  1. Meh...sad thing is I did rather well on the harder parts, but I think my E string tuning was a little off as the E12 pull offs in the main riff weren't recognizing well. The outro is fun to play though. Now I need to see if I can improve my score on Dani California...
  2. Glad to see you here! Since you are not listed on the leaderboards with a previous level, I'd say it's up to you whether you want to compete primarily at advanced (and also masterclass) or masterclass only. Your score on S2N would suggest masterclass only - nice work! You also asked if others will post a score on S2N...I think a few have been posted since then but I will also post one and I assume there'll be a few others as well.
  3. Sorry for the confusion! I used two different links because one version had rhythm + bass only and the other had lead + bass only.
  4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You make some good points on leveling, and I'm not sure what the answer is. If we're strict about leveling it might take us to a level of competitiveness and intensity that would keep some players away, but if we make it too loose it ends up with the same people winning repeatedly. Regarding the difficulty score, what it comes down to is that the few of us who organize and do the selections (lately it's been mostly me, Rodman, and Mikson) just generally have time to select and test the songs, not to have a sort of conference or group discussion on each song's difficulty. Rating a song's difficulty is very subjective and depends on someone's experience, strengths and weaknesses, etc. Knowing that Honey++ had lower scores and therefore should have been rated a higher difficulty provides little to no help on rating other songs because different people rate the songs. I will say that I always take time to rate the bass charts as accurately as I can since I am a bassist, but even though I do that I know there will be differences of opinion. I think that's okay, as long as we can avoid egregious mistakes. But going through the whole song list to rate and re-rate songs is something I don't think any of us have time for right now, unfortunately. Still, your feedback won't hurt!
  5. I never had a chance to see or test the old one before it was removed but I really enjoy this chart despite the difficulty. The note accuracy appears good to me.
  6. First tries for the week (I didn't save screenshots from when I tested these): I love this song and just Flea's bass lines in general: I wasn't quite ready for another Dream Theater run so I'll get to that one again later...
  7. Right, everyone has a slightly different perspective on this. I won't lie, it was fun to progress quickly to the point where I could get 99.5-100% every week on intermediate and win most of the time. But I decided moving to advanced would challenge me to keep getting better, so I made the move and I'm glad I did even though I've really only been close to winning once since moving up. Focusing more on the advanced songs feels like the right level for me...just far enough beyond my comfort zone that it's helping me improve. Anyway, aside from my own motivations I just want people to enjoy the championship and stick around. Having some kind of community around this is what makes it work

  9. No problem, I get it and we always appreciate feedback. This was a "Da Capo" week meaning no one was able to do selections so we re-posted an older week. I'm guessing the beginner lead song was under-tiered the first time (it's rated a 4 which should be intermediate). I'm doing selections for this coming week and the beginner song should be truly beginner (3 difficulty).
  10. One hour warning before I start the new week! My scores: One missed note...meh: Billy Talent have some of my favorite punk(ish) basslines: Classic song, some fun riffs but my hands were ready to be done after the solo lol:
  11. Yes you can! Follow this link and add your requests at the bottom of the Song Selection List tab.
  12. Not quite good enough to top Rod but my best advanced score yet...
  13. First tries for this week: Nice classic prog song but the octaves got a bit repetitive by the end: This one is brilliant (Geezer is a true bass god) and my finger strumming is just a hair too slow to consistently pull off the main riff:
  14. First tries this week: This is more of a 5 IMO, just due to the note density and frequent fret changes - this should not be attempted without a pick: I'm getting this one down except for that one little section like 1/3 of the way through that just kicks my a$$: Lightweight for Geddy Lee but not lightweight for most humans: Not too bad for GoB, but then again fast strumming doesn't bother me:
  15. Didn't have much time for the Championship this week as I've used more of my Rocksmith time working on my own customs (latest is Unknown Mortal Orchestra - So Good at Being in Trouble). I think this is more of a 4 than a 3 but it's classed correctly at intermediate: This bass chart is largely wrong but it doesn't sound terrible and it's reasonably fun to play IMO: Ah, Tool...all the fast alternating strings, for 10+ minutes. At the beginning I struggle, then I get the hang of it, then by the end I'm just ready to be done. And I don't care to replay for a higher score:
  16. Two ways you could find songs used in the Championship: Leaderboard (as pointed out by @Orkkongen - link is always posted in the OP for each week) Song Selection List (here you will find in the SSL tab requests for CDLC to be used in the Championship - you can add your own requests too - and in the Songs from the Past tab all the songs that have been played previously, including links to ignition)
  17. Agree that it's a stretch for beginner but in a good way. The tempo is slow enough and note density low enough to make the string and fret adjustments and that movement can prepare you for more complex, higher tempo songs. Also, no shame in posting your LAS score instead of Score Attack.
  18. I just finished and posted my first CDLC a short time ago - Desire Lines by Deerhunter. I would appreciate any feedback from my Championship friends. On to my initial scores: Those annoying 12-->2 slides tripping me up: Did better on this one despite the poor bend recognition:
  19. Yeah Have a Cigar is tricky and the bends and hammer-ons take it up to a 7-8 for me. I played it back to back with Paschendale (which had been rated as an 8 on bass) and found Paschendale markedly easier overall. I do agree that RS note detection may be part of the challenge.

  21. Okay I'm closing week 387 for new scores, doing the final leaderboard update and starting week 388 shortly.
  22. Hi All - two hour warning before I post week 388!
  23. Improvement on the advanced song...LAS is less stressful:
  24. @JamesPrestonUK Do you still have Mutemath - You Are Mine or Flaming Lips - Flowers of Neptune 6 on your radar? I had asked about these on your blog a few months back and I think you said you were looking into them. As always, thanks for your many bass CDLC contibutions.
