  1. You have me wrong way before 1980. I listened to music from the 50 and 60s till I was in may late 40s lol Its all I know. I was stuck as a flower child. :D The music of the 80s Like your parents before you said what kind of shit music are you listening too. Now I like the hair band music. And only know some of that. I like music with words I can understand. Songs that make sense. puppy love taking the cars to the track . Supreams Chantels. Buddy holly, Ritchie Valans. If you ever watched American Grafitti that was me as a young man. Good Times. American Graffitti was one of my favorites. But I came up in the 70s... punk era!
  2. I'm guessing you were born after 1980? You're making me feel old!
  3. @@Bornwild Someone's been listening to you... lots of old stuff put up today... Tull... FOGHAT.... Uriah Heep, for cryin' out loud....
  4. Well, in theory, the fret hand positions (the highlighted frets) should stay the same no matter what the difficulty level. So you should never have to change your fingering, as long as you're paying attention to that. But you're right in that the DDC doesn't know how to read music well (yet). But these days, I really like DD when playing official songs. They've usually done a really good job with that.
  5. Ubisoft had to pay for the licensing rights to update the songs for RS2014, hence the import tool fee. If that helps.
  6. Better than adding DD, you can break down the really difficult parts into smaller sections. I don't know if there's a limit to the section size, I usually make them about four measures, and 8 for simpler stuff. (I think there's a limit to the number of sections, though). There's a downside to smaller sections, for me, since I'm kind of compulsive about this and find it impossible to move on to a new section until I've mastered the first. So it takes a really long time to get through the arrangement of the song. But at least I don't have to wait through 20 measures to get to the two notes I'm having trouble with.
  7. Is it the same chord as the arpeggio chord? That would explain it. If that's the case, try toggling the chord as a crazy note to force Rocksmith to label it.
  8. Yes it is. Time to start digging through those stickys up above! Everything is explained there. Have a look through the database first, though, because the songs you're interested in may already have been converted.
  9. Maybe time to run a malware scan then. Someone's trying to call home?
  10. Before you start diving in on the customs, spend a couple of weeks working through the lessons section. If you know anyone who already plays, have them sit down with you and show you some basics -- how to hold the guitar, how to hold the pick, how to fret the strings etc. A lot of that is covered in the lessons, but it really helps to have someone watching what you do (and whom you can watch too).
  11. The next generation of Rocksmith needs support for a breakout box with foot switches and a volume pedal. It would be nice if we could trigger volume information -- for a lot solos, all you really need is a boost to the normal lead tone, but for some reason they forgot to include a boost pedal.
  12. I've got one, it's almost complete....except for a four-measure section (which comes back a few times) where whoever tabbed it must have thrown his hands up in despair. What they hell ARE those chords? I also really hate it when they place the solos on a separate track -- as if people actually listen to GP files for pleasure -- but that's easy enough to fix.
  13. Isn't there an exclusive mode setting? Maybe check the options and make sure it's set like that. Betcha it's a program like java trying to update itself. Have you looked at the task manager to see what processes are running?
  14. I can't remember the last time Rocksmith crashed on me. And that was certainly the result of a custom not behaving correctly. Seems to me a lot of people experiencing this issue also keep large numbers of customs in their DLC folder. Which to me, is the real recipe for disaster. All it takes is one improperly handled custom to bring down the whole stack of cards. And this wouldn't even necessarily be the charter's fault, but it could be a bug introduced during the packing process, which isn't 100% perfect yet. So unless anyone can prove otherwise, I'd recommend keeping a separate folder for your CDLC archives and only load in the songs you're actually planning to play. (He says, backing slowly out of the room and rushing to back up his own save file, because you just know his game is going to crash tonight...) PS: From what I can tell Rocksmith will remember your progress on a song, even if it's not always loaded. Can anyone confirm this?
  15. I'd guess it's because the resolution on the TV is much different from the one on your monitor, which freaks EOF out, since it's already kind of 'challenged' in the display department.
  16. Yes! And then we can rename this site, oh, I don't know, something catchy like, hmm, Smithys Anvil. Something like that. And then we can just sit back and watch this explode. Fun!

    Amps!

I was thinking about picking up a new amp -- maybe one of those Vox amps with the massive pedalboard. Then I came across this: Built in PROGRAMMABLE drums! Weird filter effects! It's like the guy reached into my brain and designed exactly what I've been looking for. Kind of pricey... gonna have to sell one of my guitars.
  18. Hmm, if it's too much trouble to check the comment thread of a song, why bother with customs at all? There are plenty of official DLCs available now, and since you're paying for them, you'll have the right to complain if they're not perfect. Win-win.
  19. Yeah, it's amazing. This site kicks ass.
  20. What do you mean, when switching monitors? I use two monitors and drag EOF back and forth between their displays with no issues. Or do you mean, you unplug one monitor and replace it for another? If that's the case, I'd case it's your graphic card getting pissed off at you. On the other hand, EOF doesn't like it when it's not the top program -- if you're playing back and call up a different program, EOF's playback stops. Maybe that has something to do with your crash?
  21. Getting the tone changes wrong could have been the reason for your problem with the bass tone not showing up. (You add tone changes in EOF, but it's not usually necessary for bass parts.) I don't know what showlights are ... but wait a bit, @@raynebc will show up soon, he's our resident EOF guru.
  22. I've had similar error messages in the toolkit -- once I'd accidentally duplicated an arrangement onto two difficulty levels. As for the bass tones -- did you add tone changes in EOF? (PS: I'm having trouble reading past that MASSIVE signature of yours, it squeezes the message itself into too small of a space. I'm guessing I can't tempt you to change it with a Mcdonald's coupon?).
  23. I thought they changed to rules to allow people to upload converted dats, as long as they give credit to the original charter? I agree, it's a shame to let those songs fade away. I'd try contacting the original charter first -- maybe they're in the process of doing this. Some people have made dozens, even hundreds of customs, and converting them takes time. But converting a .dat to a .psarc is a good way to get started learning to make your own -- you'll want to update the .dat with the new techniques and tones available for RS2014, if nothing else.
  24. How does the syncing with GPA work? Is it automated somehow? And does it require a Guitarpro file to work or will it sync without it? I didn't realize people were syncing the audio and the temp and the guitarpro file all at the same time -- that would definitely make a huge difference! On the other hand, many of the songs that interest me don't have any tab available.
