  2. Hey guys, Just a quick suggestion. If everyone of you could invite some CF members who you think or know are into Prog, invite them, so we can increase our numbers and get some discussions going. I'll try to find some more charters that have already released tunes from Progressive Rock/Metal bands, so we can coordinate with them and maybe even get collaborations going. If you stumble upon any of them, be sure to invite them. :D Also, feel free to participate in the already available topics and post about your favorite Prog artists and your current playlists. I'm already preparing my posts but it takes a while to collect all the info, links and create a handy playlist for you to check out. :D Cheers, Aludog

  4. Nice list and quite a few names, I don't recognize; probably because I'm more into the Rock than the Metal site of Prog. I'll put up my list soon. I'll just have to go through my database and sort out all my favorite artists. There'll be quite a few that you'll never have heard about, I'm sure. I'll try and make a playlist as well, so you can get a taste of my favorite tracks. There'll be a new topic for that. ;)
  5. I've been trying since the SA days to get collaboration to work but it's really difficult to do, at least on a regular basis. I helped out a few charters with bass tabs here and there but I never really worked with someone else side by side on a custom. I sometimes wish I could just make transcriptions and someone would take care of the rest but I am never quite satisfied with the end result if I don't do it myself. :( The trick is to find someone who knows how you want it to be done and how it should look in RS and to set up the project in a way that you can use your collaborators project files without any issues, especially if you divide the work into equal parts: one doing the guitar, one doing the bass, for example. Being able to just stick it together without any errors is more difficult than one might think. I still hope that we can get it to work somehow, even if it's just at a very basic level. The best thing is to just get it started. We'll figure out the rest through experience. :D
  6. Let's use this topic to share our current favorites and all the proggy goodness that we're listening to on repeat because we just can't get enough of it. I'm always on the lookout for great new progressive music and I often find myself looking through the progarchives database to find any old or new stuff that I can get into. Some of you might do the same and I think it makes sense to share our findings here and discuss our current favorites, may they be well known classics that we just got into again or something totally new that just blew us away.
  7. I think this should be an interesting topic and it seems almost mandatory when talking about a genre as diverse as Prog Rock/Metal. Feel free to go beyond the classics and not to limit yourselves to one band or artist and really find the one's that you love and couldn't be without. I'll make my post when I thought about it some more because this one's really tough. And yeah, I'd say if it's in the progarchives database we can call it Prog, so check that in case you're not totally sure if it really fits in the genre description.
  8. I think the best way to approach group internal testing is to have topics for each individual charter, so that he/she can maintain the OP with his information on what he/she wants to be tested and what to focus on when testing. Members of the group can then post in the specific topic and give feedback on the currently tested customs. That seems to be the easiest and most manageable way to approach this but I'm open to discussion. Let me know what you think.

    Custom Testing

This topic is for discussing ongoing projects and testing each others customs.
  11. Yep, I use GP. I'm not sure yet which track I'm gonna work on though. I like "Call Waiting" but there's not much guitar in there. "Dollar And A Dream" might be more interesting but that's definitely gonna be a five string bass line.
  12. Here you can listen to the newest album in full length: https://jakartarecords-label.bandcamp.com/album/afropolitan-dreams I love Bandcamp!
  13. How about some Blitz The Ambassador. I just found this and thought it's real nice: I could do some bass transcriptions and if you, @ , want to transcribe the guitar parts that would be cool; if not they'll just be bass only.
  14. I'll definitely test "Long Distance Runaround". I always wanted to make it anyway but never went through with it, so I am glad you did it. Regarding scroll speed: 1.5 is the norm for me and it's used in almost all of my customs. I rarely make it faster than that but also never slower than 1.8.
  15. Well, not knowing Yes and not liking Yes are two different things. I am not a super fan either but they're an import part of prog history, so you have to at least listen to the classic albums one time to make a fair assessment and judge for yourself. ;) It's never too late to get the classics. Also, there's so many new prog rock bands, I can't keep track of all of them. Go to http://www.progarchives.com/ and you'll be sure to find everything you're looking for. I always go there if I'm looking for something new to listen to and I always find something worthwhile. :D
  16. Well, that's progressive rock for you. If you think 9 mins is long than you'll definitely have some issues with many tracks from the genre. :DFor me the 9 mins just fly by when I play this and I wish it could be longer. :( As a matter of fact, im a huge prog rock fan, hahaha. But the song felt a little long especiall halfway through, i think thats due to me more concentrating on hitting the notes and not really listen to whats going on beside the drums. It was my first run/listen to the song, have to sit back and give Yes/Chris a listen pretty soon, to say anything more. cheers! I guess, I misunderstood your meaning then but saying you don't know any Yes songs makes me doubt the validity of your claim to prog rock fandom. [emoji13] [emoji1]

  18. Nice playthrough, though you really need to use a pick if you wanna make it sound good. :D With a bit of practice you'll definitely improve. Some parts are difficult to manage without memorizing them, especially the intro and the solo in "Hold Out Your Hand" and some of the phrases in "You By My Side" but you did a good job sight reading it nonetheless. I think I'll make a video of me playing as well because this is one of those customs where it seems appropriate. :)
  19. @@jbroch Did you play Hold Out Your Hand/You By My Side already? It certainly did cheer me up a bit. I still can't believe that it was coincidence that I transcribed this song shortly before Squire passed away. It's as if I knew this was gonna happen. :(
  20. Good idea, though I don't need any customs tested right now, so you probably found some older test requests. Those customs should already be released. :)
  21. Here's the promised Chris Squire custom: Chris Squire - Hold Out Your Hand/You By My Side No guitar on this one but it would be great for a special Chris Squire bass CS.
  22. Tomorrow there'll probably be a new one, although from his solo album "Fish Out Of Water". Just finished transcribing it. :)
  23. Yeah. I just read it. A big loss for sure. :( And as if I knew this was coming, I just finished transcribing "Hold Out Your Hand/You By My Side" from his fantastic solo album "Fish Out Of Water". This can't be a coincidence.
  24. You can do all that in the "Manage Navigation" Menu. It's basically drag and drop but I think it doesn't work with the black theme, so you might have to change to the original theme to set it up.
  25. 7 on Lead for Camarillo Brillo is too high for me; I'd give it a 6. It's really not that difficult, especially if one discounts all the phrases that aren't actually played on a guitar.
