  1. You'd think, right? Well, actuallly most of my songs involve the same two or three notes played over and over for three or four minutes until the song's done. So it really shouldn't be too hard to tab. :-P
  2. At this point, from what I've read (I've done research on the big South Korean musical instrument companies), most of the components now come from China anyway. Including necks, bodies, etc. They're probably only assembled in South Korea at this point, because it just costs too much to manufacture there. My guess is that a $225 guitar was not actually made in Korea. At this point, you'd have to go higher end than that. I was never very impressed with Korean build quality anyway. The Korean guitars I've had were just fair, to be honest. On the other hand, all of the Chinese guitars I have are excellent -- like I said, they're all brand-name guitars (Hofner, Washburn, Steinberger, and a beautiful Guild acoustic, which I sold). It's all about the specifications -- the brand name companies have to be certain the quality is there, otherwise they'll destroy their brand. No-name brands don't have this pressure. Rondo/Agile aren't really a no-name brand anymore -- they have a good rep for quality. And since their margins are probably razor-thin, they most definitely have to keep an eye on quality. I think the difference between China and Korea (and Japan before) is that China could invest directly in state-of-the-art machinery, technology that didn't exist when these other countries were ramping up. And Chinese workers are amazing, even if their work conditions can be pretty lousy. These days, the really cheap, low-quality guitars are coming from Indonesia. Anyway, I ordered a guitar directly from a Chinese manufacturer a couple of weeks ago. I should have the guitar in another week or so -- no way of knowing what I'll get!
  3. Kids.. my 12-year-old can learn a riff in about five seconds. Literally. Takes me hours. Sheesh.
  4. I've had tinnitus for the last 10 years or so. For me, it's a jaw misalignment problem (the jaw backed up against the nerves in my ear, probably while singing-- and I was wearing earplugs at the time, but they weren't the fitted kind, I think they might actually have caused it). For a while it was pretty bad, but a trip to an osteopath helped a lot. But mine isn't too bad, I live quite easily with it. And my hearing's normal otherwise.
  5. Make sure you've checked the box for saving Rocksmith 2 files in the File->preferences menu.
  6. You're right, the Jefferson Airplaine song (White Rabbit, right?) is gone from the database. But I still have it on my hard drive, so I dont think it's a ghost. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet -- maybe the charter is updating it and took it down in the meantime? ( There are 14 Hendrix songs and 32 Rammstein songs in the database. And 8 Foo Fighters songs.
  7. I'm curious. Is this saved game crash happening only to people with large numbers of customs in their DLC folder? What's the smallest number of CDLCs you've had when this has happened? I'm also wondering why a specific custom would cause this crash. Were you trying to play the song when it happened? Had you recently played the song -- and was Rocksmith tracking it? By tracking, I mean, for example: right now, Rocksmith keeps asking me to get a certain percentage on a custom I have loaded. I'm not actually playing this song and I'd meant to remove it from the DLC folder, but now I'm afraid to.) It seems to me, if you haven't been actively playing a song lately, the only thing Rocksmith 'knows' about it is its album art and track info, and its preview audio. I'm just asking questions here, maybe it'll help jog someone to an 'a ha!' moment. I'm coming up on the 200 hours mark, I'd hate to lose that progress.
  8. @@MVega If you chart your own songs, let me know. I want to check it out. I wouldn't know to search otherwise but I am very intrigued by that. Spades I'll have to remember how to play them first, but will do!
  9. I was thinking of tabbing some of The Kills stuff, but I don't think it would work without proper EHX simulations. Worth experimenting with -- at least Rocksmith has a ring mod.
  10. You know sometimes when I check in here (which is a lot...it's my little break from work), I notice there are several THOUSAND people connected to the site. Very very few of these people come to contribute, they're just here to grab the customs and run. Seeing this, I can almost understand that other group of charters, who formed their own little forum to share customs but don't let anyone else in. Still, the way I look at it is this: many, if not most of the customs are created based on GPro files created by Who Cares Who long before Rocksmith was even a twinkle in Ubisoft's eye. And, of course, nearly all of the songs were created by someone else (I'm tempted to chart one or two of my own songs though, could be fun).
  11. I try to leave a comment when I download a custom -- I always forget the thanks button. That said, the customs I'm making are for me first of all -- they're songs I really want to play. Sharing them with everyone else is icing on the cake. And a bit of an ego boost for me, if I'm honest. Yes, it'd be nice to have thanks. But I see the number of downloads as being the best compliment. So if your customs are popular, take it as a compliment!
  12. Do you have an instant messenger or some sort of program running? Maybe a program trying to update itself? Some programs will take control of Windows when they run -- I have an audio converter (LAME) that does this, it runs in a command window, and takes over everything while running. Nothing I can do about that one, I just walk away while it's running. But you can try changing preferences for other programs. Try running msconfig -- look in the startup tab, also look in the services tab: you should be able to find and deactivate the culprit. All it takes is a bit of malware phoning home. Also check your Rocksmith settings -- I believe there's a setting that makes the game exclusive when running, maybe that's not checked? The patch box is normal, since you're running the patch.
  13. @@Guiagge I'd be interested in getting hold of that organ tone, if you don't mind sharing it.
  14. Oh man... not sure i can remember... I've been to probably 30 Ramones shows, maybe more, opened for them twice (HUGE thrill), seen Suicide at least a dozen times, lots of other bands from back then too (CBGBs, the Palladium, Mudd Club, Peppermint Lounge). Saw plenty of dinosaur rock too -- Aerosmith, Queen, the Who, etc. Worked at a nightclub in NYC for a while, so that makes about 300 shows that year alone... although I got kind of burnt out by concerts after that. Nowadays, I prefer watching no-name bands playing in little bars. Something about all that hard work for nothing,,, to me, that's rock n'roll.
  15. Anyway, I've just played a couple of hours this evening and had none of the glitches from last night -- not doubt there was some process running in the background causing the interference. Didn't even have the Riff Repeater bug. Still seemed to hang a bit on exit, but maybe I just never noticed it.
  16. MrVega? One of my many alter-egos. :-P
  17. I actually enjoy setting the beatmap, so I tend to do this long before I'm ready to start working on the song.
  18. For the lyrics, I find it really easy just entering them manually using EOF itself. Go to the Vocals track - right-click near the lyrics line to place the "note" -- this opens a dialogue where you can type in the phrase. Keep each phrase short - there's not much screen space for lyrics after all. You can then use the scroll function to make the "note" as long or as short as it needs to be to match the music. After you've placed the lyric you have to mark them -- ctrl-M (I think) does this. Marking them makes the lyrics turn color as the song reaches them. You can mark two shorter phrases together -- select both before marking them. This places them on the same line, but keeps the 'bouncing ball' effect of the lyrics turning color. NOTE: if a lyric isn't marked, it won't show up in the game. (My guess is the words that don't show up in the video somehow didn't get marked). EOF does all I need for lyrics -- I think it also supports more advanced functions (using dashes or whatever) that allow you to sync the lyrics exactly to the song. But that's really for karaoke enthusiasts. For Rocksmith's purposes, you just need the lyrics to show up. For the Tone problem, did you rename and then save the tone and then reassign the tone to the arrangement? I find the way the Toolkit handles this a bit confusing, because not only do you have to save the tone with its own name as a separate file, but you also have to give it the same name as the name the tone uses in your arrangement. So if, in EOF, the tone is called BassLead, it has to be named BassLead in the Toolkit as well (this isn't as much of an issue if you're not using tone changes). In GuitarPro you can add lyrics as text in the track itself (I do that to help me keep track of where I am in the song). It's possible those were imported when you said yes to importing the file's events. You can delete them easily enough in GuitarPro -- click on the note where the text begins, chose 't' -- this should open a dialogue with the lyric line, just erase that. (Of course, you might be having a different issue). I agree that Shift-Clicking is difficult. A big problem I have is that I find it very difficult to know when a note has been selected -- the difference between the non-selected and selected states isn't obvious enough for me (I'm partly colorblind, which doesn't help). So I end up left-clicking a couple of times to make sure I've selected the note before pressing the shift key. Strangely, once a group of notes has been selected, it's easier to see.
  19. I'm not convinced about the "Further improved general game stability", since my game took a hit after the patch installed. Unless you really need these fixes, I'd recommend holding off on updating for a bit.
  20. Ì just checked, mine is at .260.519 as well.
  21. Maybe there should be a dialogue that pops up when you try to import a GP file. Something like: "Warning: For best results, create a beatmap BEFORE importing/arranging notes. For information on creating a beatmap, see: (link to information)" With an OK and Don't Show This Again option to close the dialogue.
  22. As a rule, never look too closely at anything handmade. The art of craftsmanship is all in hiding one's mistakes.
  23. No one's mentioned a patch on the Ubisoft forum, which they usually do.

    Frustrated

You meant the Grateful Dead video? I've always found them annoying, but not offensive. Well, some of their fans could be pretty offensive back in the day. Their smell, that is. :-P
  25. I didn't notice the update taking place, but I did notice that the game was running kind of rough -- weird audio glitches, shaky video, bumps and hesitations, and a long pause when trying to exit the game -- a few seconds, almost like it had crashed (I could still see the main menu screen, overlaid with the exit dialogue). And for the first time in a while, the Riff Repeater bug (where playback will suddenly jump to 100% speed, no matter what speed it's set to) was back. Damn. Rocksmith's been running really smoothly for me since the December patch. Hope they're not breaking it.
