  1. So I had planned to do a theme week but ran out of time to finish the selection...instead, I'm saving that for next week and doing a (mostly) Da Capo week, with a few adjustments and one addition on the Bass path. The Leprous song is D Drop C and the bass doesn't start until like 40 percent through the song, and the Amorphis song is more like difficulty 5.5 to me for bass, so I made those Int Bonus and Int, respectively, and added Jenny Was a Friend of Mine for Advanced...a classic bassline. I don't know if the lead/rhy ratings are accurate since I play bass only.

Apologies for the low tuning - didn't realize when I picked Week 269 that it would end up that way.

  3. Cool song, not sure how I missed the note(s) at the end:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

The game design for B-K is nice but I've always hated the music and sound design and this was like torture to play (also the tone is maybe the worst I've ever heard):

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

This is...not a 5 difficulty. I have a 5 string so no issues tuning down. It's a challenging chart, at least a 7 IMO and probably more like a 7.5:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Love me some Mastodon, and the outro to this one is fantastic:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Wish I had more time to improve my Seabeast score and maybe get plays of the MC song and the Death album in...but I'm doing a lot more World Cup watching than practicing these days.

  4. I guess since it's Tuesday we're sticking with the original selection. That's fine with me as I really enjoy the Toto song. My first takes:

    Probably a 4.5ish but I don't think it's too crazy for beginner:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Not the finest of The Cure's catalog  (note: @ cacahuate51  The Cure's best album IMO is Disintegration if you want to give them a proper chance). Also possibly easier to play than Sleazy Bed Track, but it's overall solid:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

I'm relatively familiar with Toto's music but somehow hadn't heard or played this before. I really like it:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Glad to see this picked as I had just added it and a few other Blu DeTiger tracks to the bass only tab. There are a fair number of songs in my library that still kick my ass, but only a select few remain fun while doing so. Great example here:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

  5. Cool, unique bassline, and even better with the solo (thanks @ cacahuate51 !). Definitely not beginner level IMO, it's repetitive but very challenging to keep a streak going on the main riff:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

I love what I've heard and played from the new Muse album. This is no exception:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

    Second run was better:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

And I'll post my Bigmouth score with a high probability that I'll do better with the new version:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

You are right about The Smiths song. This is a bit of my neglect, because I added this suggestion a long time ago and forgot about it later. Yes it's an old CDLC that needs improvement, so today I improved the old version by adding Bass path according to the official tabs.

    I tested it and it's a bit easier, but I think it's 8 and still a masterclass.

    Download here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZadrRP-Yb9r1lYIGPj6NJcjvz9RGW25W?usp=sharing

@ nlbsmglsk or @ Rodman Please update the topic post with this version!

I'll add guitar paths and upload a new CDLC on Ignition, but it needs a little more time.

You have no idea how happy this makes me. Bigmouth is my favorite Smiths song and it pained me to play an old/unrefined version on bass. I look forward to trying your version!

  7. ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

This is more challenging (or at least harder to get a high score) than the Adv track. Cool song though:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

These Revocation tracks are odd...mostly enjoyable, crunchy riffs but there's always at least one section of the song that is inexplicably hard to nail and seems unnecessary to the song. This one is overall easier than the previous ones:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Always down for some Joe Dart basslines:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Since the song was my recommendation I just wanna say disagree with everything you wrote, including the underlying premise. So it's a no from me. I won't elaborate further because this is not the place for such discussions.

I don't care if they are a parody band. I'm fine with Spinal Tap, Tenacious D, etc. This is crossing a line IMO:

    [Verse 1]
    I'm in Tokyo
    I'm looking for a ho
I tried to score some blow
But I don't speak Japanese, no
    Find a geisha girl
I take her for a whirl
Wrap her tuna roll on my dick
And the bitch is on her knees

    [Pre-Chorus]
Sucky fucky, sucky fucky, sucky fucky, sucky fucky
    Smells like sushi
Sucky fucky, sucky fucky, sucky fucky, sucky fucky
    Smells like sushi

I think the fact that many, many Asian sex workers are in fact sold as slaves is what is triggering me here. Maybe this was funny in 2009 but very much not so now IMO. Especially the "Sucky, fucky" bit.

  9. So I'm all for diverse taste in music but maybe we can avoid blatantly racist and degrading songs like Asian Hooker for the Championship? I mean seriously, I should have known just from the song name but I foolishly decided to give it a shot. 30 seconds in I was scrambling to turn it off with my kids sitting nearby and feeling utterly disgusted.

Come on let's be better than that. Guess I'll be skipping Adv Bass this week.

    This one is a classic:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

And this was a lot of fun (IMO more of a 7.5-8, not 8.5):

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

  10. Mike Mills - one of the most underrated bass players in history. His bass lines are very tasteful:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Not one of the more interesting bass parts for Billy Talent. It's fine but repetitive and a bit weak in difficulty, I'd almost go 5.5:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Wild, epic song...really tricky but fun bass playing from Deac, who happens to be another highly underrated bassist:

    ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett
