  1. In the PDF every note in those measures are eighth notes. In the GP file you have 4 quarter notes (plus four eighth notes) per measure, which is exceeding the measure length.
  2. Took a few SA tries at MC bass to see how high I could get. Still some room for improvement (obviously, as someone's above me on the leaderboard), but I'm pretty happy with this. http://i.imgur.com/Z5yUZdd.jpg I expect I'll get beaten by score here, though.
  3. Got the 100% on MC advanced bass http://i.imgur.com/DOR7G9t.jpgTook more tries than I'd have liked (including a few restarts). Silly open notes making things hard to read. As per @@2groggy, that was actually advanced. Oops. Well, in my opinion, it's harder. I actually did play MC though, and also 100%ed it. Not a SA, so I'll need to update that. http://i.imgur.com/ucP0vNx.jpg As for Christmas songs, here's one that I'm pretty confident no one else will know of. In what I'm sure will be a shock to many, it's long and it's metal. And given that I posted a version of it this morning, here's Christmas in LA by Vulfpeck.
  4. MC bass update: http://i.imgur.com/T2mVv0j.jpgAnd phrase status. Didn't do great for the most part on the slap parts, and missed a bunch of pops for some reason (including some I'm still pretty sure were accurate. Enough to make that 7th phrase, which is part of the finger/pop mix, yellow). Still pretty happy with this, especially as I couldn't practice as much as I'd have liked due to tearing open a hangnail on my middle finger at some point due to the popping.
  5. A lot of this stuff can be done avoiding the menus, as the keyboard shortcuts are generally much quicker. For hammer-ons, it's just "h", for slides down it's "Ctrl+downarrow", for palm muting it's "M", and there are lots of other keyboard shortcuts around. Learn to use them and they'll save you a lot of time. Now that that's out of the way... 1) For hammer ons, use the hammer-on toggle. Notes tagged as tapped will display as tapped notes in Rocksmith, and it would be confusing seeing those (though it shouldn't matter too much for note detection). 2) For chord slides, I think the current logic is to base things off of the lowest fret in the chord. If you want to do individual slides for each string then you'll want to use tech notes. 3) Like I said above, just select the note and press M to do it faster.
  6. Some updated scores. MC bass: http://i.imgur.com/gqmx3Kv.jpgSucking less at slap, via modifications to the techniques of both hands. Was getting misses on accurate pops, but I think I figured tuning my D and G strings a little flatter fixed that. Adv (?) rhythm: http://i.imgur.com/zDd3VZL.jpgLike I said earlier, I don't really feel like this is all that difficult, and I'm not really sure it would deserve to be in MC over Ohio. Don't really know which is harder, though, as they test different skillsets. With mine, I'd probably consider Ohio harder. Edit: Also played Mr. Jones on bass. Grr, @
  7. OK, so I think the bass on Working Man is mostly there. Might still have a few wrong notes, though. Some of the slides in particular might be off. If you want to try an early test version (bass only with the isolated bass audio), the .psarc, tab, and isolated bass audio are here (edit: updated .psarc and tab to new versions, fixing some slides and a few wrong notes). I've also been syncing some other things. At the moment, I've got these done syncing (so hopefully I'll be able to finish them off): Nevermore - The Seven Tongues of God, 42147, Beyond Within, The Death of Passion, Dreaming Neon Black, Poison Godmachine, No More Will. A few others with 7-strings looked like they might be doable too, but obviously mean more work. Coroner - Arc-Lite, Coma, R.I.P., Reborn Through Hate, Semtex Revolution, Shadow of a Lost Dream, Son of Lilith, Status: Still Thinking. Have tabs and audio for some more, but will probably wait to see how these are received before going to work on them. Symphony X - Smoke and Mirrors, Of Sins and Shadows. A couple of classics that I hadn't gotten to yet. Iced Earth - Stormrider. Also going to work on Angel's Holocaust and Pure Evil. Misanthrope - 2666. Not expecting this to be well received because probably very few people have heard of this band. I randomly saw this in the queue on UG and thought it looked interesting. Pretty cool, somewhat jazzy tech-death (or some other brand of death. And is that one riff around 1:45-2:00 played with slap?) Between the Buried and Me - Alaska, Mordecai, and Obfuscation. Might also work on some other things, but I think short term my focus will be on getting these things finished.
  8. *Remembers to put in Pantera as a joke* *Forgets to put in Dragonforce* Not to mention some other pretty significant bands. Thanks for the catches, @@Teinashu!
  9. @@Humby - The problem with that is that they try to make it so that each DLC song has something for everyone while requiring a minimum of investment. Sure, some of the DLC require capos or heavier gauge strings, but those are things you can get for a few dollars, while extra pieces of a drumset will be much more expensive. Same reason why, although it's something I'd like to see very much as a custom creator, I doubt there will ever be support for 7 or 8 string guitars or 5 or 6 string basses (well, the basses you can sneak into the game as is). Anyway, for something I'd like to see that wouldn't be too unreasonable... some sort of "let ring" indicator for things where you have notes ringing out over other ones. The arpeggio indicator can sort of play this role now but it doesn't really work if there's a hammer-on or other note change on a string. The current practice in official DLC seems to be with notes sustaining past each other, which I find much harder to read than it would be if we were just told to let the notes ring.
  10. Another big metal genre topic. As usual, let me know if I've missed anything, and I'll update it. If you are uploading or updating a song in these genres, it would help to link to this post so that others can find similar music more easily. Thanks! I'll try to update the main lists at least once a month. Power Metal Alestorm (36 songs) Angra (11 songs) Avantasia (12 songs, many bass only) Blind Guardian (41 songs) Bloodbound (2 songs) Demetori (10 songs) Demons & Wizards (3 songs) Dragonforce (20 songs) Dream Evil (8 songs) Edguy (10 songs) Elvenking (2 songs) Falconer (5 songs) Galneryus (7 songs) Gamma Ray (4 songs) Gloryhammer (7 songs) Hammerfall (32 songs) Helloween (36 songs) Iced Earth (39 songs) Kamelot (22 songs) Masterplan (3 songs) Manowar (19 songs) Pantera Powerwolf (18 songs) Primal Fear (4 songs) Rage (1 song) Riot (4 songs) Running Wild (3 songs) Russell Allen and Jorn Lande (1 song) Sabaton (71 songs) Sanctuary (3 songs) Secret Sphere (2 songs) Seventh Wonder (11 songs) Sonata Arctica (30 songs) Stratovarius (13 songs) Theocracy (5 songs) Tierra Santa (22 songs) Unleash the Archers (3 songs) Symphonic Metal After Forever (6 songs) Catamenia (11 songs) Dark Moor (5 songs) Delain (18 songs) Dimmu Borgir (4 songs) Epica (62 songs) Fleshgod Apocalpyse (3 songs) Lacrimosa (1 song) Luca Turilli ('s Rhapsody) (2 song) Nightwish (61 songs) Rhapsody (of Fire) (6 songs) Serenity (1 song) Septicflesh (3 songs) Therion (10 songs) Turisas (9 songs) Wintersun (4 songs) Within Temptation (12 songs) Xandria (5 songs)
  11. Guitar stuff: Adv lead: http://i.imgur.com/QiVgMJw.jpgShould be able to improve a lot. At full speed my picking hand gets confused a lot and my fretting hand sometimes gets confused which string is which when switching to the F and C chords for some reason. MC lead: http://i.imgur.com/tV2cuqo.jpg I don't get these solos at all. This was my best run by a few % so far, but I'm not entirely sure why. Might have capitalized on the few parts of the solo I can follow, or it might have been that I was damn near spotless in the verse and chorus (while my longest streak was only 96, I think I had at least a few over 50). Not sure how much I can improve from here. Adv rhythm: http://i.imgur.com/1kSzEFF.jpg Oddly enough the times I've played it since I've done worse. I think because my fretting hand gets tired and then starts messing things up during the repeats of the chorus at the end. But this doesn't really seem that hard. Probably will also give Mr. Jones a few more serious goes than my first playthrough, as that didn't go especially well. Edit: Gave Mr. Jones some more serious goes. Didn't actually do any riff repeater to get here. http://i.imgur.com/Q7uixRg.jpg Also, kind of funny that both this and Ohio have both C and F chords. Don't remember having seen too many other songs with F chords, and for some reason I feel like it's been a while since I've had to do many C's. Now for MC bass: http://i.imgur.com/SnSRIul.jpgChallenging myself to do this on my six string bass, as I've never really been able to do slap on it before. Tighter string spacing and greater number of strings makes it a bit harder to pick out the right strings or to sound good. Anyway, put in some practice and got a decent amount better, but still not amazing. @@Gamut - Nooooooo! No chance of a well timed Christmas present?
  12. @@Chicco - Had a look at some Nevermore tabs again, and found some more that are on 6 string, plus a few others that should be workable with pitch-shifting. Won't promise any particular songs since you can always find out tabs are crappy late into the project, but there should be at least a few that work out. On Working Man I'm now down through the beginning of the instrumental section and from the end of the instrumental section through to the very end of the outro. The unison riffs in the instrumental sections are probably OK now, too, but I haven't checked them carefully. I think I can handle most of the instrumental section, but a couple of parts that I'm not sure I can get myself are -The high fill between 2:47 and 2:48 of the isolated bass audio. It's pretty damn quick (10 notes in that second) and I'm not sure I can cheat my way using Audacity to plot the spectrum since it needs a certain amount (though maybe I can have Audacity change the tempo to stretch each note out sufficiently). -The very end of the outro (7:05-7:13 or so). Notes ringing out make it a little hard for me to figure out what's going on. If someone could help with those (@@Aludog? @?) I should be able to handle the rest.
  13. While a lot more of it is slap than notated, I don't think it's all slap. A decent amount of it's an unusual hybrid of normal finger-style with pops. Check out this guy's bass cover, which looks and sounds pretty legit:
  14. Here's a rehost of Ohio with the rhythm guitar tuning fixed. This was just done by importing the package and then changing the tuning, so it probably hasn't fixed the chord names, but it should at least fix the sounds. Won't be able to check it out myself for a few hours.
  15. @@Mortalo - While lack of handshapes is just cosmetic, it's pretty silly to have to take a screenshot of a chord in order to figure out how to finger it. It might not be an essential consideration for advanced or MC, but I'd argue it definitely should be one for beginner and probably intermediate. And it's another thing that can detract from a CDLC's quality that often gets overlooked. Also, you completely sidestepped the issue of the tuning. I'm now almost absolutely sure the tuning for the rhythm track of Ohio is wrong. A#6/A is a weird chord and doesn't match any chord I've seen in the song charts.
  16. Been a while since I updated this since I've been pretty busy. Now that the holidays are close, I should have some time to work on some projects. Here are some things I'll be trying to work on. BtBaM multitracks for Mordecai, Alaska, and Obfuscation. These are synced and mostly arranged, but not polished. Multitracks for Working Man (by Rush, of course), since I have them and the bass on the other customs is pretty far off (as was the case with the GP I'm working with). I've been using the isolated bass audio to tidy up the bass track. At this point I have the non-solo, non-outro stuff done, but those sections still need work. If anyone would like to help out with this, it would be greatly appreciated, and all of the files are here. Many Coroner (technical thrash) songs. At this point I've got a handful of them synced up, but haven't done anything past that. Might also try to do some other thrash bands that have been somewhat neglected. Prog stuff. Haven't decided what things I'll try to do yet, but making the progressive rock genre page reminded me of how much awesome stuff is still missing. I also have multitracks for a few Andromeda (prog metal) songs. Vulfpeck - Christmas in LA. I've found both a text tab and a score, so it shouldn't be too much trouble to finish it up. Also will hopefully do some tidying up of some older releases, adding lyrics to some, and so on.
  17. I have some criticisms of some of these customs. Not sure if any of them except the tuning issue on Ohio are fatal, but here goes. Love in an Elevator: Bass is not great. The sustained D played over the G chord in the second part of the verse sounds off. Might be the higher G that's supposed to go there? Riff under the pull-offy guitar riff around the second solo is also way off - you can hear the bass playing other stuff under that. Also, on guitar the slides suck. Ohio: On lead, the sync of the first lead part (third and fourth sections, after the intro) is way off. Might be the notes aren't in the right places rather than a sync issue. Later leads seemed fine from what I could tell. On rhythm, some of the chords don't have handshapes. I noticed this with the A#6/A chord or whatever it was, as I paused to check the fingering once the initial chord pane went away and I was left with just repeat panes with no handshape. Lastly, the intro part is the same on both lead and rhythm, despite the fact that they have different tunings and notes on the relevant strings. Is rhythm also supposed to be in double drop D? I probably should be able to answer this with my ears, but it's probably better someone like @ tests it out, both with better playing and better ears.
  18. Edited the original post with a section that lists some of the bands that seem under-represented on here. The links go to UG, either the overall, power, or pro tabs section, depending on which has the bulk of the tabs and whether things get too diluted by text tabs. I hope this gives some of our magna charters ideas for new things to work on.
  19. @@PC Plum - Just did as you suggested and it downloaded a working .zip archive of the right size (~2MB, while the other one was 44KB) and with the right files. Weird.
  20. I think on the last version I uploaded (with the ignores), they don't factor into your accuracy %, but they do factor into the song mastery %, so I think @@Rodman's score is still valid. Didn't like that though, so I reverted to doing it without the ignores. Anyway, a somewhat crappy playthrough vid will be incoming. Not as good at playing while standing up, and I'm not really sure how to make things work with me on video while sitting down. Edit: Video! Regarding difficulty scores, here's roughly how I would rate the guitar parts: Harvester Rhythm: 7 the "signature riffs" are definitely tricky to get at full speed, and the harmony section also isn't easy, but otherwise it's pretty easy and those tricky parts seem to me more an issue of practicing the riffs carefully rather than needing to acquire new skills. Harvester Lead: 8 Solo isn't terrible, but you'll probably miss some notes among the bends and slides. The harmony section is a bit harder than on rhythm because of extra string skipping. Locust Rhythm: 9 or 9.5 Consistently challenging, whether because of the picking hand speed and accuracy or fretting hand mobility required, but none of the individual challenges are worthy of a 10, and together they fall a bit shy. Locust Lead: 10 Most of the challenges of the rhythm path, with a significantly more technical prechorus, a harder chorus, a harder harmony section, and some ridiculous solos.
  21. @@SmellsLikeMonkey - Just checked it out and it downloads fine, but when I try to open it with 7zip it says it can't open it as an archive or that it's invalid. @@raynebc, can you open the zip on your end?
  22. Another small update to Harvester. Improved the lyrics (sync, sustains, and lines) and added ignore status to the sustain chord at the end of slides. Will try to do a playthrough video tomorrow morning before the week ends. Anyway, here are my final (at least for this week. I'll try to remember to come back to this one when I'm in a nearby tuning) results on Locust. Rhythm: http://i.imgur.com/oMalSbv.jpgPretty good run. A little sloppier than my best on the first half, but I think this was by far my best rhythm run on the second half (though still sloppier than I'd hoped under the solos. Don't get why I have so much trouble with that riff. Also sloppy on the harmony before the solos). Combine this with my best run on the first half (where I was rock solid, then had a disastrous second half) and I think I'd have gotten close to 95%. Edit: I think @@fiddlesticks's Harvester of Sorrow rhythm score got copied over to Locust rhythm. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit that with practice. Lead: http://i.imgur.com/ZwvTYC1.jpgWas able to get up to speed (though still pretty sloppy) on the prechorus riff, and given that accounts for ~400 notes in the song, it made a big difference. During the crazier parts of the solos I pretty much just picked out what notes repeat a lot and when and tried to make sure I hit those. Overall effort probably didn't sound too much like the actual solo.
  23. @@Aludog - Yeah, it was a little bit surprising how little we have of some of the biggest bands. Obviously with progressive rock some songs are worth much more than others and you often need pretty good tabs and skills to get a decent sync, but it's still surprising how little there are from some. Could have made a whole other list of things that I originally wrote in to the list only to realize we didn't have any songs of theirs on here. No Caravan, no Can, little Camel, and that's just the C's!
  24. This is a huge genre, so I'll be sure to miss some bands. To start with, I'm just going to post some of the bands that have highly rated albums on progarchives and rateyourmusic. If there are any that you feel deserve to be here, let me know and I'll update the list. If you have any suggestions on how to group things, they'd be appreciated. Also, if you update any progressive rock CDLC, it might make sense to link to this post so users can more easily find other prog rock that isn't on the front page. 25. MC rhythm update: http://i.imgur.com/pccTu4m.jpgNot a bad run, but I should be able to do better. Strike was from under the solo when shifting to the yellow string, as somehow my picking hand got lost and took a few measures to recover ! Feel like with more practice and if everything were to go smoothly I could get to 95% on this, but that's probably a bit optimistic given that I haven't yet solved detection on the drop power chords (though I think I'm doing a little better on them). None of the riffs on rhythm are ridiculously hard, but pretty much none of them (except like, the intro) are gimmes for me. MC lead: http://i.imgur.com/YlxCjQm.jpg So, parts of this are really hard. The pre-chorus is a bit too fast for me as or right now, playing the harmonies even higher up on the fretboard makes me even more uncomfortable, the chorus riff seems to require more shifting (and gets me confused since I know the chorus in rhythm better). And then there are the solos
