  1. This might be really niche and im not 100% sure how you'd set it up im pretty sure ive mentioned it before. The main idea is just automatic generated genres playlists of customsforge on spotify or other streaming services (although admitdley i only know for sure it can work on spotify not sure if the same proccess works for the other ones)
My idea is everytime you add a song into the cf database with one of the genre tags it gets saved along with the rest of the meta data ( artist name , song name, album name, year released, time etc) into an excell page dedicated to that genre.
    so example:
you upload ed sheeran shape of you with the tag pop
it then adds ed sheeran shape of you in the respective colums of the pop playlist page in excell
then you can outsource / use one of those freebie sites that makes excell cvc sheets into playlists (maybe a daily or weekly thing).
now any costumforge user can have a new way to figure out what has been uploaded onto cf with genres that they like (well assuming they put a heart to the playlist) and technicly if the user listens to the song there for the 30 seconds the artist gets paid his 0.007 cents lol

Start with the main genres to see if anyone is interested then do sub genres..Altho I think the subgenres might be harder to find since users might not tag it in that category cause it might have multiple subgenres...anyways

I did start to do it manually ages ago..But thats just way too time consuming and there's always a faster way ( I just dont know how to code or to set that up)
The benefit of doing the excell and spotify thing is that if you were to then do the inverse and make a cvc out of the playlist it can give you the genres that the artist/label put their song in so it could also give the opportunity to put more tags on those songs...ooooor....It can help you find the key to the songs,  so you can add that as a tag aswell ...and then with all the songs in key maybe make key related playlists.. (I know there are songs that use multiple keys or more complex keys like the asian scales middle easter scales harmonic whatever) but it'd still be better than nothing maybe.

Decided to give it a shot. Weird trip this one..kinda wish they'd be more like metalica in the sense of sticking to what they know works. There's definatley some cool ideas in there but usually something ruins the vibe for me and would make me not want to revisit it...seems more like a uni project at times mixing genres, throwing stuff to see what sticks, or just the mixing audio quality in general doesnt sound as good/full as city of evil imo.

cosmic is the one i most pleasently surprised with.. personally really liked 3:15 to 4:20 think its probably the most solid part of the whole album however the disonant riser he puts after kinda kills it for me cause its too loud and overpowers everything. Really enjoyed  5:00  onwards mostly for the high energy drums and synths! but kinda think it shouldve just been its own thing.

the beautiful morning song is decent but i think id rather just hear or play them bones by alice in chains.
g at 1:10 reminds me of some 80s song that i like where the guitar is vocal melody singing doo doos but i cant think of the name.
death is probably the one id listen to..id probably stop it at 2:20 ish cause not a fan of the horns and again, then theres another disonant rise (which i understand why they did it i just dont like it, its a bit too much)...

Anyways, a bit easier than i thought/ hoped itd be. I suggest anyone who wants to play it to practice the songs in the last half as they have some sneaky bass lines that caught me offguard this first sight view..not much happens first half on bass.

oof pitched slides one of my weaknesses . fun song to play though.

yea playing the guitar parts made me appreciate the song more. good intermediate song

Imo the guitar paths can be int 5.  The solo is short and doable (since it stays in the 12 area almost all of it, most likely just pentatonics) and thats that i avoid solos like the plague/ cant play them usually. Also cause its just a lot of single notes..and because almost every kid learns metalica as one of their first songs. atleast they did when i was growing up..and this is just more simple than those songs were. But since you did put them lower advanced i wont rant that much hah.

  4. Cool week!
i've heard of all the bands, just never played these songs from them.
Also didnt notice any missing notes/wrong ones so thats always nice!

    orapysP.jpg
fun, a bit unexpected with the fretting descisions. Just seems to be more movements across the fretboard than nessecary and then its not really consistant with that movement either (aka same sections are tabbed differently) but im guilty of doing that aswell when i find the song too repetitve hehe.
    rfd94zT.jpg
good tab. Should probably check their new stuff out.

Thanks for not putting Mehtallica in masterclass..wouldnt mind it being intermediate.

seems a bit tricky to 100. vocals kinda remind me of the baby song we had before by royal republic.
hopefully earthrocker gets picked sometime eventually cause that one is the one i enjoyed out of the bunch that i think hyphema recommended

    cpJEDkw.jpg
it reminds me of a song i made a couple years ago..you can never go wrong with a bluesy riff. quite hard for the solo and in the rhythm section for the arpeggiated notes that doesnt have handshapes. but still fun.
    InoIpuP.jpg
midway i was like huh this song doesnt seem to be thaat hard.. then the tappy solo came and i was like ah yes...this is why im not that level yet haha. to the people who can do it how do you hold 2 and 6 at the same time? seems like a massive stretch or ig you have to lift and shift ? ig then itd be easier hmm dunno

Tones used on a custom have no impact on detection, the note detection is run on your clean direct input.

Yea...That makes sense, since when tones have pitch pedals  it'll still recognize the note you fretted and not the pitched note.
So i guess its just a placebo youre just playing it better?
Or maybe you hear your mistakes with a clean tone more so you're more consious of where not to mess up which in turn makes you perform slightly better?

  7. after practicing both for quite a while heres some slight improvements:
    KfYO3SH.jpg
really wanted atleast 95% but i tried a few more runs and got a slightly worse score so im just posting this one lol. (thanks for the update hameron)
    oaKjXwL.jpg
i liked the score for this one.
at bubbledragon, your right ! i thought it was a standard triad and then a note on the d string but its not its on the g string. still new guitar vocab/voicing for me lol

  8.  hmm odd @ jellisjenius  ..maybe the bass needed a bit more tuning? or maybe the open notes  in between the fretted ones need to be played more clearly?
i tried it again after first 100% on the new version and still managed to get 100

    jbWCOG0.jpg
it was registering alot of earlies when playing it but i think thats a me issue/ i never really understood what causes early good or perfect

neat surprise of a song! very interesting to try read the lyrics when not knowing the language, lots of zs and ws lol.  the chord slides didnt seem to want to detect for me.
    n2vL8tf.jpg
Intro riffage is kinda similar to the stuff senses fails does in their songs like bite to break... or its also kinda like the chorus in f c p r e m i x by fall of troy (love that song even if i cant get a high %).
learnt some new chord shapes in drop d so thats cool.
i think i could get it up higher.
    MgmjUZN.jpg
i had no idea what was going of with the arps
    kl57jkr.jpg
2nd time i noticed that the first section actually does have the shapes so that helped a bit too bad its not in all of the song cause the rhythm path doesnt seem thaat hard. just a bit hard to read

...you often write that a song should be in a lower class than it is

Yea i mean take my comments about songs being lower class with a grain of salt as i will most likely always vote for a lower rating haha. Mainly because I like the weeks where you have to retry a couple of times to get a higher score and because in real life i would never consider myself anything above "intermediate" on any instrument.

Also im just used to getting really low scores like 30s-60s %  on r+ "advanced"  or jazz paths for guitar so its just different to get low scores on that and then pretty high ones ( 85s+) in the advanced  here...
I do understand bass is harder to find more difficult songs (they arent tabbed, not right, or songs with harder guitar just generally haver simpler basslines)  which results in bass  paths being rated a bit higher on the dificulty scale than they probably should be.

In the end i think its more important to get the feedback from people in those level/ categories and see how well they do.

Regarding the wrong notes, I haven't checked it thoroughly enough, but we should probably use the corrected version - I'll add a link in the selection.

    3Ec2tuf.jpg

yea, the fixed version is way more accurate for the bass thanks for the quick fix!

@ cacahuate51   So do you agree with @ kayteck  that Muse is more for intermediate and White Lion for advanced? Then I will switch these songs in the selection.

well..i honestly think they are both intermediate songs as i dont think either have hard enough sections to warrant advanced/ they both have alot of singles / repeat / easy to 99+ it (is level up class 99 or 100?) etc.  i think thats what kayteck was trying to say aswell..?

but if one of thsoe two had to be advanced..

if we're going by score: i think muse one will be harder to 100% due to the pitched slides (tricky to get it to recognize it constantly).

If they were unpitched: it could honestly pass as a hard begginner/ low int song 3 / 3.5 imo since its mostly a 1 string song. (so then ig white lions would be the advanced)

Anyways they are pitched and the competition/ moving up in classes is about %  so i understand why you gave it to muse.

    good tab
    I64X7YT.jpg
surprised havent heard of them before i liked it! vocalist reminds me of def leppards singer.
    uS7C3Lh.jpg
I think this song should be lower class, it was easier than the other song (slides for me are hit or miss) .Both paths (normal and bonus) have some wrong notes in some sections.
     k2hHnaz.jpg
Probably my fav song this week! whenever i do octave intervals slowly it reminds me of pinkfloyds money bass line but this one is faster and funner to play for me. Never heard of them but might check them out aswell. I think i could fc it.
Kinda would like this to be adv standard songs but i know it is hard to find good difficult cdlc for bass so i guess i understand why its masterclass.. although it is only like 3 sections and a short song could pass as advance song imo..

guitar sounds like alot of songs cant think of their names tho...i guess the interval distance between the two chords could be american idiot by greenday but thats a tone lower
    snTy9XL.jpg
    2iDfMlW.jpg
first two chords interval distance make me think of heart shapped box by nirvana but in a higher key ...
lead: the fills are kinda tough
rhythm: ...Its Tabbed a bit more complicated than it could be..and it didnt seem like it was consistant in the fretting positions across the song. Rare to see a vocal path but fun

I tried this part for quite a while now, but I just can't seem to figure it out how to play it well, does any of you have advice for this part on the Summertime by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes song?

@ BubbleWrapDragon yea small sections like these are why i would consider this song harder to 100 than the one thats currently on the advanced path. Also the fact that the song is divided in quite big chunks doesnt really help in learning it.

I think your approach on how its tabbed is right.
but im not convinced the bends are placed on the correct notes atm..
i think it probably should be placed on the notes before the purple..so its more of a bluesy doublestop thing..so rearranging the 5 and 7 green up to the 9 and 11 orange.. itd be like :

9orange bend (1 whole tone/ so equivalent to the note on 11o, using your 3rd finger and 2nd for support in bending aswell),  7purple (1st finger),  9o bend,  7 p   9o bend, pull off 7, 9 blue (pull off 7b ?) then the chord 9777
but thats my ears and i might be wrong

I'm still playing almost every night. Playing really helped rehab my broken arm. It was broken at the elbow, and fretting helped get manual dexterity working again quickly. I have been focusing on lead guitar and playing The Shadows, The Ventures, The Spotnicks, the one or two songs by The Atlantics, The Chantays, The Marketts, ... Also trying to lean Dick Dale, The Bel-Airs, Los Tiki Phantoms.... I need to spend some time learning how to make accurate CDLC, ....

Yea, so it was you @ someotherbruce ! Havent seen you in a while in the competition man! its good to see you're still active and playing surf music. Its smart that you are using other sources besides rocksmith to learn the song. i should probably do that aswell just so that the songs get stuck in my head more instead of just sightreading songs and forgetting what i played lol.

Learning how to make cdlc does take some time and making them does too sometimes but i find it fun.  As long as you take the time to use the guide i think you'll be okay. if you get stuck theres always the discord channel (probably quickest to get an answer), forum or i would also be happy to try to help.

  17. cool week! i dig the theme weeks

I liked this song!  probably the most out of the bunch just cause i have a guilty pleasure for synthwave or songs that emulate the 80s pop/ kinda cheesy also liked the voice of barbie williams (got a little accent but i like her tone) might check her out tbh.
I do have to say though there are some errors on all the paths.. not too horrible but there are there and it wouldve been nice if the rhythm guitar path would actually play the notes that the guitarist plays cause it kinda seems like the chords are from transcribing the synth part instead or something but again doesnt sound too bad.
The soloish caught me by surprise at the end! not used to playing that high up

    a37MBD4.jpg
    kSLuukf.jpg
i think this path would be harder to 100 (lead) than the 311 song..but they both do seem to be around the same skill imo
    LrybEwP.jpg
    TFJcVYo.jpg
when i was doing the spotify genres playlist back ages ago i noticed 311 was probably one of the bands that had the most cdlcs created. i still havent tried any really except for the original content one beautiful disaster that one was fun and i played it alot in gh world tour aswell /the reason why i paid for it in r 2014. this one was decent

    YkpaUgk.jpg
i dont think ive ever played a hendrix song fully lol but i liked the chromaticism riffs was fun to play

    odZI7S3.jpg
not sure i understand the fingering on this song cause its kinda fast switching? are you supposed to bar the power chord with your middle finger after doing the sus/ police chord? cause thats what i was doing but i felt like i was gonna break my finger xD so if anyone has any tips thatd be nice.

    r3pzDD1.jpg
i think this song could be in the advanced category.

yea i wouldnt mind it being lower aswell. I just gave it a high score cause i didnt 100 it first try or second but i think thats tunning related or something that doesnt make the em chord get recognised for me. But overall its an easy path with few notes.
btw thanks for the change of winners for last week!
