I just don't have enough time to practice 2 songs in a week so just for fun, I made a cover of the beginner song from last week championship "Jesus stole my girlfriend".
It's incredible how bad it sounds
looooong way to go....
Oh i feel you! Starting out on that is like - wtf??? It feels so different out there alone without the backing guitar especially with a rather clean tone. The easy way is to go with heavy heavy sound which changes of course the whole spirit of the cover, the harder one is build up the confidence by doing it often. I like that cover a lot - please keep them coming. Going on the songs you have to play anyway is great, just sometimes they betray you as they feel so much easier in RS than they are, damn beasts.
I also don´t have time to practice other songs than the ones i have on my 3 paths so i just do my covers basically sightreading from the tab files
. . . recorded my IronMan Cover yd ... hahahaha... so much fun. Whats missing is the solo - hope i find a few ´minutes today to seal the deal.

The leaderboard is definitely missing a few scores, e.g. @ Satinuke last scores before the end of the last week.
Thanks for another week created, I could do it this week, but there was some confusion in the championship organizer's messenger and I thought @ Rodman wanted to create a selection
A small note: Alternative rhythm path of the Sam Fender song is in E Standard tuning, which I mentioned in the song suggestion.
There is a problem with React App - so i had to enter a ton of scores manually, @ avastreg is on it and when it´s working we will update last and this week of course.
@ Satinuke entered scores after i manually updated the leaderboard - those scores are perfectly fine - please enter manually as long as the system is not running. There was confusion because @ cacahuate51 took over last week and wrote his name into this week in the schedule! Thx for doing it again! I´ll do next week - or, @Mikson - if you want you can also and i take the one after.
Have a great week!!!
Rock!

My son and I sat down yesterday morning and got four takes recorded on Can't Stop. This ended up being take 4. Tones are plain guitar and bass DI to the audio interface. Drums are from Band in a Box. Both guitar and bass have EQ, compression, and saturation added. I tried out a limiting plugin on the master bus as well for a bit more richness. While my goal was to record a live playthrough, I did splice in 2 small places to cover my wrong notes and move the ending to the bass so it all resolved better. It was so cool to get to play this tune with my son! Oh, and this is recorded on his new bass, a Peavey Milestone III.
Wow! Seems you have come a long way also, Sir!
So smooth - great tones and a landmark in mixing.pfeeeeew!!! Also lovely work on that solo.So what do we do that week? You can be the first to throw the stone!

yep they look great, especially the black and white ones! which one do you have? I'm wondering for someone performing on scene, if it's better to avoid black since the audience would not see it but the white (or in general brighter colours would be more visible) but that's purely out of curiosity since I won't perform.
It's veryyyy tempting!
I just need to figure out where to hide it
so... first - this is Marcus Miller playing that eventual bass
second.... 5 years ago i wanted to finally get a decent bass and ONLY ONE
... so i was thinking Fender and diving into those a bit... and there the Sire kept showing up on and on... so i did start to investigate, learned that that absolute bassmaster that had been a signed Fender player for like 18 or 20 years wanted to aside bring up an affordable high quality bass so that people starting to play bass, students and other musicians who also wanted to own a bass didn´t have to spend a fortune.... and after starting to work with Sire and things got unexpectedly big Fender forced him to let go from the collaboration, which he did, just he quit Fender.
There is a video where he explains the instrument and the situation but beware - it made me buy the thing, just that you know. What i can say is i play that bass a lot, although back when i bought it the gears of the machineheads were made of synthetic material (been changed in the actual versions) so i got a broken dent there as the only issue in 5 years, and that not leading in any need for repair or replacement, i´d recommend without thinking twice and no-brain rebuy if destroyed or stolen.

Very nice, lovin' that acoustic sound!
2 hours ago, diceslinger said:That was fantastic! Your guitar work is so clean and feels so laid back. I think you nailed the transposition to put your voice in its best range, no struggling for notes. You have come a long way my friend!
Ah...thx - yeah - It´s just great how you can gather prof. knowledge these days - [spent hardly an hour watching yt how to record acoustic guitar.. and now i besides placing of different mictypes ttheoretically even now how to - should i ever use a DAW - how to lowpass filter, where to eq raise the mids and hights (lower the lowmids), pan 2 different mics, create rev-tracks of those and pan to the opposite side....(!)] . that helped me to capture the guitarsound a lot like it sounded in the room.
Dice, thx! As the intro is arpeggiowork (sigh) i decIded to first time not to record the guitar line in one go which led to maybe an hour of guitar recording so - a bit fake laidbackness maybe but í´m quite happy, yeah.

Nice work! i think this one is the one ive enjoyed the most so far keep them comming! I'll +1 the comment on good work with the drums are really smooth. Always surprises me how you can churn songs so fast! Inspires me to git gud.
Thank you so much!
For the speed...... well i see it from the other side... my main goal is to learn a song each week to be just able to play when there is a guitar lying around... cause end of 2024 i could play..... zero. Sooooo - i need easy versions i can remember - so i break it down to signature riff, verse and chorus, and maybe any other signature part if there is (as in that case the "under the bridge downtown..." part.... so as i have the song dissected and enslaved (what would the average jazz lover have discribed that?).... and when i have a rough idea how to play it´s already done - i can go tail to nose and just record a version with my choice of weapons and add funny things like bass et al. ...
The songs so far have been extremely grateful and straight forward for that approach... but you´ll see me fight.-

Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 596

Ride on
Heissa. Thx @ diceslinger . That was a real song there to take care off..... No acoustic. promised.
Drums midi through a sound engine, rest is me. Tries to fetch the spirit doing a lot of squealies, started out with divebombs and tried to go really terminator mechanistic on the solo.... all parts played without practice, sorry, just started at 0:00 and played one after the other repeating until i was ok with it. I really wanna come back to that and do with like 10 hours time.
So - one guitar line (incl. outrosolo impro), one bass line, sang along once, did the solo and did opening vocal. minimal mixing (volume and minimal panning).
Enjoy...?
Rod.
