  1. RSI? lol Edit: I'm officially renaming it The RSI Song. You mean "Repetitive Strain Injury"... like to my liver? I can just imagine someone's mother nagging "It's all fun and games until someone loses a liver - then it's the music industry"
  2. Pop Quiz! Can anyone guess why 2groggy hasn't worked on improving The Riverboat Song, as planned this week? a) Old friends were in town last night, so he went out for BEvERages? b) Ex-coworkers got together after work tonight, so he went out for BEvERages? c) @@JamesPrestonUK created 2groggy's new most favourite ever CDLC d) all of the above No offense, Riverboat Song, but you just can't compete with the sudden surprises of this week.
  3. I love the groove on this one. I don't normally do this, but this week I may drive myself crazy chasing perfection. The Riverboat Song on bass, after an hour in RR = 99%
  4. I have a busy week coming up, so I'll just deposit these early attempts here and try the other songs if I get a chance: Nutshell on bass For the Greater Good of God on bass
  5. @noons - i didn't see a percentage accuracy at the end of that video. (nice run through BTW) I'm at 99.56% on And She Was - two misses. Has anyone played Dirt on bass? While RS recognized my notes, I really can't hear myself in the mix. Does everyone have that problem? Or am I just old and deaf? Or both? Edit - never mind, I cross posted with the artist formerly known as @frippchen and see that it doesn't matter.
  6. My start for this week... I spent about half an hour in RR for each of these And She Was on bass = 98.9% - RS didn't like my timing on the open D strings. I'll work on it. You'll Never Walk Alone on bass = 100% I had a few late notes but RS forgave me. I'll work on that too.
  7. I think that @@Mortalo took a trip in the wayback machine. :D Anarchy in the UK on bass = 99% TimeWarp on bass with significantly less success 84%
  8. I'm just not interested this week. I scored 100% on Pink a few days ago and didn't even bother posting it. I won't bother with any of the other bass tracks this week, so I'd better post it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=754073109 See you next week
  9. Started on Rollover DJ on bass. After half an hour in RR, I've got my 99%. Now I'll move on to Panterra.
  10. I already had one of my basses tuned to D standard, so I figured "What the hell, I'll co back and play Ghost". After a few tries at different speeds I made it up to 98%. I'm not too fond of this track so I'll probably go back to Body Bag tomorrow
  11. My gradual climb to improve my score has begun. I'm up to 96% on bass for Body Bag. I pressed [F12] a little late, but the score still shows in the bottom left. I just realized that I never explained why I skipped over the advanced bass track. I lump Baby Metal in with all of the sickly sweet and overly cute Japanese girl bands (none of which seem like rock and roll to me). If I am given the choice of being seen watching cute Japanese girls dance around singing syrupy sweet crappy music, or being seen watching fat guys sing about necrophilia, I consider Body Bag to be the lesser evil. And you never know who is watching.
  12. Being the FreeBird that I am, I am exercising my right to swoop into the bass master class clubhouse like a seagull, make irritating noises, steal any unprotected food and leave a nasty deposit like this. As usual, the RS score seems unduly generous to me.
  13. I haven't taunted the FreeBird police in several weeks, and the beginner selection on bass gives me the perfect chance. Whoever tabbed out the bass track needed a low D so they chose Drop D tuning. Unfortunately that forces them up the neck to higher frets on the low D string. When tabbed in D standard tuning, the bass line can be played with more use of open strings and never higher that the 5th fret. There is, however, more string skipping to get to higher notes. So this week, I will start with the Arctic Monkeys on bass in D standard tuning, transposing on the fly. So far, I'm only at 99.7% Take that FB Police.
  14. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=739713828 Servitude on bass at 95%. RS is far too forgiving.
  15. Black Velvet on bass after 30 mins in RR >99%
  16. IT'S ALIVE !! My 25 year old computer is alive. Every single part, including the case has been replaced at least three times, but it's still my 25 year old computer. Oh, wait... some of the dust might be original. I've just gotten the system running, so I've only done sight reads on bass on Simple Minds and Soda Stereo. The Simple Minds track is one of those where RS can't tell good from bad. I scored 99.9 %, but I'm sure that it sounded like crap. I just didn't have the triplet pattern down and RS can't seem to sense that. I'll try it with a pick when I get a moment and see if I feel better about the result. For Soda Stereo, I scored 95.6% and can certainly improve that with some work in RR.
  17. I tried it on an MS Surface 3 with Intel Atom 7 processor - It didn't work. Even with all of the advanced video settings disabled to improve performance, the song would bog down after about one minute.
  18. Dammit - the processor on the tablet can't run RS at speed, even with all of the advancd video options disabled. If I have problems resurrecting the desktop PC, I'll have to jailbreak the PS3.
  19. My desktop PC cratered during a brief power outage yesterday. The lights are on but nobody is home. I've managed to install Steam on my tablet, so I can get to my screen shot of Brothers in Arms on bass = 98% I'll try to get RS working on the tablet too, but I doubt that it has the processing power. You might not hear much more from me this week as I wrestle with technology.
  20. I've built a guitar or two from kits, and then bult a number of basses based on purchased necks. My first thought is that bolt on necks are suggested for beginners because they allow shims and adjustments to get the alignment perfect. Set necks take much more effort to remove and repair. My second though is that finishing is the toughest skill to perfect compared to the woodworking and electronics. You may want to set these projects aside until you try assembling a kit build. It may not the guitar of your dreams, but you will learn the skills to rescue the other two projects.
  21. I made it up to 99.5% on La isla bonita on bass. I've always found casing a perfect score in a limited time to be more frustrating than beneficial, but I'll see how far I get.
  22. I managed to put another 45 minutes in on RR for La isla bonita on bass and am up to 98%. It still sounds sloppy, so it needs a lot more work, but this is shaping up to be a busy week. We'll see if I can make it to 99.5%.
  23. Cut finger? food poisoning? hospital stay? What are we talking about here?
  24. Try this... play the main riff arpegios ( C#m, B, C#m, C#m) as tabbed, but for the other bits, play the G# on the D string 6th fret instead of G string 1st fret. That turns a lot of the moving up and down the neck into tighter root-5th patterns. You can keep your fretting hand in the same shape and just move it around like playing barre chords. I've spent an hour in RR at speeds under 90% playing with fingerings and this one works best for me. My accuracy is pretty good at those speeds - about ten misses for the entire song, but at full speed, I only get 91% accuracy. So tomorrow, I'll head back to RR for more practice at 90% speed.
  25. Here's my start for the week - Sight reads on bass for Wild Flower and I Wanna Rock I won't bother making second passes of either of these and will move on to the advanced track.
