. Regards, Azrael
