  1. Guitar Hero with a real guitar? wut?
  2. lol number of levels USED to be important in the beginning. More levels meant a faster highway speed, but then the toolkit allowed for a customizable scroll speed so that was no longer relevant in that sense.
  3. Also, you CAN enter fingering info on single notes, but not for showing anything ingame. It's used when auto-generating hand positions. Anything with a fingering of 1 tells the fret hand position generator to anchor down on that fret.
  4. Looking forward to more fingerpicking songs while I still have nails. CTRL+SHIFT+H is used for the handshape feature. If you are holding a chord and hitting the notes individually this is used like at 1:48 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE1OXfwskbA#t=1m48s If you're not holding down a chord and just want to show fingerings for all single notes, keep in mind Rocksmith official songs don't do this probably cause it's a bit messy. But I suppose it would work if you CTRL+SHIFT+H each note individually. EDIT: Tried it, doesn't work. Handshape doesn't work when only 1 note is involved.
  5. If you only had that ascii tab, you are not able to import or copy paste anything into GP. You have to create the guitar pro file by entering the chords, one by one. That ascii tab does not give you any timing information. You'd have to listen to the song ask yourself when entering each note "is this a whole/quarter/eight/etc note?".
  6. Yup, lot's of guitar pro imports. If by "regular tab" you mean ascii tab without any timing info in it, then yeah, those usually get CREATED in guitar pro, then IMPORTED into EOF (although again, you could just skip guitarpro and enter the notes directly into EOF). Jump four posts up for a description on how to create notes in EOF. You'd enter notes one by one and fill in the fret/handshape/etc information given to you from your ascii tab. If this seems like a bit too much at once, back up a bit and check out the uploaded songs in the search. Find a song you know really well like the back of your hand. To keep things simple, find one without DD, looks well done in the playthrough video, and doesn't have a lot of crazy technical stuff going on. Unpack it and import it into EOF (search how to unpack). Now you have a completed project you can examine. Press F1 to bring up a keyboard shortcut list and click help to read the built in tutorial.Press the space bar to listen to it, and maybe that will clear everything up how a song should look.
  7. When you have a guitar pro file you can import stuff easily. If you only have an ascii tab from the internet/pdf/magazine, yeah, a lot of work is involved.
  8. If you choose to enter directly into EOF, this is how it is done. (If you like to hear playback of the notes while editing, stick with guitarpro) Before you do anything, you need a beatmap. FYI one has already been ripped by the people at the frets on fire website (you have to register to view): http://customsforge.com/topic/2882-the-third-way-to-chart-customs-with-guitar-herorockbandpsfrets-on-fire-templates/ After you have your beatmap while on the PARTREALGUITAR or PARTREALGUITAR22 arrangement right click where the first note should go on the grid. Press f to bring up an entry box with 3 columns. The first column is where you will enter the chord. In the second column enter which fingers you use to play the chord. In the third column check the boxes if you want to mute the string with your left hand. Do this for every note, but once you complete a riff you can copy/paste it as much as you like.
  9. Eh? Maybe I'm missing something but that is exactly what it should look like. How do you want it to look?
  10. I've seen plenty of customs where pdf's were recreated in guitar pro, or created the guitar pro from scratch. You could also bypass guitar pro and enter directly into EOF if you want to. Another source people choose are songsterr.com and jellynote.com.
  11. Click one of the XXX mute chords and press F. What does the edit frets/finger box show? This can tell you why it is jumping down the fretboard. If you want to get rid of those position changes just seek to each one, press SHIFT+F and erase them. Or, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+F to bring up a list of all the changes at once.
  12. I would check this list (you have to register at another site): http://customsforge.com/topic/2882-the-third-way-to-chart-customs-with-guitar-herorockbandpsfrets-on-fire-templates/ If the song has already been done in Rock Band or Guitar hero, the beat map has already been made. You can use it, import the tab, and everything should be in sync.
  13. Great tips and lots of stuff covered here. Thanks.
  14. Looks like MegaRan is gonna be there. If anyone is going be sure to check him out. He always puts on a good show.
  15. It may be easier for you with a slower playback. Press Edit-Playback-Rate and check 75%. If you don't like the way it sounds you can click Time Stretch to switch between normal and lowered pitch.
  16. Yeah, like Alain said it would be cool to start of with something easy to get a feel for things, and then move on to the harder stuff. Did you know there are a billion songs where the beat map is already finished for you? Check out the topic: http://customsforge.com/topic/2882-the-third-way-to-chart-customs-with-guitar-herorockbandpsfrets-on-fire-templates/ Back to the song you are working on; A red arrow is an anchor. It means you can fiddle with the rest of the chart and that beat will never move. A grey arrow means you haven't touched that beat. It is not anchored down and will adjust itself if you move a future beat without an anchor in between. If you move the very first beat every beat marker will move with it, even if you anchored stuff down. So don't move that one after you've started beat mapping unless you have a good reason.
  17. If you choose to go the manual route it shouldn't be necessary to adjust every single beat. Since this is your first time beat-mapping I'd keep it simple and align every other measure (1 out of every 8 beats). In many cases the stuff in between will fall into place.
  18. Just checking; did you add leading silence to your song? If so, did you load the new longer audio file into Ultrastar rather than the original?
  19. Packing was almost the same for RS1, except the audio files needed to use an older version of Wwise and audio preview files weren't needed. Mostly it's just fill in the boxes of the toolkit for whatever it's asking and press generate.
  20. Just to get started: You can create your riffs in guitar pro and import them into the program EOF. EOF needs an audio file first before you can do anything. You can create a click track in audacity (Generate - Click Track - Export to OGG), or you can you use an silent audio file (Generate - Silence). If you use a silent audio file you can add a click track using the Rocksmith Toolkit. If you don't wanna use guitar pro you can enter your riffs directly into EOF. Make sure you click Song- Track - PartRealGuitar22. If preferences (F11) - input mode - piano roll are set to Classic Mode you drop notes on the fretboard by right clicking on the string and pressing F to enter the fret number. There's a lot more to shortcuts and stuff so just click help for more info. That's just how to create the chart. How to pack everything into Rocksmith 1 I don't remember :( because everyone's moved on to 2014.
  21. Are you only a little bit below the pitch? You could probably tune the bass a little bit higher (don't go nuts and break the string).
  22. The above post is a better option. Even if you are playing a bass guitar, select the guitar part. At the tuning screen, play the 12th fret on the each string instead of open notes. When you hit the green string play the 16th fret on the D string. To pass tuning for the purple string play the 21st fret on the D string. If your intonation is all whack and the tuner keeps saying you are too low, put a little bit of bend into the string and you'll raise the pitch. Now you can jam along with the track (and miss all the notes of course)
  23. Like, you only have a bass and you want to view guitar arrangements? Guitars can play both Guitar and Bass arrangements, but Basses can only play Bass arrangements. You could unpack everything and view the notes outside the game using Editor On Fire software. Or you could use the CDLC to Guitar Pro converter and view the tabs that way.
  24. http://www.fretsonfire.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=57010 Multitracks ripped from Guitar Hero / Rock Band When you mix the oggs just leave out the vocals. Can't view unless you register.
