  1. I think I'm leaning towards the Foo's then (though it's hard not to vote for It's Up To You Now... such a great solo in that one). Along with I Should Have Known, it would be awesome to have a proper version of All My Life. Next Year or Generator would be great too, but if I had my choice I'd really love to see one of either This Is A Call, For All The Cows, If Ever (from the Pretender single), or a version of Bridge Burning that doesn't crash the game and corrupt my save profile. I'm not sure if I've shared this once before already, but I found this site that has some fairly decent tabs: http://www.fftabs.com/index.php They're not all super accurate, but some of the b-sides and extras are pretty good.
  2. That's a tough choice... On one hand, it's been awhile since we had any new Keys stuff. But, I've also been trying to learn a lot of Foo's stuff lately. Any thoughts to what songs you might consider doing?
  3. That's essentially what I was suggesting. You can also try adjusting the realtone cable gain inside RS as well (which essentially does the same thing as raising the input volume in the Windows settings). You can find the realtone cable gain inside the game by going to Tools -> Options -> Audio Settings. The default value is 3.1db.
  4. I use Mac, so I'm not sure exactly where the setting would be under Win8. You should be able to find it in Control Panel under the Sound settings.
  5. Did you re-calibrate your guitar inside RS? Also, you can up the volume for the realtone cable inside the Windows settings.
  6. It's a problem with a broken Steam policy. Technically, all RS1 DLC is forward compatible with RS2014. So in the Xbox/PS3 marketplace, they don't differentiate between the two. However, because of a Steam policy that is meant to prevent users from buying DLC for games they do not own, you can't buy most of the RS1 DLC without owning RS1. Some of the RS1 DLC was updated to remove this restriction, but not all of it (in fact, not much of it). The only way around it is to buy RS1. It doesn't need to be installed, but you do have to own it in Steam. It goes on sale fairly often, and it's usually pretty cheap. I paid around $5 for it when I switched from PS3 to Mac.
  7. Unless you change the setting, Steam automatically keeps Rocksmith updated. I believe there have been at least 7 updates since the game came out, and the last one was a while ago. You can check to see if Steam is auto-updating Rocksmith (or any game) by opening Steam, clicking on Library, and then right-clicking on Rocksmith and selecting "Properties". There's a link for "Rocksmith Update History", but it doesn't actually show anything.
  8. Restart your computer, and then try using a different usb port. Also, make sure the cable is plugged into the guitar before starting the game.
  9. Before spending the money on switching to PC, you should make sure that your PC meets at least the minimum requirements to run Rocksmith. If you go to the Steam website you can search for Rocksmith 2014 and check the specs. For the best experience you'll need your PC to meet or exceed the recommended requirements instead of just the minimum. Also, Cherub Rock only came with the pre-order version of Rocksmith 2014. So you'll have to buy that as well as the game to use cDLC.
  10. Yeah, I think my inbox was full. I'm a hoarder... I never delete anything. I've cleaned it out now and I'll send you a PM with the official songbook.
  11. Holy shit, what a great show last night! Even when confined to a throne Dave can still rock harder than most people. The show was almost 3 hours long (blowing past the local curfew here) and was a really good set. The Molson Amphitheatre is a pain in the ass to get in and out of, but the acoustics there are the best of any venue I've ever been to. They did a great 3/4 length cover of Tom Sawyer (Geddy Lee's mother was at the show) as well as a cover of Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl. They also did some other covers that are part of the regular setlist and played This Is A Call, which was great. This was the 5th time I've seen them, and they never disappoint :)
  12. You don't need the Wine version that was posted here (it never worked that great anyway). All the info you need to get the Toolkit running on Mac can be found here: http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/ I would suggest sticking to an older version of the Toolkit for the time being, as some people have said that the newest 2 versions have been causing problems. Personally, I use v2.6.1.0-406125e4 without any problems.
  13. I'm not getting notifications for new updates either. Thanks for this thread though, or else I may not have noticed.
  14. Again, this is just personal opinion, but don't invest any money into the LP Jr. It just isn't worth it. The Epiphone LP Jr that was bundled with RS2014 was made as cheaply as possible for the direct purpose of bundling it with the game. It's pretty much a $100 guitar, on par with the Squier Bullet series of Strats. If you like the feel and style of your LP Jr and you want to consider a fairly inexpensive upgrade, take a look at the Epiphone Special II, or the Epiphone LP Studio.
  15. That guitar is pretty cheaply made, but it's still a decent beginner guitar. To help with the scratching noises, check your technique for holding the pick and strumming. You're likely making contact with the strings with the side of the pick, instead of the point. Just keep moving the pick in your hand, or adjusting the angle of your hand, until you find the sweet spot. You might also benefit from taking it into a guitar shop and having a setup done. A guitar's playability can be improved drastically with a proper setup. Keep in mind that an expensive guitar won't make you play better all on it's own. In fact, it can sometimes amplify bad technique and playing style and make you sound worse. You should also never buy a guitar just because you like the way it looks. Figure out your budget and then go to a guitar store and sit down and play any guitar within your budget that interests you. Then choose the one that feels best in your hands and has the features you're looking for. Talk to the people in the store and ask them some questions. Tell them what you're looking for, what you like to play, and ask for suggestions. In my personal opinion, I don't think you should buy a guitar as expensive as the C-1 as your second guitar. I would look for an intermediate level guitar ($400-600 range) and start there. I would also recommend avoiding anything with a Floyd Rose, unless you plan on actually using it. They are a pain when it comes to tuning and changing strings, especially for a beginner. For instance, if you want to detune your guitar to Eb Standard or Drop D, or any other alternate tuning, you'll quickly become frustrated with the Floyd Rose If you want to do basic bends and dives, look for something with a standard tremolo (like what a Fender Strat has). For an amp, google "practice amps" or "beginner amps" to see what options are available. Unless you want to annoy your neighbours, look for something that is 75 watts or less. Modelling amps are good choices for beginners and for home practice. They're great because they have multiple amp models and effects, all in the same amp. So you can change amps and sounds just by pressing a button. Vox, Fender, Roland, Yamaha and Amplifi all make good modelling amps. Again though, I would recommend going into a store and playing guitar with some of the amps you're considering.
  16. There are no cDLC files that are in .bin format. RS2014 customs are .psarc files, and RS1 customs are .dat files. If you're downloading .bin files then you're either a) Downloading the wrong file in the list or b ) The charter/user has uploaded an incorrect file. For Mac, you need the "_m.psarc" files. If the charter hasn't uploaded a Mac version you can download the Windows version ("_p.psarc") and convert it using the Toolkit. You can find some helpful instructions for getting the Toolkit to work on Mac here: http://customsforge.com/topic/10547-how-to-add-custom-songs-on-mac/
  17. Thanks :) I haven't actually downloaded that much yet. I've marked a bunch of tracks to download later, but mostly I've just been downloading and playing the new stuff I liked the most. Been making my way through the FF tracks that were posted though. Pretty stoked about the 2 shows coming up next week here in Toronto and was glad to see they didn't have to cancel because of Dave's broken leg :)
  18. That would be awesome :) Vacation was good, but I'm glad to be back. By the end I started to miss tv and internet, lol...
  19. I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't have any problems with it searching while I type. However, I don't access the request page by the link you sent. I always get there by clicking on "Requests" inside Ignition. That's why I assumed (incorrectly) that the Ignition settings might have an impact. So I'm not sure if it's my browser or my Ignition settings, but the request page doesn't search while I type. Though, for the devs, it should be noted that clicking on "CDLC Search" on the Request page uses the old search page, instead of Ignition.
  20. Rather than calling something "retarded" because you don't understand how it works, why not just turn off the option under the Ignition settings? It's pretty easy.

    Nirvana - Polly

@@Jorzef, I'll send you the tab books I have via PM. I played it a few more times today.... I'll have to revise my point #4 under "Bad". I forgot I was playing under my test profile, which has different venue and graphic/audio settings than my regular profile. The crowd noise and bad reverb was the crap that RS adds in. So it's not your audio. I played under my regular profile and everything sounded normal. The tone didn't sound quite as bad either, but it's still a bit too electric and bassy.

Because it had been uploaded, twice, by users who did not create it and stole it from another site. It looks like it's since been removed. This is a different version.

    Nirvana - Polly

I've played it a few times, so here's some feedback. I apologize if it sounds harsh, I tend to be blunt and not sugar coat things. First off, the good: 1. Thanks for doing your own version instead of just stealing Acid's (which at least 2 other people have tried in the past). And the bad: 1. The tone is horrible. It's too loud, and too "electric". Polly was recorded on an old nylon 12-string acoustic guitar, with only 5 strings installed. It was also out of tune on the recording (which will be all but impossible to match). 2. The tab is very incorrect. Especially the chorus. I have official tabs if you'd like. 3. The tab is out of sync, starting at the end of the second verse. 4. The audio you used sounds really bad. I'm assuming by the crowd chants that you used the Rockband version of the song. Not all of the RB songs sound bad, but the fake, over-done reverb they've applied to Polly sounds really bad. I hope the feedback helps, and I'm looking forward to any updates you release.
  24. Well it's about damn time :P Just in case you might find them useful, here's most of the official songbooks: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bfx5xnvt5e6ssaf/FF_songbooks.zip?dl=0 I have Wasting Light as well, but I haven't had time to scan it in yet (it's almost 200 pages long... damn Foo Fighters and your 7 guitar parts for each song...) I'm going on vacation for a couple of weeks, but I would gladly scan it when I get back if anybody wants it.
