  2. I guess that's my punishment for spacing out, I have to concede the Adv Bass win for this week
  3. Sorry for the delay, I totally lost track of it being my week for selection. I'll have the new week up shortly. Don't think it's fair to count scores well past the normal cutoff time but I'll defer to Rodman to make that call.
  4. Didn't think I could beat @ diceslinger 's score but had a nice run...
  5. Didn't feel like tuning down to Eb so I skipped to Beginner Bonus, pretty fun song for this level, I like the cadence: Took me a bit to get the rhythm of the slap/pop octaves down: Soundgarden always specialized in unusual arrangements...I do think this has slight sync issues at times but it's still a good challenge: And I'm proud of this score...unfortunately I had two or three spots (chords on Heaven Can Wait, parts of Deja Vu and then the closer That Girl by which time I was just done) that tripped me up. I would have preferred just the original eight tracks as the bonus tracks are meh but still an epic album:
  6. That’s really interesting, hadn’t tried anything like that with the slightly flat tuning…I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for taking the time to respond!
  7. @ diceslinger What was your secret to getting 99+% on Soul Sacrifice bass? I was not getting good bend recognition but maybe doing something wrong. I also just in general hate long repetitive sections on the lower end of the fret board as my fingers are not quite long enough to use my index and ring fingers comfortably for a 3-5 fret part so I end up alternating ring and pinkie, which makes the bends harder.
  8. Fun take on this song: Most enjoyable bass part this week IMO, would have preferred this as the advanced song even though it's really high intermediate: I enjoy listening to early Santana but the bass parts are just not that fun/interesting to learn and very repetitive. No issue with the bend except that it's repeated a bajillion times and my hand just starts tapping out. Meh. As previously mentioned, this is nowhere near a 9 difficulty but it's harder than you'd think from listening to the song casually:
  9. Got a little lazy with my screenshots and missed this 100% accuracy...oh well. Red Baron is quite fun for a beginner track: Completely forgot to screenshot Nickelback and won't be playing that one again... Writing on the Wall - not my favorite from Senjutsu, bass part alternates between tricky and boring for the most part, but overall it's solid: Then One, which is a hand killer but fun to play: And Orion...I'm not worthy. Was getting poor recognition on the opening chords but after that it was a fun ride:
  10. I assure you there are no cliques here and no one out to make anything more than it is. The organizers are just normal people with lives, families, jobs, etc. who are trying to keep this thing going as a way to challenge each other and improve our playing. If your post about incorrect scores was missed, I'm sure it was an honest oversight and not anything more. @ Rodman already asked you to PM him or post the issue here, so why not just do that instead of lashing out?
  11. So close to perfection: And this is such an epic song, one of my top 5 Maiden songs for sure...have to confess I needed to pause and grab a pick during the super fast part: Will have to get to Somewhere in Time next week...
  12. @ Nacholede has authored some fantastic bass charts so this is a fun two-week extravaganza. Pushing it a bit for beginner and definitely not a 2 difficulty - just the strumming speed alone makes it a 4 IMO: The most fun I've had playing an Ellefson chart - but the low tuning (it's Bb Eb Ab Db) and some fast moving on the fretboard make this more of an advanced level chart. I'd rate it a 6.5 difficulty: Loved playing this one too...probably a 5.5-6 and I found it less difficult than Family Tree: And of course I had to punish my hands with a good Cliff Burton track: Will get to Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Somewhere In Time full album later...
  13. Thanks for stopping by! I've really enjoyed challenging myself with your PPC bass charts...in fact I'm pretty sure I discovered the band because of you
  14. Thanks for the input guys. I did post a warning but I think your point about people having more time to play on Saturday is very fair. So let's count the late scores this time and maybe agree to not cut off scores before 7 CET which seems like what @ diceslinger was counting on.
  15. Yes @ nlbsmglsk and @ TarpMada we always appreciate feedback on the ratings! Let us know how you would rate the song, and keep in mind some songs feel really difficult initially but then feel less so the more you play them. The Greatest View is actually one where the first time I played it on bass it felt harder because it had some unusual progressions but then as I practiced it, not so much. I don't know if that will also hold true for lead. Either way, it is Advanced Lead so it should be...advanced, right? Anyway, let us know your thoughts when you post scores.
  16. Sorry, just getting back to this thread. Fair points for both @ Hyphema and @ diceslinger . I defer to @ Rodman and @ Mikson on whether to count the late scores. If I were you I'd want them counted, sure. As for future reminders, @ Hyphema are you suggesting a hard cutoff time set at the beginning of the week? Could be doable except that the person doing next week's selection is likely different. I guess we could just stick with a standing GMT cutoff. Other organizers, pls let me know what you think of all this. I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud here
  17. Haha...I hear you, that's totally me in the summertime but right now with the temperature at 10 degrees Fahrenheit in midday, summer sounds very inviting. Also, Alchemist would be super interesting but I don't think anyone has made CDLC for their stuff, sadly.
  18. @ Hyphema I hear you and I mostly agree...but it's not about "giving anyone shit" for missing, it's just about which scores qualify for the leaderboard. I've spent the last several hours re-testing songs and finalizing the list for the new week and I think it's fair for me to cut off the scores at a reasonable time of my choosing. I gave a two-hour warning and then gave another 30 minutes extra.
  19. From my testing: Really quite good for such an old chart: Not one of my top favorite songs from Tame Impala but it's still good and one of the only ones with a Championship-eligible guitar part: Great song, fun chart: I highly recommend using a pick for this one - PPC songs are a fun challenge on bass in general: And...good luck. Managed to get this up from 87 to 91 percent but it's a tough one. If you haven't listened to KGLW before they aren't actually a thrash metal band, this album (Infest the Rat's Nest) was one of many musical experiments they've done in different genres and in this case many metalheads love the album:
  20. The 7:00 CET deadline has never really been adhered to as long as I've been here. This was posted at apx. 10:20 EST and IMO there was sufficient time to post new scores.
  21. A few notes: The theme is Summer Down Under AKA while I'm freezing my butt off in the US it's summer time in Australia and I wish I could be there. Some of my favorite bands to listen to and play along with are Aussies. Note that AC/DC is not among them, sorry. The beginner song for both lead and rhythm (The Church - Reptile) has the paths switched for some reason (ie, the lead path is actually rhythm and vice versa) so best bet is just to play both The Greatest View is a bit on the easier side for advanced bass but I figured we could use a break after Quadrant4...and believe me, it's much more enjoyable to play! Apologies for the down-tune needed on Mars for the Rich...KGLW are one of my favorite bands and most of their best songs have weird tunings and/or have bass only charts. I hope you enjoy!
