Here is my attempt from last night. Though I feel like I cheated with this.

By cheating I mean during portions of the song on the Red/E string, and it's 3, 5, 7, then Yellow/A String 5, 7. I wasn't using my pinky for the 7th fret like I feel like it's designed to do by using my index/middle and ring finger.

Still played it well but only got 92% when I used my pinky, shows me I need to work on pinky strength.

    Money - L.jpg

So nope not cheating at all!

there is lots of ways to place the fingers in the chart. The way i have charted that section is you use your first finger on the 3 then you jump/ shift to the 5 place your first finger there and youll be hitting the 7s with your ring finger.
    3KhP7QR.png
The Blue lanes that are highlighted is known as the frethand position  (where you should have your fretting hand) so when it moves to the 5,  5 6 7 8 are now highlighted cause your first finger is on the 5.

If I had made it so that 5 7s are played with the ring and pinky it would look like this:
    2Dh8dSL.png
It does look cleaner but usually i would just use that shape ( I call it the m shape cause it looks like an M to me  aka fret skip fret skip fret) starting from 5s and up. (so 579)

When i mention shapes i mean a position you place your hand without shifting.

When its lower, anywhere from 0 to 5 I much rather shift my hand  cause i find it more comfortable and its funner for me cause then i can add unnescary slides.

Also with M shapes Its good to remember you usually can play last note aka the 7 on the string bellow one fret down so that is also another reason why i probably wouldnt use the M shape on the lower frets cause another shape is more accesible without moving the hand.

so 4 yellow would make a new shape i refer to as the  N shape since you are now fretting 2 3 and 5

( the missing shape is an R shape which is called that cause you use the ring finger so 5 7 8 😎

Anyways going off a tangent, both ways are acceptable and practical.  Do whatever way makes you enjoy the chart more 🙂 . Whats important is the result/ how it sounds like not really how you do it imo. I thought I had tabbed  it both ways but looks like i didnt so maybe ill change that later.

  3. From what the creator of charter has stated in the Charter discord and in Customsforge discord is that the import function of guitarpro to charter still needs work. I personally never use guitar pro and just have done everything in eof so i dont know if those same issues are present in eof or not. I will give charter a shot once i finish a project im working on. I remember using it last year and it was pretty good but had to redo some projects cause it crashed and all my progress got erased. I'm sure thats fixed by now though.

Also Charter was made cause eof no longer recieved updates however its creator is active again and doing updates soo I'm still unsure which one is "better".

I'll just get back to this. Did I understand correctly that this is some kind of tool that helps create tabs for songs? I've always wondered if there was such a thing, but I haven't looked into it too much, I also hope that the development of AI will allow it to create tablatures. Something like this would be very useful for creating charts of less popular songs, for which there are no good tablatures, if any at all 😉

It can help yea, but you still need to use your ear to transcribe what you hear. Itll just make seperate wav files for bass, vocals, drums and other (which tends to be guitar + any synth) . There's lots of free software online most of them use a credit system which im not a fan of. Thats why i use uvr5 cause its just something you download once and itll seperate unlimited stems for you. Theres also more expensive tools/ plugins like Rx8 by izotope that do something similar but the difference isnt that huge so why not just stick to the freebie.

Sometimes basses or any instrument are hidden in the mix so thats when i find it usefull as it helps me identify notes easier by ear since theres less guessing work ( aka its clearer if its bass rather than perhaps a  guitar) . Sometimes notes arent too clear though in seperation and are too muddy /underwatery but i find its the best thing if there are no live videos ( and even live videos sometimes are bad cause usually only the singer is in frame)

There are software that claims that can do wav file to transcription but from what ive tested they all seem pretty faulty. Technology doesnt seem to be there yet but i don't doubt it will be soon.

Thanks for working on the bass @ Rodman   didnt mean to get you to spend that much time on it, my bad. Im guilty of losing track of time on doing things aswell. I personally would've done some of the bass different but then again theres lots of ways to play the bass or guitar (aka the cdlc i did for money and all the paths are not really how its played).

Some small areas do still seem off though ? (not too much a big of a deal)  If I get time I'll try to offer some help since i think i could fix some of it and since you've already spent a lot of time on it / its probably not healthy to spend more on it. I'm pretty full with work though this week so Im not sure when that would be .

oof barchords hurt me but cool.

It kinda seems like this is an import guitar tab to eof as all the chords are being triggered each time instead of just at the begining. This is cause when importing iirc it sets the chords to crazy status. Ctrl A and removing the status in note menu should make it appear how most cdlcs appear. also i think some notes werent appearing in the cdlc cause there would be no note and it would count as a miss in the lead path.

im curious what you get in bonus lead path @ Willyam  i have a feeling you could do good.

gonna have to practice that solo! seems doable though. very interesting to play all those 3 paths and they are all doing something different. Interesting arrangement, like the bass path the most.

Heya! Welcome to the championship! This week is already over the new week is week 600

Feel free to submit those songs scores. By the looks of your scores it seems like you'll  do good in Bass Advanced so thats where i have put you (you can play songs outside of your class aswell).

note: Always make sure to take a picture where the streak is being displayed so that it counts as a score. Hope to see you around again!

Much respect to those who tab songs over 4 mins long I start to go insane when I do.
Apologize for not testing it earlier cause you did ask but I was pretty bussy last week. Now that i have, I do believe some bass notes are missing / what is tabbed is not what is being played in both paths.
Not sure if you use tabs or ear or both. What i do is use a free tool called uvr5 (there probably is a newer version out now) it isolates the stems which can make life on tabbing by ear a little bit more easier in certain areas. Its not 100% accurate/ sometimes it processes weird but usually it helps some when you are not sure.

theres some slides and flourishes that i think your tab is currently missing.
Also curious what ai you use for images cause the ones ive tried in the past never can do words right.

its only two riffs  I can do it fine at 90% or good on piano at 100 but not on bass as its just too fast for me. Hence, for speed i say its higher than intermediate but maybe im just bad itll be interesting to see what the results of intermediate players will be though!!

Fine fine, for the Rock n Roll! 😂

I couldn't find a way to make the chorus not sound 💩 but I am over it!! Bear with me y'all

I felt like I was guessing on the timing the whole time, rough!

OOOW! haha love that vocal line.

something sounds odd with the guitars or bass in the intro? not sure if its not tuned right or maybe timing something but good job with the solo! and the tududu doo doos.

much respect always fun to hear your covers

Btw @ cacahuate51  this time i can say the bass is harder for me than usual. I guess mostly because of the speed? So i guess higher than 3?

Yea ofc! Everyone goes on different paths so some songs might be easier than others thats why I ask for peoples ratings to average it out to hopefully be more balanced.

Just name the song and a specific number instead of "higher than " would be appreciated. That way I can actually do an average when i change the values on friday. I assume you mean alestorms bass? since electric is 3.5.

Yes, this was weak, it looks like the vocalist didn't get there with his voice 🫠 But from my experience I can say that I was happy with 90% of the concerts I've been to. And some bands like Rammstein do such an amazing live show that listening to records can't do it justice. Although I've mostly been to concerts of very well-known bands who approach it professionally and have experience, I suppose that in the case of lesser-known ones you can more often come across duds 😆

Well to be fair when those artist perform badly its mostly cause they tour and then get sick or their voices just give up on them.  Or cause they forget their parts or just human mistakes so sometimes its ok cause then you know they are actually playing live and its not all just tracks but eh.

i actually did see atreyu a couple years ago at a festival, they were ok 🙂 . They actually had some beef before that for some years cause they were in hiatus and the drummer/singer made his own band called hell or highwater it had some decent songs and potential but im glad they joined back/ was able to see atreyu live atleast once.

I found it interesting that the last couple shows ive gone to they specifically have a prerecorded message to not record or upload any part of the concert. you would think bad promo would still be good promo but who knows. It is odd aswell that even shows with thousands of people without the message that yt doesnt get flooded with live shows but maybe they get copyright striked/ taked down? cause sometimes bands just dont have any live videos on yt but yknow someone must have some old footage.

Just for fun, everyone saying they are getting worse.. proof we could be a little more forgiving of our performance! Expectations vs. reality 😅😅

Yup this is why im usually not a fan of rock concerts and try to avoid them like the plague. I'll just stick to the cds/ streaming thanks xD.
There are some exceptions like festivals (cause there are so many performances that a good one can erase my memory of a bad one) or a handfull that sound better live than on cd but those are rare.

I’d thought I’d ask this…. Overtime I’ve noticed my playing is getting worse not as quick and responsive. I don’t know if it’s the Guitar and the RGT1221 isn’t right for me and might look at a AZ2402. But I’ve only mainly played Rocksmith not practising outside of the weekly songs and I think why my playing is going downhill, outside of the Championship how do you guys sharpen your skills?

How exactly are you measuring the quick and responsive though? If its by rocksmith make sure to set up the guitar in the menu everytime you switch a guitar or bass since they all have different volumes/tones that may change the detection level.

I only can speak of my experience, which is  i only pick up my guitar if i play rocksmith or try to make cdlc.

I would reccomend making cdlc / transcribing does help you understand music better and you will notice not all bands play perfectly on the dot in bpm which can be a pain to tab but may relieve you to not be so hard on yourself.

I wouldn't reccomend you to just use rocksmith so its good that you are asking others 🙂

If you do  it will be a slow grind especially if you are like me and play multiple songs instead of focusing and 100% one (quality > Quantity) . Do keep in mind, 100% is a bit false as rocksmith can be very forgiving, especially on bass. If you record yourself while playing rocksmith and get 100% you will notice that sometimes your rhythm might be ahead or behind the beat ( which is why theres good perfect late etc in score attack).

Also getting 100% isnt nesecarly the end, cause you can get 100% in a song and not remember it at all. Recording yourself is nice for a reminder of what you can do and how you did it but remember to play the songs again throughout time. If you just play to 100% once or to record yourself you are basically just cramming for a test, you wont retain most of the information cause you failed more than succeded. Memory is generally only good if you are consistant with it, if not, you will easily forget most of it.

Hence probably the best one to retain any new learnt song is to play master mode in score attack alot or just play without looking at the screen. But I am guilty myself for not doing this much but wish i had done more and would reccomend those with fewer hours to do so more to not make the same mistakes as me 🙂

and what @ drand  mentioned i think is important aswell have a clear achievable goal. Set small ones to keep you practicing and to keep the dopamine going. If you make them too large its more likely to lose focus and motivation. Kinda like videogames that reward you for doing an activity for single digit number of times. Rocksmith has some missions that might help but create your own smaller tasks.

Also little things that might help in speed in the longterm is being more proactive in general by doing other activities, playing other instruments such as piano drums etc, eat healthy (if you eat poorly your brain might not function as good as it used to), exercise, a good night sleep, maths, puzzles, create things paintings sculptures songs, learn a new language, history or other facts, read books, cooking new recipes, try anything that you wouldnt usually do blabla. A bit generic but you gotta keep the brain moving and curious, which is why i think kids actually are quick learners cause they generally do more thats new to them and different activities throughout the day.

  13. Since this weekend SHRED FEST XIV is happening i decided to take songs from the lineup. There were lots of bands to choose from and sadly not all could make it but hopefully this is a decent amount of songs.
So what is shredfest? its a twitch rocksmith streaming event that happens i believe every year? anyone can sign up to play a set of one band or you can just watch the streamers play. If you want to show some support go ahead and check it out 🙂 i think the event helps towards a charity but dont mark my words for that lol.

at the time of posting this is who is playing:

Slot 17: Sat, Apr 12, 03:00 PM CST

    Alex_el_mariachi (Dying Fetus)

All the songs will require practice as they all have some tricky parts in them.

As always letmeknow what you would rate them and we can average it out to balance the ratings.

I tried to keep it Cstandard/ Drop C to avoid alot of detuning and not too low. I added E and drop d songs to beginner though incase they cant go that low.
Ill try to find the forum on how to set up reaper+pitchproof just incase

ill also double check the winners but i think it should be good.

Hope yall have a good week /m/

deftones all the paths are fun to play and very similar just played differently on the fretboard, so i added electric callboy to give it some variety. Deftones youll probably want to rr the intro and end, i think it should be doable since "r u mine by arctic monkeys"  had some tricky parts and i think it was beginner. Electric is a bit faster than normal but it has lots of open notes so i think a beginner could get a high score as long as they alternate pick.

hangover- cool cover song. Its just a 4 chordish song since the og one is a pop song, buuut i did struggle tog et a good recognition thats why i added it in bonus. Still fun to play

atreyu- fun little riff, theres not much of a solo so i think its ok in high int.

black deliah - has some cool parts

children of bodom- peace,    was in gh WoR and was apain to play on drums but fun lol.

Contestant @ RaZrShReD  will be performing on sunday at 3pm so make sure to stop by and watch some of it 🙂
